When i was backpacking in New Zealand i stayed in the Jugglers Rest for two nights before taking the ferry to Wellington. The hostel feels very warm and more like a home than a hostel. The kitchen (those fresh herbs!) is amazing to cook and after that you can chill at the dinner table to chat to others or enjoy...

I have stayed at Jugglers rest every year (for the last 3 years) for a period of 2/4 weeks during the summer. Every time I am blown away by the warmth and hospitality of Nikki and Bruce. They run a holistic service with amazing facilities (in a beautiful heritage building!), cultivate a lovely community, host mind blowing performances, provide valuable...

This hostel is like staying at a lovely friend's house! Wonderful welcome from the owner. Clean, comfortable room with standards well above a usual hostel. Fantastic value for money. Tea and coffee provided. Nice bathrooms. Great, relaxed environment. Highly recommended!

Bruce is tall. He's also a great host, and very welcoming. The place is in a very warm homely feeling house with history and character. A very friendly environment where guests come together and learn to play with fire toys, hula hoops and guitar or can be found chilling in hammocks on the verandah outside. The picturesque surrounding native bush...

Super friendly owners, inviting and chatty - offered veg off the allotment for our own cooking! Loved the alternative, artsy vibe. Bruce and his lady friend (I'm sorry we don't remember her name!) were v friendly. Only downside is the ridiculously low cut off of Internet data - i enjoy it's to be social but when you're travelling you need...

Had a wonderful and very relaxing stay for a few nights at this cosy, endearingly eccentric hostel. Beds are comfortable, the owners couldn't be more welcoming, there's a lovely wood fire in the drawing room, a cat who enjoys snuggles until otherwise, and plenty of circus gear to have fun with. Internet's free and reliable, though runs on tickets of...

I arrived alone as the season was ending and was greeted by Bruce as though he was a mate I had known all my life. He wasn't short on advice on trips around the area and named great places to eat, drink etc. The hostel was more of a house, with a uniqueness unlike any other I have been in....

I had a lovely time, a real home away from home. Great smiles, laughter, and company. The kitchen was great and the cat is like a friendly dog which is ok in my book. Great organic chillies, i know their quality. Thank you Bruce and Nikki.

Fantastic place. A true home away from home and one my favourite hostels in NZ. Relaxed and quirky, I cannot wait to stay again but very worried about over advertising how amazing it is in case there will be no room at the Inn!
