To be honest. It was a revolting dirty, cold, dated place to stay. Thank goodness we only went for 1 night. Never have we been so cold, our bed sheets were surpose to be white but were yellow with age. Also we found public hairs in all our beds and stains on sheets. Just yuck. I slept in my clothes... Our room was very dated cold, a tv that you could not get channels on, no DVD player no clock, alarm clocks etc. We were on the ground floor with a room above us with their toilet right over our bedroom which was most unpleasant listening or more to the point being woken up by people using the toilet at... Located on the main street of town and a short walk to cafes, shops and restaurants this is a great choice of accommodation if you're looking for a room with cooking facilities and room to move. The room was clean and comfortable with loads of nature light and fresh air.

A last-minute choice: two-bedroom unit on main street - cheap and comfortable for a one-night stay. Garden in front, pub across the road, short walk to waterfront, museum, shops, cafes. "The door's open, just go in and settle in."

This didn't meet our standards. This might be the standard lodging for on the S. Island but for my 2nd day on the island I was taken back. Our accommodations were pre-booked by our travel guide (for our 2 wk. adventure) in which we asked for a 4 or 5 star hotels. We were traveling with another couple so had... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this Motel and we had the corner studio room on the ground floor. This was very clean and had enough utensils to make a meal. The shower was o.k with nice hot water. The bed was very good and suited my wife who has a bad back. There is a nice... More

I have read previous reviews about the place and was a little apprehensive about booking the place. When we arrived, we were expecting the worst. But to our surprise, it turnout that we slept very well there and we felt really comfortable. It is not be high-end or luxury. It is basic, clean and comfortable. I understand that it could... More

Situated at the Christchurch end of Akaroa main street on the corner. We had a spacious corner room with a kitchen, bathroom and a very nice patio outside with a table and chairs which was shielded from the road by a shrubbery. The property was not particularly quiet as it is on the main road but for the price it... More

Huge disappointment. All accommodation we have stayed in - for same/similar price - has been superb but this is sub-standard in the extreme. No attention to it in years it seems - cheap, very dated furniture, only one pillow each (are they rationed?). Even the internal walls are painted breeze blocks, not even plastered & finished. Remniscent of single men's... More

We stayed in. Two bedroom flat at the 'town end' of La Rive. It was a cute and well provisioned apartment where we listened to the tiny creek right next to us (so soothing) and woke to the sound of a pair to Tui and Bell birds as well as other birds each morning. It was reasonably priced and Sarah,... More
