Detailed Reviews
Room was as I had anticipated from the reviews and photos that it was very dated with faded carpet etc but clean and a very big family room with the two kids single beds up a very steep set of wooden stairs in the room (so steep that I actually had my youngest sleep downstairs and I slept upstairs as I was concerned that if he woke in the night for the toilet which was downstairs he might fall down them). The room was very warm so windows open was a must. The noise from the bar outside the room finished at around 12:30am and then young people sat shouting and drinking in the square outside the room until about 3am. Not great for a family room. Whilst I know this wasn’t the hotels fault, when I told staff at checkout about this their reply was ‘yes it’s always like that, bad isn’t it.’ I did say that had I know the family room looked over a noisy square where people congregated at night I wouldn’t have booked it and they should probably tell people this, the staff said thank you.
Also there is a window next to the two childrens beds in the upstairs part of the family room that doesn’t have a curtain on it so whilst the main windows do have good curtains, if your children wake up to light there is a lot coming in that room in the morning. A shame as you’d have thought that was an easy fix for the hotel so why they’ve not done it I don’t know. Lovely town, hotel dated but nice but just not much sleep on a Friday night after a long day travelling from the Uk with children.

Outdated hotel, no tea or coffee making facilities in room, which is a must have in my book. No aircon, big stain on ceiling, only two rooms in the hotel with double beds. Watch out if you pay on booking. com. The price was 87€,but the hotel charged me 94€,plus 6 € city tax, so altogether 100 euro for a basic bed to sleep, in for one night. Never again!!

First of all, the location is great, the hotel is in the town centre, very close to shops and restaurants. The receptionist was lovely, nothing was too much trouble for him: when I needed to borrow a hairdryer, an adapter or even to print the tickets for my flights, it was all done right away and free of charge. The hotel was very warm (we visited it in October, when it was nippy outside as soon as you walked into the hotel you could feel its warmth). The restaurant looks lovely although we didn't really have a meal there (so I am not sure if it was good) and the breakfast was great, with a lot of choices for people of all tastes; the bed was very comfortable and the hotel is clean but the bedrooms need modernising a bit. Although it's located in the town centre, the hotel is very quiet, perfect for resting at night. The only thing I was not very impressed with was the quality of their wi-fi as when the hotel was busy (mainly at dinner time), it was nearly impossible to use it. Apart from this, we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel.

Dated, moldy, dirty.
Only plus is the location and the parking, the staff was pleasant.
This hotel needs a massive upgrade. From the very dirty broken carpet, to the moldy bathroom, to the broken or missing lamps, to the very stuffy dusty air in the room, to the run down furniture, the ready for the dump matrassen. My husband considered sleeping in the car since he couldn’t breathe.
All this for 165euro a night.
Do yourself a favor; keep your money.
Fletcher should be ashamed of this hotel.

In late September and early October, while traveling on business in The Netherlands, I had the pleasure of staying at The Hotel De Zalm in Brielle. I have never felt so welcome and "at home" in any other hotel that I've stayed in. The staff were incredible and made my stay of nearly three weeks very enjoyable. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel exudes charm and is set right in the middle of the beautiful littel town of Brielle. The hotel's onsite Restaurant was amazing and I was never disappointed with any of the dishes I tried. There are also many other excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel in nearly any direction. I am returning again soon and I would not consider staying anywhere other than The Zalm. I'm anxious for another taste of their charm and hospitality.

The Hotel de Zalm is situated in the main market square of Brielle and it has a good sized car park. We were there to enjoy the Brielle 1st April enactment which was superb. We dined at the hotel and the evening meals were very good - service was also good.
The breakfast was also good.
The rooms are ok, all ensuite and the shower was ok (water pressure did suffer a bit during peak showering times.
There is quite a bit of room noise from other rooms and the stairways as people walk around them.
I would recommend this hotel as it represents good value for money.

I was concerned by some of the reviews I read on Tripadvisor. I'm pretty picky, and I'm always worried about claustrophobic rooms when I visit old European properties. But I found the hotel to be very charming, clean, comfortable, with a spacious room and very good service. True, the carpeting is old and could use an update, but it's a three-star hotel and what you get is a fine three-star hotel. If you're looking for a Holiday Inn, you shouldn't stay here. But if you're looking for a charming boutique hotel, right on the central square of a charming Dutch town, with local charm and flavor, this is the place for you.

The hotel is very nice and well positioned in the center of town so you can easily walk around the beautiful small city, the hotel even provides a walking tour description upon arrival. As mentioned in the title the hotel feels a bit quirky and this mainly has to do with the rooms. They are oddly spread around the hotel around corners and in nooks and crannies of the building itself. This most likely has to do how these rooms where added over time. The rooms (I had) where not very large but convenient. Not all windows of the rooms can be opened but (portable) air conditioners are in that case foreseen. The look and feel of the interior is a bit dated but that could also be the big attraction if you are in to that of course. One minor point is that the wall a pretty thin so some of the rooms can be noisy so make sure you ask want you want. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is excellent, even if you're not a guest staying at the hotel you should try the restaurant. All in all a nice hotel for a good price. I recommend it and will go again.

This has got to be one of the most quirky hotels that I stayed at. I stayed in room 80, which is located in the roof of an annex - the whole hotel is made up of various annexes joined together to create a single hotel. The room was basic and comfortable. Access to the room is up a very steep stair case that just serves this room. WIFI is temperamental - good at times, at other times it is non existent; usually around early evening.
There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel with a reasonable, but limited selection of food at dinner and breakfast. The staff are very polite and speak very good English. There are a number of restaurants within very close proximity. The town is originally a medieval port with its own town walls and moat. the streets are narrow and the one-way system can be a bit confusing the first time you encounter it.
There is a car park at the hotel, but it is tricky to get a parking place after 17:00 and it is recommended that you use a smaller car around Brielle, as the roads and route through the car park is very narrow.
Overall, Brielle is a really nice place to visit and is very quiet - next to no traffic in the town - rush hour is two cars and four bikes. It is very nice place to be based when working or visiting the area.

As I needed somewhere to sleep I found the Hotel on the Internet. The room was small, but had all the necessities needed for an overnight stay in Brielle. Breakfast included in the price of the room, and it did not disappoint. Perfect location in the city centre of town.
