We had a one night stay at the Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen. The hotel is situated less than 50 metres from the Banhof and is easily accessible from the main road. It is a perfect location for exploring this area of the alps.
All of the staff at reception were very friendly and spoke excellent English. The hotel is very clean, tastefully decorated and the room was beautiful. It was a good size with a table, two chairs, wardrobe with shelves and hangers, a bench as well as a standard in-room safe. There were plenty of electric outlets including one European. The bed was very supportive and comfortable with large foldable pillows. The bathroom was a little on the small side but shower was powerful and water was hot. Our room also had a balcony with fantastic views of the snow capped mountains with a couple of outdoor chairs.
We had our evening meal in the hotel. There is an excellent menu with a wide range of dishes at very fair prices. Lucy (our waitress) was friendly and a great help. The pizzas looked superb. The Rosti was fantastic and I would highly recommend!
Breakfast was self-serve and was excellent. There were a variety of juices and cereals, including a couple of gluten free options. There were also a selection of breads and pastries, a selection of fruits, cheeses and cold meats. There were three types of hot food; streaky bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages. Boiled eggs were also available.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will definitely return when we are next in this area of the Swiss alps. Checkout is earlier than most hotels so we didn’t get to enjoy the room for as long as we would have liked.

We booked the “Jungfrau View Superior” (room 23) and it is large apartment-like room. Even though we enjoyed the space and the 2 bathrooms the room lacks coziness and is very utilitarian. None of the lights dim, including the bedroom lights, the towels are thread bear, no plugs in the bedroom, no lotions or any amenities normal for hotels of this caliber are offered. The view from the large balcony is fantastic and parking is free behind the hotel. The complimentary breakfast is served in a lovely breakfast room and a variety of choices are offered

Lauterbrunnen is small, but it's possible to still have a bit of a walk to a hotel from the train/cable car station. Hotel Silberhorn is a 2 minute walk, tops, from the train station. Just across the street & up a small incline. It's slightly more expensive than some other options in town, but makes for a good home base with quick & easy access to the gondola & train if you want to take a last minute ride to another location. The staff is wonderful, breakfast was delicious & the dinner restaurant is equally good!

I'm unsure how to even start reviewing this hotel. Do I talk about the incredibly beautiful building, the smiling person behind the front desk, the absolutely stunning views or the picturesque rooms? There are many hotels in the Lauterbrunnen area, but the room we had with a balcony had, by far, the best view we've experienced in our travels. We arrived to what seemed to be a full hotel. Seeing no parking on the street available we went inside and asked. The woman behind the desk walked outside with us to find a spot and when she realized there wasn't one, offered to move her car if one didn't open up soon. Our room was on the top floor and though they have no lift, it wasn't a big deal. You can stay at hotels closer to Staubbach Falls but, in our opinion, getting the views of the falls AND the valley from Hotel Silberhorn seems ideal. The breakfast that was included was extensive and delicious. We ate dinner here all 3 nights and didn't regret it. The train station is right across the street but you would never know. It's quiet and unobtrusive. If you're staying in Lauterbrunnen, staying at Hotel Silberhorn is worth it!

Would highly recommend this hotel. It’s minutes from the railway station. The staff are friendly and helpful while not overbearing - just right. Breakfasts are very substantial and we also ate dinner there on both nights and enjoyed it. Beds are really comfortable too! It’s a great location for exploring the area with easy access to the whole region by train or cable car and the staff offer helpful advice on hikes to take depending on weather etc. Overall a wonderful experience and we will be back to Silberhorn!

If I could give a 4.5, that is what I would give the Hotel Silberhorn. The hotel had a great location that is close to the train station but a little removed from the overcrowded Main Street. The room itself (including closets), the bathroom and toilet room, and the balcony were a great size, and the furnishings were in great condition. The breakfast had lots of food and drink options; the hotel restaurant service for dinner was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious (much better than Hotel Oberland). Some of the best dishes were the carrot and ginger soup, the pumpkin soup, the roasted trout, and the deer steak. The front desk staff, while reserved, were accommodating and helpful. And, the price was reasonable. The small things that would have made it a true 5 would be having a refrigerator in the room and providing more fans or AC to combat the extreme stuffiness in the room. I appreciate that Switzerland has not been accustomed to the recent summer heat, but it was still not comfortable to come back to a hot room after a day in the sun.

I was the coordinator for a group of 18 friends on a 15 day Swiss Rail vacation recently. The Zurich Travel Agency who arranged the tour recommended Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen. I am so happy that we had a chance to visit this wonderful place. It is indeed one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland.
The staff in Hotel Silberhorn was so friendly and helpful, especially Sandra at the reception desk and Franziska in the dining room. They made our stay a delight.
Owner, Beat, who is a 5th generation hotel operator was also very helpful. He offered to take our luggage to the train station upon our departure. Guests should be aware that the hotel is located on a hill. One needs to climb a pretty steep incline from the train station to get to the hotel. Our group mostly in the 70's and 80's had a tough time hauling our luggage uphill. The hotel does not have elevator. Luckily Beat asked the staff to help us carry our luggage upstairs. The hotel should consider offering luggage service to and from the train station, especially for elderly guests.
Overall, it was an excellent stay in Hotel Silberhorn. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Switzerland not to miss Lauterbrunnen and make sure to stay in Hotel Silberhorn. Do ask for rooms that have full valley view. We were given a room on the side close to the slope where the view of the valley was very limited and waterfall view was blocked by a tree. A shame. Perhaps the tree should be trimmed or removed.

My now-husband and I stayed at the Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen in July 2024. We got married while we were there. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, and truly went above and beyond for us. My steamer broke and one of the staff lent me her personal steamer so I could steam my wedding dress. They lent us utensils and plates and flutes for a picnic. They thoughtfully gave us little bottles of champagne the night of our wedding. They gave us incredible recommendations throughout our stay. Nearly everyone was multilingual and made communicating easy.

The rooms were clean and beautiful and comfortable, with absolutely gorgeous views. We are quite picky about cleanliness in hotels - and Hotel Silberhorn was perfection. We stayed in the H-top suite for two nights and then switched to D-valley H100 for three nights.

The lobby has a coffee machine as well as both still and sparkling water that you can access 24/7. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and had both European and some traditional American breakfast options. There is also free wifi and a few outlet options in the rooms (not just Swiss but USB and the other type of European outlet).

The town of Lauterbrunnen itself was so special and beautiful. It was hard to come home! We can’t wait to come back to this magical hotel and town again someday.

We had a 4 night stay in mid June and could not have been happier with both the hotel and the staff. The location was perfect, close to the train station and to the tram that you would take to go to Murren and Schilthorn. In addition the restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. The front desk was extremely helpful in providing the best means of transport to the various activities in the region. The only negative was that there is no AC, so make sure you request a fan in your room as it was unseasonably hot while we were there. We did need an extra pillow and a top sheet as the comforter was too warm, and that was not a issue with the staff. I highly recommend getting a superior room so that you could enjoy the view from the balcony.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Silberhorn! While I know that some of the room types are out of date in terms of decor, we booked a Valley View - Holz 100 room knowing that it was one of the updated rooms. I would recommend anyone staying to do the same as it was gorgeous! The wood walls and stone in the bathrooms gave the feeling of a cozy chalet while the updated furnishings helped it to feel like a modern resort. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved the balcony and windows that gave us incredible and varied views of the gorgeous nature in Lauterbrunnen. The front desk and restaurant staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the breakfasts in the adorable front dining room, and we also enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the main restaurant (although be ready for those Switzerland prices $$$). We would highly recommend anyone coming to Lauterbrunnen to stay at the Hotel Silberhorn! You won't be disappointed.

When we stayed in late September last year, there was no elevator. We carried our luggage up the stairs to an upper floor. We were told that the hotel has plans to install an elevator in the main building. But do not know the timing plan for that. The "Staubbach" room that we had in the annex building had a shower stall in the bathroom. Don't know what the rooms have in the main building.
