Came here for a two night stay with my husband....Monique was a fabulous host - lovely welcome and made to feel at home. We took a suite which was lovely and spacious, and gave us a kitchenette so that we could cook our own meals. Our balcony overlooked the wonderful garden and pool which was open for guests to use. I loved how the owners furnished and decorated the suite - quite minimal in style and very appealing. Would def stay again if we came to the area. It's about 7 mins drive to Tavira so you need a car.

What I specifically like here is the comfortable rooms, nicely made as ' simple and chique', nicely hidden at the end of small ' camino' in a typical East Algarvian rural landscape. The sea is not far away, the pool is great and the heart of the village were you will see mainly local Portuguese drinking their coffee, is just around the corner! Warm people with attention for personal touch!

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at Casa Verdazul at the beginning of October 2014 and we had the penthouse suite which has a splendid large sitting space outside which is well furnished with a table and 4 chairs, umbrella and a pair of long loungers. Beautiful view to the coast and sea. The room itself is spacious with a well fitted kitchen. There were areas where attention and upgrading is needed (eg TV, loo flush mechanism, dining chairs) but this was very much at the end of the main season and the owner is aware. We had booked for bed and breakfast but breakfast is no longer offered so we self catered which was not a problem and Graeme did provide a complimentary starter pack as we were arriving during the evening. Casa Verdazul is well placed to explore the eastern end of the Algarve and is a quiet place to which you can return to relax. after a day sightseeing. The local village can cater for most daily needs and is quaint. Overall we were happy with our choice of Casa Verdazul for this short stay but feel some attention over the winter is required to justify the price.

Thank you Peter and Di for your helpful comments. We really enjoyed having you as guests at Casa Verdazul. I am glad I had the chance to explain the few details that needed attention during your stay. These little things are being taken care of now during our end of year maintenance period. As you know, the toilet flushed without a problem, but I was afraid to tamper with anything during your stay. It has now been resolved. Breakfast service will resume as normal in 2015 - and as you discovered, there are two stores with everything you need for breakfast, just 500 meters from the guesthouse, and the suite is equipped with a kitchen. I thank you for your kind understanding. Once again, many thanks for your constructive comments and hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday as you travelled to the other side of the Algarve. Our first (and last) experience with Portugal took place in 2009 and was not a very nice one. This summer we've spent our holiday in Casa Verdazul and we were hoping for a better experience compared to last time. And better it was..... The location itself is nice and quiet, the hosts Graham and Monique are friendly and kind, the room was fine and we've had a nice terrace with a distant view of the ocean. The children have enjoyed playing with their friends around and in the swimming pool almost on a daily basis. Given their fear of dogs, they did have some moments of panic when "Luna" was wandering around the pool...Very nice beaches (Praia Verde, Ilha de Tavira, Praia da terra estreita) are within a reasonable driving distance. Some of these beaches can only be visited through the ferry boats, which is a nice experience as well. A day-trip to the beautiful city of Sevilla is a possibility as well as the distance is approx 160KM. All in all a very nice and relaxing holiday and a far better Algarve experience than the previous one.
