If this is a 3 star hotel, then all Ibis properties should be upgraded to 4-5 stars! Let's start with the location. More than 2 km away from the central bus station, which is still not the center of Szczawnica. Interior - tossed between goralski (polish mountain style) and late 90's. They installed energy savers everywhere, so it is really dark in the corridors. No warnings on the stairs (dark brown tiles make it even worse). My room was very depressing, the pics should speak for all. I asked for a quiet one, so I got one...The view was "amazing". Breakfast...After I saw it for the very first time, I got the idea why it is being offered in a package. Breakfast I prepare at home looks better and healthier than the one served there. Ham, cheese laying in room temperature for hours. The same with milk. No cold plate!!! And they call it a 3 star hotel! Butter was melted. Very cheap products, no fresh fruit. Coffee machine so dirty I could vomit. They wanted to "upgrade" this piece of sh..t breakfast by serving Belgian waffles. Bad news for you: I am Belgian and they didn't even look the way they should! And flies, of course :) Another interesting thing was a big glass pot with "fresh" water with lemon. It was standing there on the day I arrived and 72 h later, room temperature, not refreshed. Oh, they offer spa treatments. But, hey! Only late in the afternoon! And the prices!!! As high as in Cracow or Warsaw :) There are 2 excellent spa hotels in the town's center, that offer same treatments at better price. 've been there, checked. All of these for only 50 eur/nite. I recommend the owner of this "excellent" hotel to spend a few nights in a real 2-3 star hotel in Cracow or Warsaw. The price will be the same. But the experience definitely better than mine.…
Lots of small details to utilise space. Alpine style hotel without unnecessary flashiness. The view from our room was superb, Clean, compact and practical bathrooms, confortable beds, good breakfast and pleasent staff.
Ok hotel on outskirts of town, at least 2km walk to town. From the outside this hotel looks great. Once inside different story. Very run down, the bathroom & shower a total joke. The shower head is fixed height of 3ft. If you try to put on higher hock it sprays into the top right corner of shower. Can't control & no water goes on you! The toilet lid broken & fell off in my hand. We stayed here one night as part of a cycle holiday & others in our group found the same issues with the shower. The bedroom itself was nice & a few places to plug things in. The wifi worked well Would have given this hotel 3 stars. However it was very noisy with a group of people singing & talking until past 1.30am. The bar was closed so they must have been in patio/terrace area by our room (116). Real shame as meant I was unable to get a good nights sleep. Would have expected the hotel to control the noise levels as quests are there to sleep. Breakfast basic & hated the instant coffee. …
We stayed 3 nights at the Smile hotel and it was all together ok. Rooms and breakfast was standard - not overwhelming. The hotel is situated 2 km from the center of town, but close to the hiking trails, which was perfect for us. It is, however, located right next to the main road with a lot of traffic passing by from early morning till late night. So even though we had a room with a balcony and a bautiful view overlooking the lake and the mountains, we couldn't really enjoy it because of the noise. We stayed in room 01, and fortunately no parties were held in the common room right next to us, so we slept fine! But we could hear kids playing etc. during the day, and I can't figure out, why the door between the common room and the corridor with guest rooms wasn't just closed permanently. It would have helped. The staff however was friendly, and they let us check in 4 hours before they had to, so all together we had a nice stay at the hotel.…
Nice family hotel in the outskirts of town with great views. Two small minus points : 1) we stayed for two nights and our room was not cleaned while we were there , no beds made or fresh towels ; 2) only one small bin in the bathroom with no other bins in the room.
Clean, functional and perfectly adequate we were not unhappy with this hotel. In fairness the expectations of the typical Polish guest are lower than mine as a foreigner, but knowing this I wasn't disappointed with any aspect of the hotel. Lacking any real character, except some nice old photos of the area in the hallways it could be a hotel anywhere in Poland. I would agree with previous reviewers on two points: 1) Avoid room one as it is next to the space where parties and events are held. This was the case when we stayed and we were thankful of having a room on the second floor (although some noise still filtered up through the stairwell). 2) The staff are helpful and polite, but ironically not a lot of smiles on offer in contradiction to the name of the hotel. We weren't expecting anymore as this is not unusual in Poland where customer service does not extend beyond civility. Overall an okay place for a brief stay, but I would seek out somewhere with a bit more of the mountain character for a longer stay.…
Although the room (room no. 1) needs an design upgrade, it was a clean and comfortable room. Both breakfast and lunch were very tasty. The spa service in basement is very poor: the massage room is very cold, and the old dark-haired lady working downstairs enjoys making things impossible. She made us feel like we were constantly intruding or bothering her. She did not let us enter the sauna during opening hours.
The strangest thing about the Smile hotel is: there are no smiles. The staff, from reception to bar to restaurant, have made sulkiness their trademark. Understandably. The hotel has little to smile about. The rooms are basic. Bathrooms were recently redone, but the showerhead in the bathroom was fixed at a height of 3ft. The food in the restaurant was bland and there was only instant coffee available for breakfast. When booking, check and make sure there are no parties going on. On one of the nights of my stay, two different disco’s at full volume made sleep absolutely impossible until 2am.
Very close to perfection. Friendly, clean and close enough to the local town. We traveled with a 2.5 year old. Tried to put to single beds together but was uncomfortable due to the style of beds. Good place to use as a base to see the local beautiful sites. Would go a again.
We stopped for a lunch there because of the roadways signs advertising crepes. At that time in the center of Szczawnica was a huge crowd of people everywhere, but this place being at the beginning of the town was empty. Their crepes were made in a very interesting way ~ they were closed on the outside edges making this a large "pierog" fried outside. They were very tasty, and we really enjoyed the meal there.
