Stayed two nights here. Walking distance to everything including the island fortress although we chose to use the shuttle bus available at the causeway. The room was clean and well appointed -- even had electric jug and tea and coffee making [very important inclusion for us!!]. We had a balcony and views of the 'rock'. Clean and safe swimming directly across the road with beach showers. Breakfast was well provisioned and we were able to find something to eat each morning. There are some great restaurants along the waterfront around near the harbour and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the water to enjoy a drink before venturing out. Parking is on the street but no problem. The lady at reception [sorry can't remember her name] was very helpful and they reset the wifi promptly when we reported that it was not working. We really enjoyed our stay here and are happy to recommend.

This hotel has seen better days, but the service and location are excellent. The room was clean and complete, and had a balcony with a sea view, It is right on the water, so you don't have other buildings in your view. The staff was very helpful, and breakfast was served in a lovely waterview room.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Pramataris in Gefira. This hotel is in an excellent location and very close to the causeway to Monemvasia. It is owned and run by Chryssoula who speaks good English. Room rates include a good self service breakfast which was spoilt somewhat by the smoking which is permitted in the dining room. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The Hotel Monemvasia which is next door was derelict at the time of our stay in July 2006. If you are staying here be sure to visit Elafonisos island. The ferry crossing only takes 10 minutes and the beaches here match some of the best we have ever seen including the Carribean!! There are very few British tourists in this region with the majority being from the U.S., Italy and Greece. We were actually based in Tolon 4 hours drive to the North but the drive was well worth it, the mountain roads are spectacular. This really is a must see part of Greece.

We just returned from Greece and our favorite spot was Monemvasia. We didn't stay long enough. While there, we stayed at Hotel Pramataris. It was wonderful. It's not located on the rock (which I think is better) but is very close. Lots of easy parking. The hotel is steps away from the beach as well as all the restaurants. Excellent location. We had a room on the 2nd floor with a big balcony. It was spotless. The bathroom fixtures were all new and the water pressure and temperature was fine. The rooms are basic but have everything you'll need. Ours had a little refrigerator which was nice.

Our room rate also included a breakfast which was more than adequate - cereal, danishes, yogurt and fruit. The owner is very friendly and speaks good Engish.

I hope to go back to Monemvasia and I will definitely stay at Hotel Pramataris.

Right on the beach, but with a small road between the hotel and water, the Pramataris is a simple guesthouse with no frills. My rather large room had a great shower, a comfy bed, and a small fridge in which I kept ice and the local white wine to enjoy on the large sea view balcony. Unfortunately the air con wasn't working, so nights were sweltering, and the main coast road passes on the other side of the hotel, creating traffic noise all night. Every scooter and motorbike in the region seemed to rev outside my room. Breakfast has the usually: yoghurt and honey, breads and cakes, olives and tomatoes, freshly squeezed orange juice, and amazingly good brewed coffee.

Walking up to the old city is a joy. The water is crystal clear. I could see turtles swimming along the surface! The car park opposite the hotel is convenient. It is a short stroll to the commercial seafront where several seafood tavernas ply their trade. Two food markets are nearby so you can stock the hotel fridge if you want. The room contains an electric kettle for tea and coffee making,

Wifi in the dining area and sitting room is strong, but not available in the rooms. it is free.

We stayed for three nights in April. The location is about perfect: our balcony overlooked the Rock and we were on the best stretch of beach. Plenty of restaurants nearby. This small hotel is run by a happy family. The manager has good English and is most hospitable: she brought us some ouzo on the house as we sat in one of the public rooms (she also offered us coffee). An excellent breakfast with brewed coffee was included in the 60 Euro rate.

A wonderful family run hotel where you are made to feel really welcome. The location is on the mainland but it's ideally positioned on the seafront and almost next to the causeway over to old Monemvasia (a short walk will take you there). Very comfortable rooms, beautifully clean, and a great breakfast to start the day. We stayed a week and loved it.

We stayed 2 nights in 3 rooms, July 30-31. The rooms were very comfortable for up to 3 people. There was good air conditioning and our rooms had nice balconies, which looked directly onto the Rock and the sea. Breakfast was simple but nice with the fresh squeezed orange juice the best I have ever had in any hotel (it must be those tree ripened Peloponnesian oranges). Mrs Pramataris, the owner takes much pride in her property and is always willing to help her clients. While we were there she expanded the good wi-fi to the upper floor. You are 50m to a nice public beach with a shower. For the price you can't go wrong!
