My family group of 9 had a wonderful stay here. Several of us are older and needed our luggage brought from the “castle gate” entrance to the guesthouse. The staff arranged porters to do this for us. We had several rooms and each was very pleasant and clean. Breakfast on the patio was a highlight of our trip.

We stayed in this wonderful guesthouse for 3 nights at the end of February. I can barely describe the sheer beauty of this place. The guesthouse, the views, the surrounding, the wine, the food I could go on and on. We had a truly lovely time but the thing that stood out the most was the wonderful family that run this place. Michael, the son welcomed us and looked after us for the duration of our stay. Yannis, the second son runs the wine shop in the village and we had a wonderful welcome from him as well. The owners wife is a truly lovely lady. Fresh baked bread and cakes each morning. Home made yoghurt, home made preserves, I could go on forever. Just one final wonderful touch was as we were leaving on our last morning the owner's wife gave us a large bad of oranges that she had just picked from their own orchard. Utterly wonderful.

The hotel location is excellent being in front of a big square with excellent view of the sea. As it located at the east-end of the caste, there is a longer walking on the the cobbled streets of the castle, but it's worth it. Excellent breakfast with handmade specialties, pies, cakes, etc. Very good service with the staff being very friendly and helpful.

Kelia are based inside the Castle of Monemvasia and are ideal for every season (just be aware that during summer it can get REALLY hot inside the Castle area)! The breakfast is unbelievable and the owners really really nice and accommodating. Definitely recommended.

Stayed here for a friends' wedding in one of the rooms overlooking the church and square. The room was basic but very comfortable and well furnished, just a bed, fridge, cupboard, chairs and table and a bathroom. But really that's all you need. Breakfast was different each morning but always delicious with lots of local (I think from the owners own farm?) produce. Monemvasia is pretty tiny, but here you're away from the "main" street, so it was always quiet in the evening. There's a swimming platform beneath the wall, great places to eat in town, lots of streets to wander and a nice hike up to the top. Only thing to mention is if you're arriving after dark, a torch may be useful as although it is signposted, it's not well lit and the streets are pretty twisty and uneven. As soon as you've done the trip once though you'll know your way there. Oh - and there's no parking in town, so you may want to drop your suitcases off (with one of your group) at the entrance to the town and then find a parking spot rather than carry them all the way up. Rolling suitcases won't help in the town!

The place is great to sit outside and enjoy the view. We visited just for a coffee with snacks. The real reason was to enjoy the beautiful square and the place. The coffee with excellent too, but the atmosphere is even better.

Our staying at “Kellia” was unique; Kellia is by far the best spot in Monemvasia Castle Town, the venue, the scenery and the view is amazing and highly aesthetic. Staying at the room that Yiannis Ritsos was born was an amazing experience as well. Breakfast was great, made by local organic products while “Kelari” -the shop “Kellia’s” owner runs - has a big variety of local products: Fragosiko spirit, organic olive oil and of course Malvasia is a must! Above all, staying at “Kellia” will stay in our memory as a unique experience because of it’s attentive, friendly and professional staff, while the most important thing is that we made a new friend: Mr Takis, the owner and manager who is so warm and genuine. He made us feel like he was hosting us at his own home. His rich historical knowledge and his top tips about Monemvasia and the wider area, contributed to deeply experience the whole place. We totally recommend “Kellia” and we hope to manage to visit again this magical place and meet up all these wonderful people. Thank you “Kellia” for the great memories, we already miss you. See you soon!!

We visited the hotel cafe in the evening and we were asked to leave till our 2yearold daughter gets quiet. The baby was scared of the fireworks, due to a local celebration, and cuddled in our lap. The waiter explained that they run a 'lounge' cafe... We would never go there again.

Dear Desd1977 your comment is totally untrue. The celebrations (fireworks and boat burning) for the 23 th of July are taking place every year at the new city(square before the bridge). Our Guesthouse is inside the old city so probably you may have been confused. Since you have not been a guest of our guesthouse please cancel this untrue review. At your disposal P.Papadakis

We stayed in the Kelia Guesthouse in June. The location is great with its own large courtyard facing the sea. Breakfast is served on the courtyard. The guesthouse is an old property tastfully converted to a hotel, with large eclectic rooms. The hotel would make a stunning wedding venue. The hotel is hidden away down a warren of narrow streets and the signage is in greek - took us a while to find it, but was worth it when we did - typical Monemvasia. We left some belonging in the property and the owner went out of her way to post them on to us in the UK.
