As byzantine and authentic as the Castletown of Monemvasia itself, BYZANTINO is the hotel where the history, the architecture and the modern facilities meet the warm hospitality, the home made tastes and the quality services. All year round fairy tale stay! Great advantage... the unique hospitality of Monemvasia provided in every level. The service, the friendly interaction and the personal interest of its people, who are always eager to accommodate you and inform you on anything you need. Special recommendation... the delicious handmade Greek Breakfast, made with select local products, based on traditional recipes, is prepared with the personal care and meticulousness of Mrs Anna and carries certification of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. Invaluable experience... the stay at Byzantino Boutique Hotel which targets "seekers" of memorable experiences, incurable romantics, keen nature lovers, cosmopolitans and history enthusiasts, who dream of a journey into yesterday with today's conveniences.

We loved this beautiful hotel. We specifically requested a room with few stairs and a sea view, and we were given exactly that—an antique-filled Ottoman style room (A1) with a balcony overlooking the main square and the sea—perfect for us. We had been worried about having to park outside the town gate and drag our luggage through town, but the reception area is only a few meters inside the gate, and the hotel supplied an amazing porter to carry the baggage to our room. We especially appreciated the comfortable bed with good reading lights, and the drying rack on the balcony. Despite its central location, the room was surprisingly quiet at night, and we could not believe the zillions of stars above. The folks in reception were very helpful and gave us an excellent map and great advice. Breakfast was in a separate building and there was a huge variety of delicious items. Most of the town’s restaurants are only a few steps away from the rooms. We particularly liked Matoula for its great service and beautiful sea view and ate there several times. Galera Gelato was another favorite for their irresistible ice cream. The town is very small and walkable but is not easy for anyone with mobility challenges; the cobblestones and stairs require extra caution. It’s definitely worth a hike up the cliff to see the Upper Town, and outside the east wall to visit the lighthouse. This beautifully preserved town is absolutely magical, and the Byzantino Hotel is the perfect place to stay to soak up its historical atmosphere.

There’s not much to add to the superlative reviews from other guests other than to say we had a most enjoyable stay at this historic destination. Our room wasn’t huge but it had a lot of character, a comfortable bed and nice linen plus a balcony from which to enjoy a bit of a sea view. The service at reception was outstanding. The cafes and restaurants along the cobbled streets served fine fare and most had tables with decent views out to sea. Don’t bother trying to park your car anywhere along the incline up to the castle portico. Just leave it in the town car park and walk a few steps to catch the bus which leaves every half hour in each direction. It’s cheap and saves a potentially very long walk. We loved Byzantino Boutique Hotel and it’s surroundings. Also you must visit the clean SANDY beach at Elafonisos Island which is about 1/2 hour drive followed by a 10 minute ferry ride. The beach has calm, crystal clear water, plus food and drinks service direct to your beach lounger/ umbrella. It really is a great day out!

Set in a magnificent and very scenic setting, the hotel has various rooms overlooking the small town of Monemvasia. We had a beautiful room overlooking the town with a balcony, excellent WiFi, good beds and a nice bathroom. Communications before our arrival were excellent and the costs were very reasonable. The staff were very professional and helpful and the room itself very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed finding our way around this beautiful town. You do have to be mindful that it is cobbled streets throughout and steep climbs to some of the rooms in the hotel and around the town. The only slight downside was that we thought the breakfast was limited with too many sweet choices so not really to our taste. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you visit Monamvasia and would also book again if we return. Thank you for a very welcoming stay 😊

Room Tip:Monemvasia is a “must visit” but not easy to get around if you have limited mobility.

We stayed one night while touring the Peloponnese. The hotel is within the old walls of the castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful - the front desk person spoke perfect English and a gentleman affectionately called Hercules carried our luggage to our room. Our room was #1. It is large with old wooden floors and beams in the ceiling with a larger-than-average bathroom and AC. The best part is the large balcony that looks out over the city and sea. We wish we had more time to spend enjoying the views. The bed was adequate for a night. Breakfast was excellent with a large selection of items ranging from cooked eggs to meats and cheeses to pastries to yogurt. My only complaint, and I have this complaint with may hotels and restaurants in Greece, is the cats. There are cats everywhere and some are aggressive to the point of jumping in your lap as you eat. I don't mind cats walking around but it is annoying when they congregate around you looking for a handout or jump on you.

Absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful property. Reception of the hotel conveniently located on the Main Street of the Castle just steps away from the main gate, short walk to all the restaurants, cafes and bars. We have come to Monemvasia to celebrate Winter holidays and shared a family suite with fire place and beautiful vistas of the sea. Rooms are very cosy and offer traditional decor. Great Breakfast is served daily at the Breakfast room.

Like it happens in this kind of historical towns, the rooms are dispersed through the city, which adds to atmosphere and privacy. The reception is just a few steps from the entrance to Monemvasia Castle (you must park your car in the road outside... good luck finding a spot!). The room was tastefully decorated, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom design was superb, and breakfast delicious. The staff was always friendly and cooperative. And we had our own private terrace overlooking the sea. Would return to this hotel anytime!

Lovely room with a peaceful outdoor courtyard. We enjoyed views of the sea from the window. It was right in the heart of old town. We are at the nearby Kanoni restaurant and enjoyed the breakfast at the nearby cafe in the morning. The shower had hot water. The complimentary water was much appreciated after hiking up to old town. We would stay again.

We stayed here in June of 2022 and it was our favorite hotel in Greece. The hotel itself is spread out over several buildings just off the Main Street. You have to drop your luggage off at the city gate then go inside and left at the fork to get to the office on the main drag, then they show you to your room. If driving, you have to park on the very long causeway to the city and hoof it. Or you can park in the city parking lot just before the bridge and take a public bus to the gate (one every 30 minutes, I think). There is public swimming in the sea, by the sea wall. It’s pretty deep just an FYI and may not be great for small children or poor swimmers. Breakfast was ok.

The room is very large and clean, located under the central square with the cannon. The breakfast buffet is perfect with great savory or sweet flavors, juice and hot coffee and finally a big thank you to the kind lady Iota at the reception. Everything was wonderful.

We visited this hotel, as a family. Everything was excellent, first of all the location inside the caste near the central square. Then it was very clean, and the most important, the owner and the staff were very helpful. The owner offered to help us, since we needed to wash our baby clothes, and she really went out of her way, washed and ironed our clothes so we could continue our road trip! We are really thankful 💯

The location is 2 and a half hours drive from Kalamata airport or 4 hours drive from Athens airport. I'm not sure about the transfers costs. We went by own car.
