Excellent preserved hotel, with very helpful staff. If you are a fan of classical music this is the place to be. Excellent location, very close to the center but also quiet. Drinking coffee in your room, or in the lobby after 6 is a bit of a problem.

If you visit Monemvassia, don't miss Mrs Theophano and her fascinating guesthouse. We were given - in early September - the most beautiful room ( the biggest one, top floor) usually used for honeymoon. I was travelling with my son, but the panorama of the square seen from the balcony, the beauty of the Byzantine village, the magic of that...

Excellent location with elegant ambience. Fani, the proprietress, is a welcoming, helpful and gracious hostess. Accomodations are highlighted with interesting artworks which complement the architecture. Breakfasts are tasty and satisfying.

We stayed at Theophano based on positive reviews. The location is on the far side of the castle, which makes you feel truly immersed in the castle experience. The room with a balcony, delicious breakfast, beautiful sea views, were perfect for a romantic stay. Fani is a gracious and beautiful person. If you have awkward luggage for the cobblestone paths,...

I really want to give this hotel 5 stars, but just can't do it. First the positives - location, the buildings themselves, the view of the sea. The negatives - owner almost "insists" on cash for payment, despite no notice of this on any website and the absence of any ATM machines in the town. In other respects, the owner...

Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed the location and buildings of the hotel. It is precisely these historic buildings that, on the one hand, are very attractive and on the other impose many limitations. One such limitation is room/bathroom size. Because of the strict restoration rules, we had to follow the footprint of the original 17th....

This is a charming establishment run by Fani, an Athenian lawyer whose parents established it. We were given a spacious room with a balcony and really loved our two days in extraordinary Monemvasia. Breakfast could have been more exciting and it took us some time to rouse a staff member to come and show us the way when we arrived,...

It is now more than five years that I'm visiting Monemvasia and one of the main reasons is also my stay to Theophany Art Hotel. A real art hotel where you can enjoy the harmony of the environment with the hotel and its hostesses. Mrs Fanny always ready to help and assist her guests to discover the area, the rooms...

A wonderful contemporary Greek boutique hotel with unique rooms and an artistic personality. A great hostess and a perfect setting on the ancient rock of Monemvasia. Each room has a name and an identity with pieces of art and antique furniture matching the very historic and picturesque setting of the hotel. Call the owner and book direct to get the...

My husband and I stayed in this hotel on our first visit to Monemvasia. The rooms are nicely decorated in a traditional style. The owner was lovely, she greeted us with cold drinks on our arrival and provided delicious breakfasts. Nearly everything was home-made, including the bread, jam and cake and the cheese and cold meats were locally sourced. As...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The name Theophano Art Hotel is an expression of the fact that, apart from wishing to create a unique environment for guests, we also wanted to display our family collection of art and antique furniture, lovingly hand picked on our travels in Greece and abroad during the last twenty years. The collection ties in wonderfully with the buildings, and invites guests to enjoy it both in their rooms and the hotel's common areas. The common areas are an important part of the hotel as the accommodation is extended outside the individual rooms. The hotel offers a breakfast room and a lounge which overlook the Myrtoo Sea, where guests may enjoy their breakfast, or relax in different times in the day. There is also a shady veranda, a roof terrace with panoramic views and several separate lounges where guests may play board games, read, use the internet. These spaces are also used for events of different kinds. In the past we have successfully hosted book presentations and poetry readings, jewelry and painting exhibitions, classical music concerts, yoga retreats and weddings! In our hotel no two rooms are the same making every stay a whole new experience for guests, no matter how many times they return. The rooms differ both in terms of architecture, views, orientation, size and balcony as well as in terms of decoration and furnishings. Thanks to this, guests forget that they are in a hotel room and they find themselves immersed in the warm atmosphere of a mansion house. The hotel's location, on the square of Chrysafitissa, the largest open space within the Castle, is absolutely stunning. Once there, the visitor can directly enjoy panoramic views of the sea, the historic fortifications and the traditional settlement. ... more   less
