Enchanting location for couples of all ages. Thanks to the team at Likinia for making us feel welcome and enjoying our stay so much. Breakfast was a delight, especially when we sat at our balcony room admiring the view out to sea.
This is a medieval hill top town. With cobbled uneven streets. If that’s for you then this place is great. The rooms are very clean and quirky as is the bathroom. Service is attentive. Need a sea view to get the best of your stay.
Our experience of this hotel was clearly very different to that of the other reviewers. It didn’t start well. The male proprietor was clearly harried and pretty much sprinted his way to our room, leaving us for dust. There was no attempt at a welcome, if anything it felt like we were an annoying inconvenience. The room was fine. Except the bit that wasn’t. The bathroom was around 1.5 square metres and contained a toilet, sink and “shower”. Where do we start? The shower has no attachment, you have to hold it. Apparently, after a brief discussion with the owner, that’s a feature. The reason is pretty clear, the real risk of water hitting the mains light fitting that intrudes practically into the shower space with the billowing, part broken curtain as the only barrier. Oh, and the shower space has a window that you can’t occlude. If you like showering in full view of the neighbours, you’re in for a treat here. And you are supposed to trip the electricity supply to the shower before and after use (one suspects because of the dangerous isolation issue). Nothing shouts “holiday!” quite like spending quality time with a mains fuse box. Breakfast, under the arch, was fine. We were asked if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out. There was a stunned look when we didn’t sing the hotel a round of hosannas. And that was it. Nothing else. No apology. Better not to ask than to feign caring, no? Monemvasia is a magical place. Don’t let the Likinia spoil your memories of it. All the hotels are pretty charming and I suspect most don’t charge a premium for personal jeopardy.…
If you want to experience Monemvasia, start with going there! Second: walk around in both lower town and upper town. Third: walk around the island via the lighthouse "follow the red dots". Last but not least: stay over in one of the finest hotels of Monemvasia Likinia. The beds sleep like you've never. The breakfast is besides the lovely scenery, delicious! And yes the people are nice, warm and kind. Treat them equally as such. Likinia - Yes you'll fall in love.
We really enjoyed our visit to this lovely place. The hotel was beautifully and sympathetically built on ruins to fit in with the castle environment. The staff were friendly and the room well decorated with beautiful wooden fittings. Breakfast was good, despite Coronavirus restrictions, taken within a long covered passage with pots of flowers, we loved the smell of the jasmine.
