Description and photos of the accommodation do not correspond to the truth. The ad and my booking confirmation show a very spacious accommodation with a large bathroom; the description says "1 double bed and 1 sofa bed". Instead they provided us with a very small studio with a very small bathroom, so they had to remove the small table and put it out to put our son's cot. No sofa bed, of course. To my protests they replied that this is the accommodation I have booked and they don't know why a****b website shows the wrong photos and the wrong description. I didn't insist because we had to sleep there only 1 night, spending the whole day in Monemvasia but my family and I felt cheated. I paid 60 euros for a nice and spacious accommodation as described and shown in pictures, but they provided me with a very small one with a wardrobe smelling like mold. Moreover, at the time of my booking I asked for a baby cot. The day before arriving I wrote them again for the cot. On our arrival the cot war not there and the guy at the reception seemed not to know what I was talking about.…
A friend and I booked this as we planned our last min Greece trip. As students, we were looking for a cheap accommodation and stumbled upon this and we were quite reluctant to book as there are so many mixed reviews online....So now, after staying there, I can finally put a review in my own words and try help those who wish to book and who are sitting at the computer at 1am trying to find out if the accommodation is worth it at the given price... Let's just remember... If you going to pay cheap, you not going to get luxury comfort! So if you paying a lot less, don't complain that the bed is too hard... Douka is located 10 mins away from actual Monemvasia. So it's pretty easy to get to with a car. Literally one road! The man who checked us in was super super super helpful and kind. You can park your car RIGHT OUTSIDE your room! The swimming pool is HUGE and beautiful with the bougainvillea surrounding it, and the pool also has a diving board! The pool gets to 3m deep. The pool also over looks the ocean which is just seperated by a road! We swam here (around rocks) instead of trying the actual beach which is a 10 Min walk away from the hotel. The room is average (obviously). We had a double bed AND a single bed. It was indeed very clean! There were extra pillows and thicker blankets in the closet if needed! The bathroom was newly renovated and actually really really great. The shower pressure was awesome and the general modern-ness of the bathroom was fantastic.. …
I first stayed at villa douka in Monemvasia as a small child many years ago and it was wonderful. Beautiful views, nice swimming pool, walking distance from the beach and a short 10 minute drive to Monemvasia. However returning a number of years later was quite disappointing. The place really needs upgrading and renovating. We stayed in a 2 bedroom flat which had loads of space and had more or less everything we needed but there were a number of things that could have been improved easily. The toilet was not clean and there were barely any light bulbs in the light fittings. Saying that the sheets and towels were spotless. The gardens are beautiful and maintained, the bouganvillea is just the most stunning you have seen. But again the swimming pool area is all fine and looked after but the ladders to get in and out the pool are rickety and rusty. Overall it is very reasonable, we paid nothing for 3 of us in peak season and it is lovely to be away from the hustle and bustle. But it does really need some updating and some attention to detail. I would return if the place was done up a bit. The views from the balcony are lovely and would be a shame if this place is not restored to its former glory.…
We booked here due to how beautiful the pictures looked and due to having a pool. Well, how misled we were, it was more than disappointing! The pictures on the websites do not reflect the real place which is run down, lack of facilities as not even a kettle for a hot drink. This place certainly needs a refurbishment and to think I paid €107.60 for one night. I was only grateful it was one night and could not check out quick enough! I certainly would not recommend! However, visiting Monemvasia was worth the pain!
We stayed here (two families from England) last week. It was the most expensive place we stayed in Greece ... and the worst. The guy at the front desk was very nice, but otherwise the place was a real rip off. The setting is nice, but inside the apartments are very run down. I think they rely on one-night visitors to Monemvasia and simply don’t care that they are getting a bad deal. Rather than going on about it, here is a picture of the contents of one of our kitchen cupboards.... (it’s a dying cockroach lying on its back,if not obvious).
