Detailed Reviews
First, the staff is AMAZING and goes above and beyond to accommodate any and all request. I stayed for a birthday and the room was decorated daily and we were even upgraded from a garden villa (very good room for privacy) to a sunrise water bungalow (not as private but amazing views). Each guest has a butler that can accommodate most reasonable request. Every staff member was friendly and kept the island very clean. The rooms were decorated as expected from a St. Regis and the quality was what you’d expected from this level of Marriott brand. The beaches were also some of the best in the world with white sands, clear shallow waters and cleaned daily. The library is also a cool feature if you want some quiet relaxation away from everything.
Next, you can arrive to the island via seaplane (takes about 45 mins and costs about $700 USD per person ) or by yacht (takes 5 hours and cost should be no concern if choosing this option). The hotel will gladly arrange all transportation to and from Male.
Now for the bad, the cost of the hotel is high as expected. But with such a cost you expect better quality food options. The hotel has amazing service but the food is terrible! The hotel provides good breakfast buffet and gives tap water for breakfast. But for lunch and dinner when you are paying, the restaurants are not allowed to give tap water and you are forced to pay $15 per bottle of water. The food is ridiculously priced and it’s likely because you don’t have any other options to choose from so you must pay. All of the food is expensive (expected on such a resort), however, the quality was not worth the costs. For the cost to the food, and having a Michelin Starred chef, I’d expect quality tasting food.
Overall, the resort is great and you get all of the benefits associated with your Marriott status. I’d stay again if you want the luxury lifestyle but honestly, the Sheraton is a much better value for the money. If cost is no concern, this is the place for you. If you want good value for your money or points, there are other Marriott options in the Maldives.

From the moment we were greeted by a St. Regis representative at Male airport to the final excort to our departure flight our experience was nothing less than spectacular. We arrived in Male after sunset so we stayed over night in a local hotel and took the first seaplane out in the morning. The departure lounge while waiting for the seaplane offered great ambience and amazing service. The seaplane experience and arrival to the island being greeted by waving staff seemed like a picture straight out of Fantasy Island. Our butler Katie met us at arrival and was by our side (only when we wanted her to be) for the entire visit. Katie did an amazing job of keeping up with our ever changing schedules and took care of our every need. From the bike rides, snorkeling off of our private pool dock, private sunset champage & caviar trip aboard the Norma and Valentine's Day dinner on a private beach eveything was special and no detail was spared. Abra, where we had our morning breakfast, offered many different options and Athit was a pleasure every morning and always greeted us with a smile as well as supplied us with fantastic service. Our housekeeper Ehabb always had a small note or small gesture waiting for us when we returned from dinner and kept our villa looking fresh everyday. Tuna was our server at our private beach dinner and he offered nothing short of 5 star restaurant service. From the crew on Norma including Faiaa and the Asian restaturant manager Nippi every team member showed us the highest level of care. We have decided to make this an annual trip and look forward to returning next year.

It’s my second time to Maldives (I previously stayed in the W). St Regis is beautiful, peaceful and you feel like you never want to leave.
Due to being bonvoy elite, we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom villa over the water with breakfast included each day. However, we still paid so much for dinner! But it’s to be expected in the Maldives. As well as the sea plane being extremely expensive (nearly 800 dollars per person) this is something to bear in mind when booking. However, check in was so smooth. They take care of it all at the seaplane waiting room so when you arrive to the island, your personal butler for your stay greets you and takes you straight to your room (or a tour if you prefer). Anything you need, they will take care of. Special thank you to Mohammed. He was amazing. I needed headache tablets and sea sickness tablets and he got them for me right away! As well as booking our restaurants and excursions. The dolphin quest was great (however, long!) it took us an hour to find them but it was worth it when we did! The turtle quest, the sea was choppy so it wasn’t enjoyable and we didn’t see any turtles, sadly.
Restaurants: the breakfast (Alba) was very nice. Oriental was ok but the whale bar was the best for us (keep in mind, all are expensive! We paid $1000 for our last meal for 3 people).
The water is the clearest blue you will ever see. One tip is to ask your butler for the snorkel in your room once you arrive as we didn’t have this (W gave us throughout our stay).
Overall, we loved the place and atmosphere so much we wanted to extend another night. Thank you to all the staff and we will definitely return.

My husband and I chose to stay here for our honeymoon. It was amazing! Our butler Adam did everything we needed to ensure we had an incredible time. He even left us a nice bath setup for our honeymoon and set us up with a time to experience the blue hole pool at the spa!
The food we ate all over the property was incredible. Cargo was so filling and good! We even were able to enjoy a beach bbq set up and that was so good! Basically all the food was high quality. Even the private dining team went above and beyond in their set up and clean up when we simply were too lazy to leave the room for lunch.
Another fun perk of staying here is the evening champagne ritual at the whale bar. I won’t spoil it but it’s certainly something you don’t want to miss!
The snorkeling around the over water villas was surprisingly quite nice. A lot of coral is still damaged but I also noticed a lot of coral growing back. We were able to see reef sharks and rays and of course many species of colorful fish. We additionally signed up for a turtle snorkel. Although we didn’t see turtles, we still went to an incredible reef site with bright corals, beautiful fish, and amazing go pro photo footage. The marine biologist with the resort was able to point out things we otherwise may not have noticed. So even without turtles we had a great time!
Something that really stuck out though was the team stayed with us as we were leaving the Maldives. We had an issue with our ticket due to re booking because of border closures due to the virus. The St Regis team stayed with us and our luggage until everything was solved and helped to ensure we would make our fight. That’s when I really saw the extra steps St Regis takes to make sure it’s guests are well taken care of. None of the other resorts were with their guests at the airport. My husband and I highly appreciated this extra touch in a time of stress not knowing if we were going to get home. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Maldives I cannot recommend the St Regis enough. Their butler service was just out of this world incredible.

This was our first trip to the Maldives and the St. Regis did not disappoint. It was such an amazing experience where you were able to briefly forget about the pandemic.
Our butler's Mariya and Shamiu were always available by WhatsApp (excellent wifi throughout the island) to shuttle us around in golf carts, showing us the island, and basically arranging anything you needed. They would stop by and see us every morning for breakfast to see if we needed anything at all.
Ahmed was able to get us into these breathtaking Sunset Overwater Villas where we snorkeled in our "backyard" and saw diverse fish and many turtles throughout the week.
Jaleel and his staff at Alba and Orientale treated us like family and would cater to our every needs. We were fortunate that Chef Devjeet from The St. Regis in Mumbai was there to train the cooks so we ordered the most amazing Indian food from off the menu. Sunny, Pop, Jenif, Athif and especially Sobree became our family for our meals and would share their personal stories at breakfast and dinner.
Even the manager Harish would constantly stop by our table and make sure we were taken care of.
Everyone on the island gets their own bikes so we were able to bike around the island and explore as well as bike to breakfast and lunch every day. The attention to detail is impeccable from the pickup/departure lounge in Male to the seaplane transfer to everything you can image at the island.
Most of all however is the friendly, caring nature of the Maldivian people. We were so sad to leave them after 5 unforgettable nights and I cannot recommend this resort enough to anyone who wants to travel to the Maldives.

Have the opportunity to return back to the Maldives for a short break and Vommuli is the island I have selected.
Nice selection of breakfast items and freshly brewed coffee are available at Seaplane Lounge while waiting for a flight from Male to Vommuli.
The resort has great products and fantastic service as expected in the top hotel brands.
Great selections of buffet breakfast with good quality products, on top of that the full a la carte breakfast main dishes also able to order.
Water Villa with swimming pool on the sunset side is a nice location, but recommend not to swim as it was a very strong current.
The room has huge spaces, good quality hardware, and a great layout.
Overall the resort has great products and extremely high-quality service, especially on Restaurants and Bars side.

This has been an intended destination for 12 years and we finally now or never. We agreed on the St. Regis and that was definitely the right choice. No denying it is costly, but you get what you pay for. From the moment the seaplane docks you are continuously pampered. We opted for the larger St. Regis Suite but in hindsight, we really wanted to see the sunset from our room which makes me advise to reserve a sunset overwater villa since #521 does not see much of either sunrise or sunset. Then you’re guaranteed a sunset. Additionally, the pool is quite cold since the sun never touches it.
There were some missteps along the way but we’re quickly rectified by our expert butler Shamiu. He was consistently composed and honestly told us “if you need anything, I’ll make it happen”. And he did. He probably was annoyed that we insisted on always riding our bikes to spa, dinner, diving appointments instead of having him drive us in the golf cart!
10 days was a perfect amount of time for spa treatments, diving, sunning, snorkeling, kayaking, whale shark trip, private island day, yacht charter and private beach dinners.
Highly recommend a day / sunset on Norma.
Highly recommend day on a remote sandbar.
Highly recommend scuba diving.
Don’t recommend whale shark hunting. Poor odds of actual sightings.
Daily breakfast was included, so we had a nice sized meal to start and skipped lunch with a different dinner each night. Private beach dinner was the best. Whale Bar Grill was second best. Orientale was third. Cargo was great food but just too much. Never ate at Crust. Alba was the breakfast buffet, which was very good and the bonfire bbq dinner was okay(another buffet).
If you wish to be pampered, you will be here! I can’t return soon enough!

We spent 10 nights at the St Regis Maldives for our honeymoon. I cannot say enough about the staff, facilities, activities and overall environment of the resort. From the moment we landed in Male and we’re met by the airport Butlers we felt “taken care of” by some of the nicest people we have encountered when traveling.
After a brief stop in the St Regis lounge, where were offered drinks and snacks, we took a 40min seaplane to the resort. We were greeted by the manager and two other staff members who welcomed us with coconut water and a cool towel. For the next 10 days, we stayed at a sunset overwater room with Shamiu as our Butler. Shamiu was an amazing host who made our stay very special, always looking to help coordinate activities and he had made reservations for dinner each night before we arrived. He was thoughtful and attentive!
We enjoyed breakfast each morning at Alba with Pina, Erni, Mohammed among others. The breakfast was a fantastic way to start each morning, complete with prosecco and bloody mary’s if desired. The belgian waffles and daily pastries were great. All restaurants were good, with the Whale Bar (steak and seafood) and Oriental(japanese and chinese) being our favorites. At almost every meal, staff members were checking in to ensure everything was good and if we needed anything, it was a nice touch to see so many people interested to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Sunset cocktails at the whale bar each night was a great ritual.
The snorkeling off the beach was amazing with turtles, rays, sharks (black tip reef), and hundreds of colorful fish. We enjoyed exploring the island by bike and often chose to ride to meals and activities, though a “buggy” was always a phone call away. We did the private island picnic and it was as amazing as it sounds, it’s expensive (we revived as a wedding gift from friends) but it truly was a once in a lifetime experience! We did the dolphin excursion and saw some dolphins, which was fun.
The spa at the resort was unbelievable with fantastic facilities and excellent masseuses. We would highly recommend the Iridium massage. All in all, we had very high expectations and the St Regis Maldives exceeded them.
If/when we have the chance to travel so far again, we will look forward to returning!!

Villa preference: No one stays in the garden villas, which is why they only have 4. It’s in the middle of the island and you don’t see anything. You didn’t travel all the way to Maldives to stay in the garden villa. If you want overwater, make sure you book a SUNSET overwater villa or the St Regis overwater villa (assuming 2 adults in your party). These offer maximum privacy as the majority of them are facing the ocean. The regular overwater villas may end up indirectly facing each other or face the beachfront villas. As far as the beachfront villas, I can see why they are considered a higher category than the overwaters. Each comes with a sizable private beach in front of the villa and you can just walk right into the water, which is arguably a big preference for those who cannot swim. The overwater villas are quite deep, especially during high tide so life vest or knowing how to swim, is highly recommended.
Activities: Stand up paddleboard and kayaking is free of charge, 1 hour per day. Glass-bottom kayaking costs $60/hr and may be worth it if you are not a snorkeler. Just beware that they have 2 glass bottom kayaks and only one of them has comfortable glass seats in it. The other one is just a big glass boat and hurts after 20 minutes of no back support. We also tried the shared Maldivian sunset fishing at $115 / person and it was totally worth it. Even though I didn’t catch any fish, I saw the most mesmerizing sunset on this 2 hour excursion. For an extra $50, you can keep the fish and eat it at Alba restaurant the next day, either for lunch or for dinner. If you didn’t catch any fish, the staff working there may just give you the fish they caught so that you can do the $50 eat option.
Special shoutout to Umar, our butler during our stay. Each room comes with a bottle of champagne as the welcome amenity and he let us saber it on our deck! How cool is that?! He also replenished the fruit basket on a daily basis as well as 15 bottles of Schweppes water in our room daily. I am quite impressed with how tech savvy St Regis Maldives is. You scan a QR code instantly adds your butler’s contact info into Whatsapp. No more guessing game / fussing around with figuring out the correct country code / prefix to include to get the contact to show up. IMO, Whatsapp is the most efficient method of communicating with the butler. The longest I have ever had to wait for a reply was a mere 5 minutes. Lost my key card? No problem, just message Umar and replacement card arrives in 10 minutes. Out of TP, message Umar and housekeeping arrives in 15.

My husband and I knew we wanted to go somewhere warm for our honeymoon and wanted this trip to be relaxing, peaceful yet adventuous! The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is all of those things and MORE! This was the BEST trip we have ever been on. The service, the cleaniness, the food, the ambiance all of it gets 5/5! Our butler Hussain was warm, geniune and the kindest gentleman! He took such good care of us and went out of his way to make us feel special. For example, my husband got really bad sunburn on his back and Hussain brought us fresh aloe with the nicest note! To me the little things mean a lot and Hussain made it a point to focus on those things! He was attentive, punctual, friendly, and more over very loving! He booked all of our reservations and if we changed our minds on something he made sure we got the reservations we wanted. We really liked the diffusers that the St. Regis has in all of their bathrooms and Hussain went out of his way to get the information for us on where to buy them! Each day we would come back to our room from excursions with something special in the room. For example one day we had a bathtub filled with roses that said "Happy Honeymoon" with a delicious cake on a table with leaf cut outs saying the same. (Little things really do go a long way) I could go on and on, but if you can get him as your butler you will be in great hands!
The restaurants were all amazing. We had breakfast at Alba everyday and it was just fantastic. The best breakfast selection I've ever seen. They catered to all cutlures, Chinese, Indian, Japenese, etc. Another small thing I noted was everyone from the restaurants remembered our names. It was as if we were old friends! Pop and Jenif from Alba had such great personailtes and were so warm and sweet! Orientale and Cargo were phenomenal and they had a good selection! I would recommend doing the half board option when booking your trip. This covers breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is so elaborate and filling that we didn't get hungry until the late evening. The Whale Bar is a must and I would recommend having a pre or after dinner cocktails there to watch the sunset! Another amazing option they have is to watch the sunset on their 66ft boat called the Norma. The hotel invited us on this boat with other couples and it was spectacular! It is two hours long and along the way we were able to see dolphins and enjoy some wine and appetizers! We had the oppourtunity to meet the GM Vincent who was absoultely wonderful! He was full of life and energetic and had a lot of knowledge about the St. Regis and other hotels as well!
The spa is unreal! They have this hydrotherapy pool that feels amazing and the massage was awesome! The spa is where morning yoga is held and you can't beat the views and the breeze you see and feel!
Even the lounge before you get on the seaplane is so nice! You are greeted with cold towels and after such a long journey there it felt amazing! Overall you can not go wrong booking this hotel for your stay in the Maldives! It is luxurious and the friendly staff is what made the experience so incredible!

We tipped $350 for a 7 night stay and $100 for the gentleman that cleaned our place.
I would say dinner will cost you roughly $100/person without drinks at most restaurants if you have an appetizer and entree. We split a pizza at the pool for lunch which was maybe $40-50?
Each of the beach front villas had plenty vegetation for privacy.
The monsoon season runs from May to October. Even when it rains, it is very unlikely to rain for days to an end but might rain for a couple of hours during the day or night leaving plenty of time to engage in watersports or just laze around in the sun simply doing nothing. Simply put, it is quite difficult to forecast weather in a tropical setting like ours.
A rainy day is an ideal day to enjoy a massage at the Iridium Spa or just enjoy an exquisite meal at one of our restaurants .
No, this does not seem right. We paid everything upon arrival and checkout right in our villa, as there is no formal checkin/lobby. Call the elite number and speak to someone. The manager at the St. Regis is amazing. Contact him Vincent Pauchon. He could not do enough for us and made any and every issue we had disappear and had the most memorable trip ever!!! Enjoy, it is truly heaven on earth!!!
