Nestled on a prime beachfront, the Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and lush surroundings, captivating guests with its blend of modernity and natural beauty. While the hotel's location and amenities like pools and beaches are often praised, some travelers have voiced concerns over the value, pointing to the high costs and aggressive upselling. Room experiences are mixed, with comfort noted but cleanliness and maintenance sometimes falling short. Additionally, guests find the service hit-or-miss, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with reports of disorganization.

The resort consists of several sections, one of them is kantenah. The rooms are comfortable, nice, you have a basic service of drinks like water, soft drinks and beer, in the room you have iron, dryer, in our case tub with whirlpool, and due to the location of this section the only views you will get will be to the greenery, you have cable TV channels and the air conditioning worked in our case quite well.
It is suggested to look for the waitress on arrival or the first day in the morning to indicate what time they can stop to perform the toilet (in the morning) we would leave at 7:00 am for breakfast and return to the room about 11:00 and always kept the room clean. There is a safe and sufficient towels.
To take advantage of the stay consider that the check in takes place at 15:00 hours and the check out at 12:00 hours, always arrive before 12:00 hours so that your bags are already in reception and you maintain the right to continue using the facilities and to consume inside the complex until the transport passes through you.
The people who work there are very friendly in general and explain in a good way and in a friendly way the amenities and areas that you can use during your stay (we went from the week of January 10 to 14 and the occupation in 95% was more foreigners), the people who work there will never demand a tip but we must be aware that with that they help a lot for the low seasons. Many of their staff live in communities near and far from the hotel and are from very early and some leave very late to get home, so nothing costs us a smile and a thank you, and yes it is in your chances to leave them a tip.
It is highly recommended to use the pools of the “white sands” area, they are less crowded and are newly remodeled, the pool and mini water park for children that are in the “colonial” section you will always see them crowded by being near the beach.
The beach is beautiful, this time we did not get so much sargassum, but the little that arrives is cleaned by the staff between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning. There is a rocky area that is not so busy but also an area where the turquoise blue looks spectacular giving you amazing postcards to share with your family and friends.
We'll definitely be back another time.

Just returned from a fantastic 2 week break in Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa

This is our honest opinion of the resort as we were a little worried after booking and seeing some of the negative reviews before we arrived.

Arrived in middle of a torrential downpour and the team at the Kantenah Lobby were so helpful, taking and marking up our cases and allowing us to go immediately to check in desk to check in. Alexa on check in was very nice and efficient with our check in and talking us through the location and facilities. She was very professional and apologetic as we had to experience another “guest” shouting and screaming at other reception staff in a disgraceful way because her room door electronic lock had failed. The staff dealt with her better than I would have!!

We then went back to lobby entrance where we were swiftly taken to our room location 4318 by “golf cart”. Again lobby staff and “golf cart” drivers were swift and efficient and insisted on taking our cases up to our room so we did not have to spend anymore time than required in the rain. They showed us all the items in room like safe and the drinks fridge. Drinks were stocked up daily as used (4 beers, soft drinks and water) and sheets and towels replaced regularly too.

The room was excellent. Very nice and clean, the bed was huge and I miss it now we are back to our own king size 😊. Excellent shower and bathroom with jacuzzi type bath. Balcony looked on to the “jungle” area as expected.

As this was our first evening and arriving around 4pm local time, we showered and changed and then went down to the Buffet restaurant, La Hacienda. Lots of choice of all different types of food to suit anyone’s eating habits. Busy but again swift in getting seated by the front of house staff. Lots of show cooking to experience.

Great choice of A La Carte restaurants to choose from which you could book two days in advance through the Concierge, but I would recommend downloading the app like we did which allowed to book restaurants in advance, and sometimes earlier than the concierge who was normally queued first thing in the morning. We tried all the A La Carte restaurants at least once, each time booking through the app, except the Japanese restaurant which had to be booked through the concierge. Only poor meal we had was at the Italian – Portofino, where restaurant seemed understaffed (we were over an hour later than our booking in being seated) and some of the food was stone cold when served.

My rating order for A La Carte restaurants would be:-
1. El Dorado
2. Chang Thai
3. La Paisana
4. Bahia E Brasai
5. Poseidon (beautiful beach location)
6. La Adelita
7. Portofino.

With regards to bookings for the restaurants, we had a last minute cancellation at Bahia E Brasai the night we had booked it, but were swapped to the Poseidon restaurant in its place. We were disappointed to find out that it was likely that Bahia E Brasai probably would not open again before our departure due to a small refurbishment. Luckily it opened again on the Thursday before our departure. The wonderful Concierge Monse and her team, who when they found out that Bahia E Brasai was to reopen, they contacted us and sorted out another booking for our last night. Monse was also in contact the rest of our holiday to see if there was anything else we needed. This was above and beyond our expectations and very much appreciated of Monse.

We did not attend the Chic Cabaret or the Bravo dinner and dance as the menu was limited and not really what we would be looking to eat.

The pool area was huge and majority of time when we went down after breakfast we got sunbeds in a suitable location. You do have the usual with people being down at 7am etc securing their beds with one towel spread over 2 beds or throwing down a cap or a book to “secure their” bed. Absolutely no need for this nonsense and is possibly something the complex should look to deter as half the beds lie unused most of the day. Poll area there are always maintenance staff looking to ensure it is as clean as possible. Towels are available and you are given a hire card per person to have towels for pool for your entire stay, then you return the card at the end of your stay when checking out.

Poolside bars were all within easy reach including the actual pool bar. All bar drinks are named brands unlike other all inclusive destinations we have visited.

The entertainment around the pool was non-stop. Whether it be the many activities put on through the day by the “People of Palladium” team around the pool, live music, or indeed the wildlife, especially the Coates being up to mischief, or the Iguanas strolling around. Don’t drop any food or you’ll have the lovable rogues that are the Coates who love to find food. Again if you leave your bag unattended and there is food in it, you can expect the Coates to be in about it as the will sniff it out. 😊

Regarding the wildlife, we were also lucky to see the Monkeys twice and mongoose running around, little geckos etc and various birds and sea life. Seen one small snake at night over in White Sands that staff were looking to return to woodland area from one of the walkways outside the restaurants.

Beach is also pretty much right next to the pool area and is a beautiful location. Some locations are rocky and also parts have lots of seaweed but it is stunning and they do try to reduce the amount of seaweed especially in the central location. Lots of sunbeds here too. There are again wildlife in sea as expected, with fish swimming around you, crabs in amongst the rocky areas, and Stingray which on the calmer days can be seen buried in the sand in the shallow water.

Night time entertainment on in Colonial Theatre we did not fully catch as we tended to have dinner later. Caught live band and disco parts whilst sitting in either Colonial or White sands lobby and all were fine. Kantenah lobby bar had entertainment every alternate evening and the young lady who played a few of these evenings with the keyboard was very chilled and enjoyable.

Sports bar is the coolest temperature bar you will find. The lobbies are open plan so not really air conditioned and only electric fans to circulate the air, so on very humid evenings it can be really “sticky” to sit in. Food in Sports bar can be hit or a miss. Disappointed with the bland burrito, but the quesadilla was nice. Depending on what sport you request, you may be lucky. Football match we were in for was played through You Tube and kept getting picture blocked with large white square or advert. Ended up watching on my own tablet. Wi-Fi really good all through complex including in rooms. If anything it is hard to get full use around pool if you are looking for it there.

I also used the running machines in the gym. Gym was quiet when I used in morning or late afternoon. easier to run inside that in the intense heat and humidity.

To summarise, we would 100% recommend the complex and having visited all the hotel area’s we would definitely recommend the Kantenah section as I thought I was better all round for pool, beach and entertainment.

We spent a wonderful relaxing week at the Grand Palladium Kantenha. Despite being one of three hotels on a large resort it still manages to maintain a relaxed atmosphere due to no high-rise buildings and beautifully natural well maintained grounds. The wildlife in the resort was lovely with plenty of coati, agouti and iguanas to brighten up the day.

The a la carte restaurants we ate in included Thai, Argentinian, Brazilian and Japanese. Each of these had the feel of a standalone restaurant with good quality food and pleasant staff. The buffet restaurants sometimes had queues to enter but this was because each party was greeted at the entrance and shown to their table. This made the experience once inside a lot more relaxing than a free for all with everyone trying to find their own table.

On several days we took breakfast at the Gran Azul overlooking the pool. This was a favourite of ours as it was less busy than the buffet restaurant, open air and had visits from the local coatis which are always entertaining. We would like to call out the brilliant service we received from Arturo, he was so friendly and helpful every time we ate there and made breakfast a pleasure.

There is a wide choice of bars across the resort. During the day there are a number of and pool bars with plenty of friendly staff willing to take drink orders from your lounger. The lobby bars are also open all day and at night they serve excellent cocktails there. A second call out here to Isabel in the Kantenha Lobby Bar. When the bar was busy in the evenings she was amazing seemingly taking orders from one person, making cocktails for a second and serving a third simultaneously. Despite being so busy she remained friendly with customers and seemed to take pride in preparing every drink. If you are a sports fan, there is also a really nice sports bar in the Colonial Lobby which is open 24x7.

Our room, a standard room on the second floor, was large with a balcony and appeared to be newly refurbished. The room was serviced each day including topping up our mini bar with beer, soft drinks and water which was great. As mentioned, the grounds of the resort were beautifully kept with lovely flowers and plants. These and the wildlife made simply walking around the resort a real pleasure.

A couple of suggestions (not complaints) that would make the resort even better;

The app used to book a la carte restaurants is a bit flaky. Rather than go into each restaurant to see if there is availability which takes time, it would be better if you could search across all restaurants to show if they had any availability.

Whist the coffees on the lobby bars are good, we have previously attend resorts that have their own coffee shop. It would be amazing if the Grand Palladium had its own coffee shop.

To start off this is not a 5 start resort, the service was sub par never had enough towels in room , garbage not emptied daily is dont speak spanish dont go because they treat you different if speak English , we call in english for towels 1 1/2 hours get them we call in spanish get in 10 minutes. From moment arrived all they cared about was trying to book you a meeting to buy a time share. Unless you pay for upgraded room you cant get a reservation for restaurants so end up at buffet everyday, i tried to upgrade once i found this out and they said sold out. The staff is somewhat friendly at the bars, restaurants but the rest cant communicate and they are rude at times. Had a very bad experience at pool left my chairs for literally 10 minutes and someone came moved my belongs and threw in a corner by a tree, guess cant go to the bathroom or get a drink, then then family was screaming in spanish the staff did nothing to deescalate bc i didnt speak spanish, literally, Bottom line if looking for 5 star resort and service this is not the place and if dont speak spanish do no go they dont like people from USA !! I have traveled all over world never encountered such nonsense. AT least the weather was nice and the jersey boys show very good !!

We just returned from a week at the Grand Palladium Grand Kantenah, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The resort is beautifully clean and well-maintained, with a sprawling property that grants access to additional resorts, offering even more restaurants and pools to enjoy. The staff were truly outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always eager to help, which contributed to our overall feeling of safety and comfort.

However, while we had a relaxing time, there were a few areas that could use improvement. The food was decent but lacked the exceptional quality we experienced during a previous stay in Mexico about ten years ago. Additionally, we often encountered long lines at the bars, particularly at the lobby bar, where we waited over 20 minutes for a drink due to only one bartender being on duty.

Booking the à la carte restaurants was a frustrating experience, as many were fully booked or closed, and you could only reserve two at a time. The main buffet also had lengthy wait times, which was disappointing.

Upon check-in, we were immediately approached with a sales pitch for room upgrades, which felt a bit pushy. Over the next few days, we noticed a stark difference in treatment between upgraded guests and standard guests. The variety of upgrade options—Family Selection, TRS, Rewards Members, Club Members—was confusing, and it left us feeling undervalued as standard guests. Ultimately, we chose to upgrade to Family Selection for the last three days of our stay, which did offer some additional perks and slightly better treatment, but we still questioned whether the upgrade was worth it.

Additionally, we encountered staff members in blue shirts who approached us numerous times with offers of free extras in exchange for attending a presentation. While they started off friendly, the pressure to attend the presentation for their club membership, which they insisted was not a timeshare, was uncomfortable.

Lastly, despite us not having very high expectations the resort’s five-star rating, I believe falls short of that standard. Having stayed at various five-star hotels, I can confidently say this resort feels more like a 3.5 to 4-star property at best.

In summary, while we enjoyed our time at the Grand Palladium Grand Kantenah and appreciated the beautiful setting and friendly staff, there are definitely areas that need improvement to enhance the overall guest experience.

We just came back from this hotel a few days and I would go back tomorrow if I could as it has been amazing from the beginning to the end.
I have a few special mentions for the team at the Kids club and I want to say to each and one of them thank you so much, you made my daughter's holiday and birthday great and special! Thank you Emma, Brian, Jessi, Karen, Lorenia, Gaby, Maggie, Alejandro. They made her birthday special by singing to her and bringing her gifts. They were always joyfull and nothing was too much for them, I totally appreciate their hard work!
Moreover, I want to mention the housekeeping team which are so lovely and talented 😍 thank you Yacdaly and Wilma (room 4516) who made our stay even more pleasant by making swans and monkeys our of towels on my daughter's bed and they also brought flowers and leaves and arranged them so nicely on the bed! Thank you 😊
The restaurants that we liked the most were the following:La Hacienda ( thank you so much to Ricardo Avila and Juan Carlos Tamay- great customer service, you are a super asset for the company, you have been absolutely great), The Japanese, The Argentinian and the Thai. We didn't like the Brazilian too much as there was too much meat with no vegetables (just not my cup of tea).
We stayed in Kantenah which was the best out of the 3 resorts at the time as white sands was closed for renovation and Colonial didn't have same facilities and was not so close to restaurants as the other 2.
This was the best holiday of my life so far and I would recommend this hotel to anyone, I couldn't find a fault.
The shops within the complex are ridiculously expensive and the stuff are just oblivious when you ask a question, but this didn't affect my stay.
The beach is out of this world and the sea water was really warm and calm.
We had a trip to Tulum one of the days where we swam with the turtles, swam in a cenote and visited Tulum itself- this was booked at the hotel with a lovely lady called Carmen and it was $380 for 2 adults and a 7 years old child.
Also, the staff at the Sports bar were really nice and there is this lady (I believe her name was Carmela) which ran after me as I forgot something on the table) - she is one of the most genuine persons I've ever seen and she gave me a really nice vibe, she was lovely! Thank you, great customer service

I’ll start with the positives:
-The beach was lovely and the chairs to sit out by the water were very nice and relaxing. Overall the facilities were nice.
-If you have young children (we did not), there are lots of kid friendly activities and things to do to keep them entertained
-The shower in the room was great! Pressure was fabulous and it was very hot.
-lots of cool wildlife sightings around including iguanas, monkeys, and mongoose
-The gym was spacious and had lots of equipment

Now the negatives:
-Perhaps the most frustrating was the food reservation system. We were a group of four and checked in on a Friday. We were not allowed to make any reservations before we arrived but when we arrived we were told there were no reservations available and that we could either go to the buffet or try to use the app to make one. We had dietary restrictions in the group, so the buffet was not preferable. Of course on the app it said no reservations available and for the ones that were, we couldn’t book for four people since we were two per room. We were advised that the reservations would open two days before on Sunday so my husband and I woke up early to stand in line at 7am (yes, 7am on vacation) only to be told there was a new rule and the reservations would only be for one day prior so we had essentially woken up for no reason. We had a reservation for the next day that we had booked through the app and when we arrived, the restaurant was closed and there was not much the concierge could do to help us. When we selected an all inclusive we did it so as not to have to think about food but we found ourselves continually frustrated around this and it significantly detracted from our experience.
-The staff. In general they were not helpful and couldn’t be bothered. It was not a customer first kind of situation at all and they preferred to chat with their friends vs assist. The concierges were also barely willing to help.
-The cleaning staff. We asked for extra pillows one night which they never brought. The next day there was a ludicrous amount of pillows in the room but they took off all the pillow cases. One appeared to be moldy and several were stained. The staff also kept putting a pillow that smelled on the bed. Also, they cleaned our room and took our dirty towels but never replaced them.
-We had booked one Queen sized bed but our room came with two full sized beds so we were cramped onto one small bed.
-there were new rules that made our experience worse nearly every day. On our second to last day, they decided we couldn’t get more than one towel per person for the pool.

Overall I think if you like to drink or don’t care about eating buffet food or have young children, this is the place for you. However I found we were more frustrated by all the little things and the food scenario that it significantly impeded our trip. Additionally, had the staff been pleasant and willing to help, that might have made it better but they were not.

We have a lot of experience in this type of hotels.
The facilities are quite good although there are better and cheaper hotels for children.
The restaurants and food are very good, something that sets this chain apart.
The negative is the alarming lack of staff, as soon as you arrive you realize how overwhelmed they are. Especially taking into account that we have VIP benefits for being members, the Travel Club's customer service at a general level is TERRIBLE. The cart system is not reliable and you have to ask for it several times, it is difficult to have your room cleaned and when it is cleaned it leaves a lot to be desired, the reception of the travel club closes at 5 p.m., the butlers are never at their work and do not They respond to messages. The check-in was the worst I can remember in my entire life, they walked us through all the lobbies until someone finally did it to us.
In other hotel chains the member service is infinitely better than in this one, I hope they invest part of the fortune they charge and improve this service which is essential for members. Otherwise, it's really not worth it.

If you want to use the balcony often and have peace of mind, forget the rooms in blocks 41-42 on the highway side. Me it was good because I am never in the room except to sleep and wash. In the morning and lunch, choice of outdoor or air-conditioned buffet. Download the Palladium app for booking à la carte restaurants, it saves time. Choice of lobby, quiet Kentanah with small ambient music and Colonial with theater and atmosphere. The pool is clean, quite large, but a little deep for small people who want to carry their glass. The section of beach in front of Kentanah is super beautiful with no rock and shallow on a 200’. Beautiful clean site with lots of vegetation and fauna. For sports fans and especially Pickleball, you will be delighted.

Palladium Kantenah has the best, most friendly and hardworking staff I have ever experienced in decades of travel. They are always willing to help and answer questions and generally be of service to the guests of this hotel. They work extremely hard to keep everything clean and well maintained and it shows. Never was this more clear than when Hurricane Beryl roared through last night, a Category 2/3 at landfall. The eye passed 5 miles south of the resort.

The staff managed to feed everyone dinner before the hurricane made landfall. With diminished staff, they were actually RUNNING to make sure everyone was fed and cared for. Each room was also given bagged lunches to store in case things got really bad. Transport staff rushed to get stragglers to their rooms to ride out the storm. Water and electricity stayed on, probably by generator. Our room felt very sturdy and safe.

In the morning we awoke to lots of downed trees and debris everywhere. Clean up crews were already working to get things back in order and they were working fast. Cleaning was needed everywhere and staff were on it. The main dining room was open for breakfast and bars were served lattes to early risers. Specialty restaurants are open tonight, less than 18 hours after the night of the hurricane. Cleaning crews can be seen in these restaurants making everything right again. It is truly impressive and the staff and management deserve all credit. They have been ON IT.

Prior to the hurricane, small complaints would be some of the restaurant meals. They sure like to overcook beef and the desserts are unimpressive, but that is so inconsequential when compared to the professional service displayed during the hurricane. Kudos and thank you to all staff who work so hard.
