The island is teeming with exotic bird life, lush jungle foliage, and a spectacular array of fauna, while the reefs in the surrounding area offer world-class diving. This ideal retreat away from civilization, echoing with only the sound of the birds and the lapping of the waves under the bungalows. The resort also offers the only luxury spa in Raja Ampat. Spa in Paradise is a place of healing, relaxation, and rejuvenation. This tailor-made paradise for divers is the perfect place to see manta rays, sharks, and shoals of schooling fish, and explore reef slopes with some of the widest diversity of corals in the world. Seek out rare dugongs, hike at sunrise to see the stunning birds of paradise, and meet the wonderful local people of Raja Ampat. All this and more before ending the day with a perfect ocean sunset view from your private balcony.

We go to Papua Paradise every year and here are our ten cheers for this amazing place!
Cheer 1. The location is perfect, just 90 minutes from Sorong, a secluded island, surrounded by fabulous uncrowded diving but near to Kri and Fam if you want
Cheer 2. The bungalows are delightful, private, over water, beautifully constructed and furnished. There are always improvements and changes on every visit
Cheer 3 The restaurant and meals. Meals are varied, tasty, imaginative and the chefs are more than willing to cope with dietary needs/preferences. I have a few special favourite dishes which are served up soon after we arrive, The restaurant staff are patient, ever smiling and efficient, even coping with thoughtless divers trying to sneak in wearing their wet swimming clothes! (my pet hate)
Cheer 4 The welcome On the jetty makes every guest feel special, with dancing, singing and cheering from the staff. The musical skills are astonishing!
Cheer 5 The dive centre is well managed, organised and safe. Guests’ wishes are sought and actioned, So you can have ‘fishy’ or macro, currents or calm, local or day trip. Rental gear is well maintained and in good condition
Cheer 6 The dive guides. A mixture of local guides and those from Manado and Bali are all competent. We now ask for Hervil but he needs days off during our stays so we experience others. Let the dive managers know what sort of guide you want. Hervil takes us on, sometimes, wild adventures to new dive sites, knows our preferences and is considerate and fun guide...and no, you can’t ask for him if we are there!
Cheer 7 The diving. This is why we come to Raja Ampat and it doesn’t disappoint. The island is surrounded by dozens of great sites. There is always something new. I’ve never seen so many fish, blocking out the light, playing on the reef or in the current, and the macro life is crazy too. It’s a photographer’s dream
Cheer 8 The whole team. PP has a great team in all departments. Housekeeping staff are wonderful, putting our room back in order every day, boat crew, back room staff, front office, laundry, carpentry, grounds staff...a mixture of locals and people from other parts of Indonesia, with a good team spirit and willingness to chat when they meet guests...and sing and dance too! A visit to local villages between dives, with a boat captain from that village, is a real treat.
Cheer 9 Island animals and plants . Birie Island is full of butterflies, birds, insects (not mozzies thankfully) etc. Just walking along the paths you see a huge number of flowers, orchids, interesting trees. From our room we see dolphins, mantas, occasional whales and the elusive dugongs.
Cheer 10 The spa. It’s perfect. The ambiance and the staff are guaranteed to help you relax and de stress. I could stay there all afternoon.

The resort accommodations are lovely! We reserved a deluxe room; from the outside and in talking with others, deluxe bungalows are larger, with an outdoor rain shower, big deck with loungers, and more windows. We lucked into room 110, at the end of the resort, with unobstructed views of the ocean/island to our west. Hot water was adequate for short showers. Our room was spotless. Yes it’s hot, but with a ceiling fan and ocean breezes, totally comfortable. A baby shark swam circles around the bungalow, and twice we saw dugongs poking out of the water.

The comfy lounge has a full bar including easy drinking Balinese wines for about 35 USD/bottle. Meals are buffet. I found tasty and varied vegetarian options daily.

The rest of the island is primal jungle, with extraordinary trees, vines, bamboo thickets, and a trail for exploring.

Main attraction is diving. We found Ben, the French dive lead, to be charming and accommodating. They put 40 divers in the water every morning, coordinate multiple boats, > dozen guides. Sites are super fishy, with lush healthy corals, many new fish/creatures, and it’s Manta season! The day trips to Mansuar, Kri, and Fam Islands are “must-dos;” our request to return a second day to Kri was fulfilled without question.

As Ben said, the staff are working from the heart. Mila and Rio, (restaurant), and bartender Axel knew our names in a day. Dive guides were so helpful-our guide, Robby, was a master at pointing out the miniature and the gigantic-thank you!

A truly definition of a paradise ❤️
We went to Raja Ampat on June, which is low season they said, the guests were not that crowded, and so nice.

I love the service, as we came at the first time all of the staff were dancing and singing! Such a cute experience.
We felt welcomed.

The room was really nice, we could watch sunset and we truly had that such tranquil feeling in this resort. Amazed with every little thing in the resort.

I also love the food they served differently each day, the staff were also very nice.

For the diving experience, no doubt....wonderful!! Raja Ampat is so beautiful. Breathtaking views under there with great visibility.
The dive instructor (Pak Donal) is also very well experienced and patient, he made sure that all of us were okay and showed me beautiful creatures.

Papua Paradise is such an amazing eco resort. We had lovely and wonderful memories here. ☺️🥰

My husband & I just spent 8 days at Papau Paradise and it was pure bliss. My heart is so full, I already miss everyone so much and am dreaming of a return trip! I was a little apprehensive about going to a dive resort after 2 years of the pandemic but everything exceeded expectations and was incredible. I have so much to say but these are the highlights:

Access to the iconic Raja Ampat dive sites (Fam Islands eg. Melissa’s garden and Kri eg. Blue Magic, Mike’s Point)

Overall, the service was AMAZING. Everyone is so kind and welcoming

Dive crew: We had our own personal dive guide, Pater, who had an eagle eye for spotting sea life and helped us gain more confidence in our diving. Our dive time started at 32 min and by our last dive, we were at 60 min! Also, the captains were experts at safely navigating through all weather conditions and the deck hand helped us suit up for all 18 dives - setting up our bcd, air and putting on our fins for us!

Food: Delicious fresh food, we enjoyed every meal, especially the soups and fresh fruit juices! We celebrated my husband’s birthday while we were there and the staff made him a birthday cake with our favorite cake flavor and sang/played the birthday song for him!

Spa: The spa is closed for renovations but they offer in room massages, which I highly recommend. We got 4 while we were there. Sri is such a good masseuse and one of the kindest people I have met

Accommodations: Nice villa with ocean views. At night, they do turndown service, light mosquito coils and pull the mosquito nets down. We were surprised with how little mosquitos were at the resort

If you’re looking for a sign to book your trip at Papau Paradise, here it is. Book your trip, you won’t regret it!!

Thank you for making our trip so wonderful & unforgettable, Papau Paradise!

We fell in love with the paradise resort right from the staff greeting at arrival and all the way to the day we have to leave. Every person we met was nice, accomidating and knowledgable about the location, food and dives. We did about 20 dives in the short week and I could not get enough. We will come back for sure!

I have never been more sad to leave somewhere in 30 years of travelling. This place is just wonderful. The rooms are huge and comfortable and each has its own verandah from which to watch the sunset and spot fish. You cant swim from there but it's not far to the jetty to jump in. The rooms have all facilities you need and are kept clean. Amazing towel art every day too!

The diving operations are the most professional of anywhere I've been. They take any kit you have brought and look after it, with any you hire in the dive center. Everything is put on the boats before you set off to dive so all you have to do is check. All hire kit is in great condition. Boat and dive crew are second to none but have to give massive shout out to Donal who was just legendary in everyway but particularly in helping us when currents were a bit stronger than we are used too. Such a great diver and spotter.
Hugo and Nish in dive center were so professional. Cocktails and the bar area are great and the food was briliant every night. Always plenty we liked and delicious. Nice snorkelling on house reefs too. Of course the diving was out of this world. Loved the 3 dive trips to Kri and Mansuar and lunch/ breaks deserted islands!
The spa had recently reopened when we stayed and two wonderful massages in the most beautful setting over the sea watching the sunsets with swallows darting around. (The bird song on the island is nuts btw). Most of all we will miss the staff who clearly enjoy their place of work and can be heard singing and playing music every evening. A fellow guest managed to coax them out to the bar to play one evening which was the most special evening. Had proper tear in my eye when i left. Highly recommended.

Papua Paradise was a unique and exciting experience, jungle meets the sea. The bungalows over the water were something I’ve always wanted to experience. The bed was very comfortable and mosquito nets were put up every morning and put down again at night. Every night, the frogs would sing loudly and the birds would wake you in the morning. Excellent timing since there was so much great snorkeling to experience. I especially liked all the hooks in the room for hanging clothing, etc, as well as the drying rack on the porch.
The food was plentiful and delicious. There were many choices at each meal, Indonesian and western. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The snorkeling in Raja Ampat and the Fam Islands was incredible! Snorkeling the house reefs was in itself a great experience. The house has a front reef, to the left and to the right of the pier as well as a back reef, a short walk to the other side of the resort. We especially enjoyed the front reef to the left facing the island at the end near the last of the bungalows. The dive team were all helpful and knowledgeable.
Papua Paradise is rustic but well set up. If you’re out to dive or snorkel, I think you’ll enjoy the resort.

All rooms are over the water. We had a superior room and only issue, was bathroom was very dark and somewhat small. Room itself was very large with a gorgeous view. We are old divers, who only snorkel now, and this was some of the best we have ever seen. Just walking on decks, we saw octopus, sharks and cuttlefish. Every snorkel was amazing, lush fish & reefs. Saw mantas, crocodile fish, epaulet shark, sea kraits, turtles and just HUGE schools of fish. Recommend trip to Mansuar & Fam Islands. We did the tour to see the Bird of Paradise and the Hornbill Sunset Cruise. Both times we were the only passengers. The Bird of Paradise trip was incredible. All the staff know your name from the first day and go out of the way to be helpful. Theyeven planned a birthday cake surprise for my husband. The spa is beautiful and I had a very good massage. The house reefs are very good for snorkeling and sunsets are beautiful. We really wanted to see the dugong. We kept missing it by 10 or 20 minutes and by the end of the second week, figured it just wasn't going to happen. On our last night, we walked back to our room before dinner and the dugong was right in front of our room, munching away. It stayed there until it got too dark to see it anymore, about 30 minutes. Great way to end our visit! Would definately go back. We did meet several people who had stayed here more than one time. It is remote, the WIiFi is spotty, but food is good & plentiful.

We were the first couple to visit & stay at Papua Paradise on the first day they opened up after the lockdown. We cannot stop raving about the resort from the friendly staff, the beautiful scenic location & the gorgeous room which we were upgraded to for free😊 the food was more than we expected; lunch & dinner were three course meals and we couldn't wait for time to eat lol. The manager Matteo was amazingly helpful with all our needs from quick response & communications in trying to arrange our transport & payment details. The dive instructor Anne is super friendly & helpful. Our snorkelling guide Ruben was friendly & helpful as well. We highly recommend this place to our friends and to anyone looking to relax, cut off from the busy modern world & just enjoy the quiet beauty of this place. The entire time we were there, everyone wore masks & took the Corona virus seriously.

We stayed at Papua Paradise in Nov 19. It is not easy to reach it from Europe but paradise has its price! Once arrived you are rewarded, the place is really nice, each bungalow very comfortable with a great view on the sunset. The house reef offers a nice snorkeling and diving in Raja Ampat is just great: so much life under the water! And colors! Do a day trip to Fam, it is the perfect postcard view.
All the staff and the manager were very kind, we definitely recommend the resort!

Yes the room rate includes breakfast lunch and dinner but not transfers to Birdie Island and diving and snorkelling excursions are extra. There are two house reefs you can snorkel for free. You can rent equipment from the dive centre.

Does your resort offer private snorkeling excursions?
Answer from Lotus Hotels
Bali, Indonesia
Dear Doug, Warmest greeting from Papua Paradise Eco Resort and thank you for your question. Even though we do our utmost to accommodate your request we can't confirm or guarantee the possibility for having private trips and private guide prior to your arrival due to limited snorkel guides and boats. No doubt you have any further questions which we're more than happy to answer. We hope to meet you in Papua Paradise Eco Resort

Can't really help you on this one but as no answers so far thought I'd mention it. The bird life around the resort is pretty good although foliage is very thick and jungly. There is a bird hide. Black crested Cockatoo seen while walking to the back of the island, Hornbills in the trees on the hill top. Often these excursions are a little overpriced. I'd expect the waterfall is better in the wet season. Snorkelling is good here!
