May long weekend in Riga and the entire city seemed to be "full." When I got to my original hotel, "Hotel Hanza" which i had booked based on the great reviews on this stie, they told me there was some technical problem with my room, and they would be sending me to a "better hotel" and I would get free...

Hotel is newly refurbished. Spacious. Two elevators. Bowling. Two restaurants. The one on the first floor serves mega size portions. TV has at least 1 German and not less than 5 English channels. Internet available (cable) in the room for 4 pounds (8 dollars) a day. Wireless on the first and ninth floors. Helpfull staff. Breakfast selection - dissappointing ;)...

This hotel represents great value if you are on a budget but prefer comfortable accomodation. The hotel has been recently refurbished and everything was spotlessly clean. The rooms are large and spacious with all mod cons. The breakfast was above average and plentiful with the bonus of being served to 11.00am if you happen to have had a late night....

Stayed in the Islande Hotel, last weekend. (arrival 6th Departure 8th of July 2007) The hotel is clean and the rooms are a good size. I contacted the hotel directly whom I also booked a transfer from the airport (cost 5lats approx £5) The hotel is 15minutes from the airport. The only issues that I would say my friends had...

We stayed at Islande Hotel in Riga, Latvia for 2 nights during Midsummer. The hotel itself was ok, nice Scandinavian style decor and clean, but there were some minor problems with service level. For example, all rooms should be non-smoking (smoking is widely prohibited in Latvia), but we had an ashtray located in the room and room stank of cigarettes....

Hotel is in pretty good condition as it's new. Lobby and restaurants look very nice. Some pros and cons: +location could be closer to old town but 15 mins walk is tolerable though via an ugly bridge with heavy traffic. Recommended is to use busses which operate right next to hotel and only costs 0,3 LVL. Shopping centre with supermarket...

My mate and I stayed here for a long weekend and the hotel did it's job. From the city it's about a 10-15 min walk across the Daugava to the old town. You can also get a taxi, which will cost from either 2 to 5 Lats. We didn't get any breakfast from the hotel as we were always arriving...

Whenever you go somewhere like Latvia, choosing the right hotel is total guess work, but on this occasion I struck lucky. Although a 15 minute walk from Old Riga, don't be put off choosing this hotel as it is 1st class. Only finished in March 2006 it's new enough to feel brand new, but old enough to have ironed out...

First, I have to say we got a great rate for this hotel, only 75 E for two adults and two children (under 5) including breakfast. But: when we checked in, we got a room facing a horrible ghetto apartment building and mammoth shopping center. We asked before going upstairs if we had a nice view, and were dismissed with...

Good Hotel with helpful staff. Newly furbished rooms with Ikea-like furniture. Being new some of the fitments were adjusting to use .... for example it won't be long before the shower bar falls from the wall and there wasn't a shower curtain so water sprayed on to the floor making it slippery. The breakfast was a bit chaotic as the...
