I spent 3 nights here and am at a loss as to why this hotel has a 4 star rating. The hotel description is that it has been recently renovated?? and is in a 19th century mansion. I love old historic houses but this place needs bulldozing. My room was large with a high ceiling but the carpet was worn,... More

Very nice hotel just next to a park. It's a short walk to the main train station, where the bus to/from the airport stops. It's also only a short walk to the old town. The building itself is historic and beautiful and we liked the story behind it. Our room was huge. The bed was okay, but the single beds... More

We had 8 nights in Latvia capital which is a long time for a city break, but we had family research to do so we had plenty of things to occupy our time. We were there during the mid summer festival too, so bonus. We chose the Europa because of its closeness to the center and keen price. Bit of... More

Across the street from the hotel is a beautiful park with children's area and several cafes. This is a historic property, as the mansion was formerly by the former press queen, Emilja Benjamin. No expense was spared in decorating the house with stained glass and an exquisite Murano chandelier, which can be seen in the breakfast rooms. During the time... More

The rooms are a little tired but are nevertheless clean and comfortable.Breakfast is very European, hams, cheeses, salads etc. but there are many options and if you cannot find something to suit then you must be very fussy! The ceiling in the dining room is spectacular -very art nouveau.Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall very good.

The Europa Royale Riga should be one of the great hotels. It is one of the city's treasured Arte Nouveau mansions, once the home of a newspaper baron taken away by the Gestapo in the first weeks of Nazi occupation. It became a club for Latvian Communist intellectuals, then after the restoration of Democracy was converted to a hotel. The... More

We stayed here for one night for our honeymoon as my friend and best man Maximillion Cooper was in town to organise next year's Gumball 3000 rally which is starting in Riga in July 2017. I was overwhelmed by the splendour of the room which was like something from a 1930's Poirot film. Fabulous green pastel panels and classical furniture... More

The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I loved the breakfast and the room was very nice and indeed royal. However, I barely got some sleep. The hotel is old. Thus, there is a poor isolation of sound. You can hear the upstairs neighbours and cars outside very well. However, the worst was the... More

This is a beautifully reappointed historical building. We could do nothing but open-mouthed gaping at how beautiful this place is. The hotel staff were really on the ball, and the front desk staff helped us rent a car during one of their busiest holiday seasons! (Jani Day) No matter how fabulous the rooms are, you do need to be aware... More
