On the right side of basic/budget. Certainly without pretention or any frills at all and as such is basic. But basic here means simple, clean with good housekeeping and satisfying food. First impressions were a lttle discouraging but I was comfortable and the hotel provides well within its apparent market target.
My stay here would be best described as awful - the staff have no no idea what customer service means, the food is terrible, the beds are uncomfortable - I could go on but what is the point? I will give credit for nice bathrooms but that is it! What the stay worse was that there a group of young school kids on a football trip - who were unsupervised by either the coach or the hotel staff - the hotel staff were asked repeatedly to 'do something' they simply ignored the requests by yourself or other guests. I think you get the idea of what I am saying.
In one word terrible, staff rude, waited ages for stroganoff in restaurant, one chef to cook for 12 persons, we cook for two times the amount of people. Refused to take a twenty euro note, because of a slight rip in it. It was because the receptionist was cashing up, before hand over. I work in the customer service industry, and I know how to treat your customers. A in-depth course for staff, over a year might serve the hotel well. Would highly recommend people to avoid this hotel at all costs. It started off well when we arrived, but by God it went downhill fast. Our Daughter was in Hospital here in Riga, that is why we are here. I cannot wait to leave this place fast.
I frequent this hotel and have stayed on a few occasions, it is a very popular budget option and is run pretty well with friendly staff and professional level for a budget establishment, you always know what to expect, it is not the most centrally located but with good transport links to Riga centre, airport and even out of town directions. The rooms themselves are quite decent, breakfast is satisfactory but one huge and i mean HUGE problem is almost non existant Sound proofing and added to this squeaky and thumping floors, i mean this building is relatively new or newly renovated (id assume in the last 10 years or so) how in the hell there is no sound proofing you can hear absolutly every noise from the corridors, and the adjacent rooms. If they get a grip on this issue , this hotel will be a total gem, as its already very popular in the area and i like it alot. Hope they can manage to sort this out somehow, i would thinks its good business sense, Thanks!…
We stayed here as part of groupon deal yes it was cheap we had no idea where we were going but the best hotel really is not the best. Rude night staff although bar and days staff very nice. We reported on the Saturday after arriving Friday night and finding out Saturday am shower was broken told sorry but maintenance not in till Monday ( When we left) we expected budget for what we paid but seriously nasty lovely city do not stay here !
