Detailed Reviews
I stayed for 2 nights with a friend of mine in a twin room with shared bathroom in the last floor. The room is very basic with no cupboard or enough wall hangers. The beds were clean and comfy. The bathroom has washing machine but you have to pay to use it. Towels are for rent at the reception. Reception is not available in the property most of the time. The owner was responsive to our communication on whatsapp and let us check out late. We have encountered some weird guests in other floors making some noise, mostly single men, but we sorted out this issue with them. Overall, the hostel is very basic and prices are very cheap that may attract weird people. So I only recommend this place if you are a group of 2 people or more staying together.

Stayed here for one night as I was leaving early in the morning to travel to the airport. Room and bathroom very clean.
Man on reception so helpful and kind.ordered a taxi for the early hours and ensured I got it safely as I was travelling alone.

Red Nose Hostel seems like a hidden hostel jewel as not many locals knew about it. The booking process was easy and the location is excellent. Really easy to locate and walking distance from all points of interest around Old Town. There is no elevator so you have to climb the stairs. Take that into consideration if you have lots of luggage. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Great night sleep. I recommend!

I stayed at the hostel for 2 nights. Despite the excellent position in the city center, I found that the bathrooms were not clean enough. However I do recommend it for a short stay! The stuff was very nice :)

We (2 girls) booked a 4 bed dorm for the long weekend. We had a nap and were woken up by a weird old man who turned out to be sharing our room. He kept staring at us and made us feel uncomfortable so we asked the staff to move us. They moved us into a 12 bed dorm without providing a discount (despite admitting the man had been there since September and had upset other guests). That night, at 4am a fight broke out and nobody stopped it. My bed was also broken.
The second day the shower was ice cold and we cane back from a day out to find a drunk old man had moved in. He fell over the table in the room, peed all over the bathroom and was being very inappropriate towards us. He was drinking whisky from a paper bag and being very rude. We asked to be moved but there were no other beds so we had to change hotels as we didn't feel safe sleeping next to him. He was also a regular for the hostel whom had caused problems before. Further to this, the other old man kept walking into our dorm and staring at us. Very odd. We weren't offered a full refund and the staff had no power to make a decision.
There isn't a communal area either. We stay in hostels regularly and it's put me off!

We usually book hotels/hostel in advance, but this time we came to Riga without any any idea where to stay. We walked in red nose hostel and all the double bed privet rooms where taken and against our normal "policy" we decided to stay in 10 bed dorm, because it was empty and the owner of the hostel was so nice person. She noticed from my lady friend passport that she is having a birthday in our arrival day. When we arrived later to our dorm from city touring there was waiting nice birthday present in my ladys bed. I think that tells something about hostels spirit. We stayed in red nose 3 nights and it felt really cozy and peacefully hostel. Staff and owner where really nice/helpful and the location is perfect. Rooms, kitchen and showers where all really clean.

My first time to Riga and we group booking this hostels for about 20 people. The room and insulation's perfect and the toilet's very clean. Staffs are very helpful and friendly in telling us on how to get around Riga. Will definitely be back to stay in Red Nose Hostel! I did review on my blog as well http://hcvv.blogspot.com

I’m here now and i regret that i booked two nights in this place. Very strange guests! I saw only strange men on kitchen doing a lot of mess. Besides, they don’t respect silent law late at night: long showers, wash machine and things like this just next to my door. The woman at reception at night doesn’t have the better face to deal with this. You have to pay for a towel and kitchen has only a microwave. If the atmosphere is nice i can overcome small things but I haven’t liked the energy of this place.

The location of the hostel is great, within walking distance of the bus station, as well as the major attractions. It is situated in a small street, so was expecting it to be quiet, but sleep was disrupted every night by some drunkards or singers-wannabes passing by the street.
The dorm room I was staying in was comfortable, just that it felt a little squeezed. Wi-fi n toilet worked well. There is also a small kitchenette, as well as free coffee and tea.
Overall, I will not mind staying here again.

I stayed for one night here from 19 until 20 April 2015. They have complete and quite brand new kitchen set. Tea is for free. Wifi also quite fast. The shower and toilet also clean. The location also in the middle of the old town of Riga thus it is very comfort to start to explore the old town. The price is very affordable.
