I stayed several times in Riga, and this was the worst experience (and I didn't stayed earlier in Kempinski :)). The hotel is in good location in the very Old Town, and that's it. They boast about 4 stars, but they really worth two (ok, three). This hotel really needs some renovation and improvementand not in design but in elementary things, especially in the heating and other facilities. The first room they gave me was pretty cold, with not working heating in the bathroom and loud ventilation, which is impossible to turn off (it is in all the hotel, but in other rooms it is not so loud). When I asked for another room, they offered me 6th floor in the attic with complicated low ceiling/roof and cold as well. After all I stayed in the first floor (thanks to receptionist, they found it!), room a bit more spacious, because all the rooms are very small with tiny shower cabin. It was room with a view to garbage containers, but that was really best choice from free apartments, and one can not look through the window, better to take a stroll in Riga. The price is really ok, but the conditions require to be more attentive to the guests. But the breakfast was really good, and that is another good side.

Fairly decent hotel, breakfast isnt the best if you enjoy a decent fry in the mornings forget it. Latvians are not tge friendliest people, not like Irish people so quite different to get used to. I really enjoyed my stay and Riga and this hotel, the city has si much to offer and lots of history, great architecture and culture. The only thing that let the place down is the unfriendly manner of the latvian people. Kare Ireland

Me and my wife had prebooked a double room with a/c and minibar at this hotel and had also mentioned that we are senior citizens and I am a physically handicapped person. But they didn't consider this and gave a room in 5th floor without a/c. They made us pay the full amount for our stay as we booked earlier before checkin itself. When we entered the room we found out the ac was not working and the mini bar was not there, then we complained and requested for change of room but they said there was no room available and they kept a pedestal fan for 2 days, as we were tired and elderly with a physically handicapped person we had to compromise for that day. Second day also they dint bother to change our room.as we had made the payment in advance we dint have any other option. During our check out we mentioned about their poor service and requested to do some compensation but they dint bother. We think they took advantage of our situation and really felt so insulted.

Hotel is a little run down. Decent location but it's not on a nice block. If you stay one or two blocks to the north, you're in a great spot. This block feels neglected. Still, a short walk from most sites of interest. Close to the bus and train stations.

Tired and shabby Hotel which has seen better days. Visited with a group as part of a regional tour with Exodus. Rooms are cramped and grimy. Carpet was well worn and felt dirty. Bed ok but pillows were lumps of foam! Smallest shower I have ever seen. I’m slim but could not bend down in it! Breakfast extremely poor with no fresh fruit or basics like yogurt. This hotel just churns a steady stream of tourists who probably wouldn’t rebook. Good location close to the river and old down.

Steps, steps and more steps! Not a friendly place for those with mobility problems. The rooms range form large comfortable and dark to tiny cramped and dark. All available space has been utilized, there is an extension that is acceptable but still only accessible via steps. Some rooms are located on the fire escape stairs (Numbers ending in '16') they are outside the fire safety zone and were once cleaners store rooms. The hotel has lifts but there are still steps to negotiate. Breakfast was good in the below ground dining room and the location was also good

We needed accommodation for one night, close enough to bus station and this hotel looked nice. We arrived from airport by buss No 22, bus stop is not too far from hotel. Building looks ugly from outside, but nice and cozy inside. There was everything in room what you need for 1 night: comfortable double bed, large flat TV, water kettle with coffee and minibar. Our room had very small window. We missed more hangers, there was only 2 pieces. Unfortunately floor heating was not in order in bathroom. Breakfast was like in typical 3* hotel, but this hotel has 4*.

Terrible base and music noise from hotel restaurant which they rent to outside parties. Nothing mentioned upon booking about such noise possibility. I would not have booked such, being lousy sleeper and on holiday. We were not the only only ones suffering the issue. People at reception same time with same problems (even with children along). Have been in this hotel before but will NOT come again!!
