Really great prices. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Location is near the river and for me a bit too far from the city center. It was about 40-45 minutes by foot. All in all it is a good place where to stay.

Advertised as a budget hotel and it's exactly that. It's basic but clean and well presented. Rooms were quite small but for a city break with 2 nights stay here, it as ideal for what we needed. It's set back from the city but the tram stops right outside the hotel with a 10 minute journey into the centre (I would recommend using the tram at least at night) The corridors were also clean and modern, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. If you need more than one pillow ash as soon as you get there, the guy at reception struggled to find us extra pillows, but that was my only gripe. There also a small convenience store over the road for snacks and water etc. It was nice and quiet at night but I appreciate we didn't go peak season. Breakfast was basis but perfectly adequate, a selection of cereals, toast, ham, cheese, scrambled egg, baked beans and sausages, tea, coffee and fruit juices.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. In our experience, the price is excellent for a capital city. Yes, some of the local area looks jaded but was perfectly safe, and if you download the taxi app as recommended by reception, you can get around the city ‘cheap as chips’ , in fact cheaper than public transport and never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. We bought breakfast each day from the hotel and all the offerings were fresh and topped up regularly and the place was clean, good value for money. The rooms are basic and clean and warm. Only minor downside is the walls seem thin as per previous reviews, but you can’t control what neighbours you get. The two guys we encountered in reception were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Would not hesitate to come back

Stayed at Dodo Hotel as part of a package purchased for Riga Christmas Markets (which also do not exist but that’s not the hotels fault). On arrival all seemed okay - but the rooms. Just terrible. Basic, bland, dirty, mouldy, smelly. Bedding was clean which is a bonus but that’s it. One member of our party moved into 5 different rooms before settling on one that was the “least terrible”. On our first night one of our rooms had a alarm which kept going off on the door - stating the door was open - the door wasn’t open. I went to discuss with reception and the night warden was truly horrendous and he came into my room, shut himself in and made me feel extremely vulnerable as he was shouting at me in my face. Not ideal. We had 3 rooms booked and only used 2 because of the condition of the rooms and they offered us basic breakfast as an apology. Not good enough. Riga was amazing but there’s not a chance in hell I’ll be returning to Hotel Dodo and I suggest you do the same until they up their game a bit. Basic is fine, dirty is not.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel itself is clean & fresh but basic. The reception staff are present but not pleasant. The MAJOR issue is that the bedroom walls are paper thin. I managed to sleep on our first night but the second & third were complete write offs. One of the bedrooms next door had their TV on all night which could be clearly heard through the walls. On the third and final night the bedroom on the other side (behind the headboard) had a couple snoring. Even when they weren’t snoring you could hear them breathing. Was really looking forward to a mini break and exploring Riga but this was completely ruined after having zero sleep for 48 hours.
