A 'basic hotel', clean, modern: Scandinavian/Baltic feel
I would return to this hotel. It is marginally cheaper than the Latgola hotel in Daugavpils, a good value hotel. It is quite new and everything in the room is clean and fresh (July '11). The furniture and decoration is basic but perfectly adequate, same in the bathroom which has a good shower. The bed in the single room is wide and very comfortable with very good quality bed linen. (Good job - after all, that's the most important thing in a hotel!) Pleasant dining room/bar with (rather limited) breakfast buffet. Some issues (not major, don't let them put you off!): White thin curtains do not block out the light during the Northern European light summer nights. Very thin doors to the corridor outside: Unfortunately you hear people outside coming and going. The door is so basic that I think it might be a temporary arrangement - perhaps the hotel plans to upgrade shortly. No air conditioning unit (only a problem in the very height of the summer), no fridge (common in ex-USSR countries), or minibar. There are quite a few dogs around in the gardens at the back side, they are barking from time to time - can be irritating in the evening with the window open. The staff is mainly Russian-Latvian bilingual speakers, but you can manage fine in basic English with most staff members. I found them helpful and nice. Before anyone complains about the standard of English, bear in mind that the staff already is fully bilingual with two other languages. How many languages do you speak? I admit that I stayed in this hotel because the Latgola was full (football game in town) but I would not hesitate to stay again and I recommend it to those on a budget, or as an alternative to the Latgola.

A clean and comfortable nights stay
We had planned to arrive in Daugavpils earlier than we did, and had not booked anywhere in advance. They were doing major roadworks in the city and after much driving around we were directed to Hotel Dinaburg in the petrol station nearby. In Latvian from our phrasebook we asked the lady at reception if she had a room for the night and she replied to us in English that yes she did, but there was a wedding that evening so it would be noisy. We were just so relieved to have found a hotel we checked in anyway! It had a car park which was great for us (travellling by motorbike), and the room was large and clean, and as others have said it was very basic but everything we needed for a night. The shower was hot and the breakfast was good and neither of us had any complaints for our stay here. It is not a luxury hotel but it does not have a luxury pricetag - I would be happy to stay here again and would recommend it to others too.

    Good hotel
Stayed during the city holidays. Hotel is clean, room was very big ( got the last available, family room). In reality it was room with 2 separate big rooms. Staff is nice and polite. Due to holidays it was full - felt that hotel was not really prepared for that - in the breakfast it took time while tables got cleaned and food added, just because only one girl was working. Otherwise breakfast was OK, standard choice. Free parking. Hotel little bit far from center, 20-30 minutes walk (with a child).

Cozy and clean 1990-ies style (deplorable sound isolation - one can hear person coughing in the room next door). Reception staff - perfect and friendly. Breakfast - disaster with bad instant coffee and lower than average meals.

Check in was swift and there was a car park to the rear which was handy. There did seem to be on street unrestricted parking out side the hotel. Family size meant we had the business suite. One double and one double sofa bed with 2 bedrooms. Large bathroom with a Jacuzzi but the head of the shower built into the bath so you could not stand there and have a normal shower. There is a pool at the hotel but outside a 2 hour window....which coincides with breakfast time there is a charge of 15 euro per person per hour! Needless to say it was cheaper to go to a local swimming pool in the area. The pool area was not that inviting anyway and not sign posted.....when we went to look we ended up in the laundry room. Breakfast was ok but be early as there was hardly anything left at 08.30 on a week day morning. Staff were pleasant enough and I had to laugh at the form we had to sign because we were 'Aliens' something lost in google translation I think. I think the hotel in the centre of town would be a better option but overall the area is rather uninspiring and expensive for the area and country it is located.

Quite good hotel for the price, but need cosmetic renovation. Our room was a little bit smoky.. (but the staff was pleasant and sprayed it with fragrance). The business lunch were average (the soup was tasty, the main dish so so), but it cost just 3,50 Eur :) Very good avocado salads. The breakfast was quite good. Some staff is very nice and polite and some of them "weren't happy" to see us. I visited it the second time just because it is next to the stadium, but i will think if i change it next year...

Price was good, rooms not fresh!!! Spa chocolate massage was quite good but instead of 90 minute procedure I got 60 minutes! We enjoyed the parking! It was convenient to park in the territory and not think about parking!

Its about 1 or 1,5km from city center. You can choose rooms for smoking and no smoking people. We choose for smoking so we could smoke in the room, no balcony or smth. Room im simple, but if you going to see city its good, if you planning stay in the room all the time - nothing special. Food nothing special (breakfast) At the spa zone we was just with husband so was good. But if there would be more people it would be not enough space. Water in jaccuzi little bit too cold.

We had reserved a standard room for two people containing a "double bed" but instead it was more like "one and a half", the worst thing was that the same applied to the single blanket which was also very thin and it turned out to be quite a cold night. Another thing is that the walls are extremely thin and we could hear every time our neigbours used water.

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel is not very ‘fresh’, the rooms are very small. The staff is very nice. We couldn’t get lunch or dinner at the restaurant as it was reserved for the groups (other restaurants and cafes were abou 2 km from the hotel).

Where to start. This Hotel is definitely NOT 3 star. Our room whilst large and clean but had outdated furniture. One headboard broken and squeaked all night. No facilities to make tea and coffee. Bathroom small outdated only small soap bottle available by hand basin. Shower had just a plastic curtain for privacy. Wellness centre looks good in the photos in reality needs some TLC. If you wish to use the facility aftet 11.30 you need to book and costs 15 euro per person. Beware that anti slip mats are few and far between therefore floor around pool, hot tub and saunas very slippy. Also, beware in the sauna if you have children there is no protection to the heating unit which is situated by the door. We booked a 2 night stay. First night we ate in the hotel. Food reasonably priced but average quality. Waitress friendly and helpful even though she was alone. We were informed that on our second night there may be some noise due to a celebration, ok we were informed while en-route however, on the Saturday evening we were informed by reception that the bar restaurant was not available to hotel guests due to there being 2 parties. Maybe the unfriendly unhelpful receptionist told us that we could get a meal to take to our room after 8pm but maybe not!!!!!!! Is this the way to treat hotel guests? Breakfast very basic but even with the limited choice it is possible not to go hungry. We will never stay at this hotel again and an not able to recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
