Detailed Reviews
We were visiting Hotel Lydia on the New Year's Eve with my niece. Rektor Suite on the 5th floor was our choice for that special night and it was totally worth it! The view was exactly to the Town Hall Square, where all the festivity was taking place. It got even better when outside got darker and all the christmas lights lit up the whole square. It was magical!
We were staying in and enjoying sushi and some other snacks in the suite, but there was also possibility to join restaurant Hõlm New Year's Eve exclusive dinner, that seemed very nice. We especially were thankful for the staff of Hotel Lydia, because we were in the need of some cutlery (plates, knives etc) and ice for the drinks and they were so kind and brought all of it to our room without hesitation.
Our morning started with excellent breakfast. I especially enjoyed omelette and fine range of vegetables, but home-made cakes with curd and berries were my absolute favourite.
Definitely will come back to the best hotel in Estonia!

Stayed at Lydia in 2017 first time and then it was an amazing experience. Now the design and rooms are starting to feel a bit “tired” and if we paid for 2 night I would expect at least 2 new bottles of water and sweet treats, not just for the 1st night. Same towels and sheets are fine but at least top up on water for 260€ :)

Had a one-night stay at the start of February 2020. Everything was awesome. We especially enjoyed the spa-lounge area during quiet hours. The hotel's location is perfect - just behind the town hall and everything you need to see in Tartu is pretty much within the walking distance. Such a quiet and peaceful visit. Thank you :)

Hotel staff are unqualified and rude in managing the mess they create. We arrived on time for our room and were told that “hotel is fully booked”, “it is a week of autumn vacations” and “your room is not ready; we do not know when it will be ready”, “wait in the lobby” - a lobby that was already full of waiting clients. When asked if there was any compensation or at least late check out we got a “later check in does not mean later check out”. Really, hotel business is a hospitality business and you had 0 hospitality. Why the hell do you ask for client’s mail addresses and phone numbers if you do not even care to call them up and warn about room not being ready?
Also, do not expect to get a table or even a chair if you want to eat your breakfast in the common dining area. Yes, you quessed, “hotel is fully booked” and they do not care whether there is room for everyone, or at all, even if you wait for 15 minutes, still no room. And they do no provide room service for breakfast.
This hotel offers a truly distorted understand of capitalism - a booked hotel is all they care about, even in they are unable to provide minimum polite service as well as breakfast to their customers.

Hello! First we want to thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it a lot and it is important to us to offer better service. We are very sorry for the inconvenience we caused to you. It is true that on that certain day there was waiting time approx. 15-20 min. for some rooms and we apologize for it. Unfortunately late check out on this days mean even more waiting time for the quest next day and it´s possible subject to availability. Hopefully you give us opportunity to offer you better accommodation experience. Best wishes, Hotel Lydia team

We have stayed in Lydia multiple times. I love the spacious and elegant rooms (would definitely recommend Rektor suite). The restaurant is romantic and the food is excellent. The breakfast has huge selection and has sophisticated tastes. If you want to relax you can go downstairs into the dimly lit pool and sauna area that is open early & late. The location of the hotel is the best in town - just behind the town hall square; surrounded by lovely architecture and just 1 min walk from Tartu University (founded 1932)

Stayed at Lydia with my wife during the period of restrictions. The staff went far and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
We had a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us on ice on arrival (we mentioned my wife having a birthday when booking). The breakfast was delivered to the room in the morning as the restaurant was closed because of restrictions. We also ordered dinner to the room, it arrived at the exact time we asked for it. The meal was delicious! A bit cold by the time we got to the main course, but considering circumstances it was as close to perfect as it could be. Cherry on top was a call from the reception after we left. Turns out we left some clothes in the room. The things were mailed and delivered to a convenient location 3 days later. No charge, no questions, no problems!
Great experience, I’d recommend the place without a doubt.
Keep up the good work!
P.S The bathroom in the executive room was probably the best I’ve ever seen (in a “non suite” room).

Delightful hotel with an earthly feel located in the heart of Tartu, only a short walk to other sights and shops. Stayed for a romantic staycation and the room was cosy, clean, great for the two of us to get away from it yet quiet for being located in the city. The spa area was also a mobile free zone and with lower level lighting giving a nice ambience. Would highly recommend and definitely coming back!

My wife and I stayed here on a recent trip around Estonia. The hotel is located in the heart of Tartu and is convenient to most bars and restaurants.
Our Executive double room was large and very nice. The bathroom had two sinks and was also very large. One big bonus for us - the shower had a full-sized door so we didn’t have to worry about getting water on the floor.
An outstanding breakfast was included in our room rate. Lots of variety and everything was excellent.
If you’re driving to the hotel be sure to request a parking space for €20.
Highly recommended.

The room has an odd layout so be aware when booking, I lot of insignificant space that makes little sense.
The decor is modern but simple, no luxuries, the AC system clicked persistently all night as we only stayed one night there little to be done, the bathroom was very large with a heated floor, again we would lost as to why this was needed.
Beware additional costs. I booked a double room, I then registered my wife only to be charged €20, then I asked to use the parking, another €10, all this on top of a relative high room rate.
Finally ask for a room that is not road facing, the receptionist does not tell you that your sleep will be broken by loud shouting or the traffic!
It’s a nice hotel nothing exceptional, but on balance you should be aware of all the above.
