The hotel is close to everything. 15 minutes from the airport. 5 minutes from the lux express coach station. 5 minutes from old town and close to a lot of malls and places to eat. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was good, we ate everyday. Eggs to order have to be paid separately. Otherwise there’s scrambled and boiled egg on the buffet. The room had all the amenities in the bathroom a coffee machine and iron and ironing board as well. The view is of the opposite mall and the road. Taxis are readily available outside the hotel. We enjoyed our stay here.

We paid for a deluxe double room in the Tallink City Hotel (4 Stars) in the location we had hand picked to celebrate a birthday. Over an hour after we started checking in we ended up in a room 1/2 of the size with two single beds in the Tallink Express Hotel (3 Stars) at the other end of the town. Not impressed.

The location is the hotel's best asset, and the conference facilities was also OK. I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The service at reception was rather slow, and it took some time check-in and to get to the room. The room was rather basic with a small bathroom (only with soap in dispensers), and not that clean either. There is no possibility to open a window to get some fresh air, but only aircondition. We had all our meals in the restaurant, and the breakfast was OK. But both the lunch- and dinnerbuffets were practically the same at all meals. There shouldn't be difficult to make some alterations during a week. But the location is perfect - close to the old town. So that is an asset!

We stayed in this hotel for one night in July. We arrived really late and faced a woman in the reception who clearly was as tired as we were since the service we got was not the best. We were asked to pay for our room again although we had done this at same time with our reservation. Obviously we didn't want to do that and as a result we got a rather rude answer from the receptionist who didn't even bother to tell us where the breakfast is located or what is the checkout time of the hotel. For some reason our breakfast reservation wasn't in the hotel's list but luckily this problem was solved rather quickly. Apart from the bad service experience we had a nice stay: the room was okay for the price level (80e) and the breakfast was also ok.

Upon checking in we found our room spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with adequate bathroom and comfortable beds. Closet space was sufficient for the needs of two people who had packed for a muliti-week vacation. An interesting facet of this hotel and one in Latvia was how the room lights are turned on. On the wall, just inside the door, there is a fixture for inserting your entry key card. Hold the card vertically and insert it down into the slot and leave it in the slot while you are in your room. This allows the lights and power fixtures to operate while the room is occupied. When you take the card to leave the room the lights go out. I take this as a energy-saving step for the hotel. Packing suggestion: in this hotel and others in Baltic countries there is no drain stopper in the bathroom sink drain. This means those of us who bring some laundry detergent fo rinsing our socks, t-shirts, undies, cannot fill the sink with soapy water for that purpose. Before you leave on your trip, go to the plumbing section of Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Lowe's and pick up a rubber drain stopper (size about 1 1/4 diameter), so you can plug the sink drain in your room. The breakfast buffet is more than ample. For coffee lovers the buffet offers two options; a regular, industrial size percolator pot which brewed, imho, very good coffee, and a automatic device which provides a variety of brews such as espresso and cappuccino. Simply put your cup on the grid under the nozzle and press your selection. Your cup should be ready in 30+ seconds. Buffet includes scrambled eggs, sliced ham, turkey and moose salami, fruits, potatoes, pastries, and wonderful breads. Be sure to to try the dark rye bread. Delicious. One packing suggestion: include some sealable sandwich bags. Make some sandwiches of bread, meat and cheese from the buffet and take them with you as you venture forth on your day's activities. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic district which is filled with historic buildings and churches, good restaurants and nice shops.
