I slept at Fat Margaret's twice, taking a ferry to Helsinki between my two stays. The hostel is located a short walk from the ferry port, a short walk from the train station (which has wonderful markets), and across the street from the entrance to Tallenn's classic Old Town. It's also just a hundred yards from a tram stop. I couldn't think of a better location. The building (dated back to 1912, I was told) is old style European stone and brick and feels like a millionaires mansion at a surprisingly budget price. There are numerous bathrooms and showers. There's a full size sauna and cooling pool open to all every morning from 9-11 am. The kitchen and dining space is modern and designed so several people can cook there at the same time. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Perfect location - a few minutes´walk from the Old Town, a tram stop a few metres away (combination of trams No. 4 and No. 2 will get you here from the airport). A short walk to the seafront.
The room was a bit cold and you could hear quite a lot of noise from the street. No wardrobe or chest of drawers, only a couple of hangers. But that is something you might expect.

I had an amazing experience at Fat Margarets Hostel in Tallinn, Estonia. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home. The central location, just across from the old town gate, couldn't have been more perfect for exploring the city's historic charm.
I opted for a private room, and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and cozy it was. The hostel's attention to detail truly made my stay enjoyable. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Tallinn, Fat Margarets Hostel is definitely the way to go!

Very good location, just 200m from Fat Margaret's Tower which signals the start of the Old Town, and a 10 minute walk from the Tallinn to Helsinki boat. I stayed in a private twin room, and although the room was plainly furnished and decorated, it was cosy and comfy. The ensuite was good, as was the WiFi throughout the premises. Downstairs there's a fabulous communal area with a clean, well equipped kitchen. Hot water and tea is free, as are tasty DIY waffles in the morning. There's also a free sauna in the basement that you can use in the morning. From the outside the place doesn't look up to much. But inside it is much better.

We had a room on the top (4th?) floor, so there was a bit of walking up the stairs to get there. But it was definitely worth the excercise; a tidy room with a bathroom, decent beds and a "studio" window. Location is, of course, next to perfect if you travel by ferry.
Since we didn´t need to use the public kitchen/living room/sauna, we can´t say too much about them, but it´s great they have them. And some of the other travelers seemed to enjoy themselves. A good ho(s)tel!

Such a great place for travellers. Some of the best and well equipped communal spaces I have come accross in all my travels. Spacious, clean and comfy rooms, polite and efficient staff, and a lovely atmosphere. This hostel is in a great location right on the edge of the old town and amazing value for money.

The staff are so friendly and the hostel is very clean no complains. The staff were so kind and even booked us a taxi to bus station when leaving. It was one of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Definitely safe for female solo travelers

Great location close to the train station and old town, but right at a busy road (so very noisy, even at night). Very nice kitchen and common room with free table tennis. Staff were very helpful but some guests were extremely loud at night, running around in the hallway. The bathroom was okay but not entirely clean (hair in the shower) and the shower didn't drain properly. Overall good value for money.

I had one friend here from Sweden and I recommended this place because it's with reasonable price, good location and close to the harbor. But finally, when I arrived there it was quite late and immediately came some guy from reception and said it's not allowed to have visitors after 23:00 which is like nonsense for me. so I said we just talk 30min and he said no it's not possible. Then we said okay we go out then and I was waiting behind my friend's door when he was changing the clothes and the same guy from reception came again that I have to wait in front of the reception so he can see. WHAT'S this? I don't know what kind of people come to this place but this was really embarrassing, people please make somehow better control if u want to control everything and don't make me feel embarrassed because I recommended this place, obviously last time.
The place is very old also, definitely need some renovation.

Therefore we do not accept guests other than the hostel customers in the house after 23.00. 1. 房間：入住雙人房，房間空間夠大，可以攤開行李平放地下。床也很舒服。Double room is large enough to put my luggage and stuff. Bed is comfortable.
2. 位置：住宿不在古城範圍裡，但也只是對面馬路而已，非常方便，還有好處是可以不用拖著行李走石板街。而且離碼頭很近，步行大約十分鐘；住宿外馬路就有電車站，可以到達巴士站。
Although it isn't located inside the old town, it's still near (and you don't have to cross the road in old town with luggage). It's 10 mins walk from the Pier. If you have to go to the Tallinn Bus Station, you can take the tram right in front of the hostel, which is very convenient for transition between cities.

Staff are nice and helpful. The counter is available 24/7

HI. Super apologies for being a million years late with my answer. I managed not to notice it. Anyhow - if it is not too late for the answer then:
1. public transport costs 2 euros for adult and 1€ for students (can be paid to the driver)
2. taxi from airport to Fat Margaret's Hostel is 6-8€.
Hopefully this settles it. Hoping to welcoming you soon in Fat Margaret's Hostel.
