2 times visited Viru hotel, first and last. First room smelled like somethig was dead there. Luckily we got new room 5 floors higher so there comes one star. Overall tidyness is poor and carpeted floors are probably never chaged so dirt spots, here and there. One star is coming from pretty good breakfast. Selection is good enough.
I am used to stay in this hotel because due to its history and excellent location. Unfortunately, it looks that the hotel has seen its best days. In particular, the breakfast is below the standard Sokos hotels. The room is too small for so large hotel and the service personnel has problems to keep up with the pace the food is vanishing.
"Race weekend" stay in a perfect location. Car park and shopping right next tot the hotel were essential for me. Also the walking distance from the Finnish line to the hotel was important. 4 am breakfast on Saturday and plentiful breakfast on Sunday were perfect and showed that the hotel really cared about us who started the long race early on Saturday and then after the race needed a lot of calories to fill the tanks next day. Everything worked well and all the personnel were kind and helpful.
Excellent service, nice and friendly hosts, clean rooms. Perfect location close to the old city center and nice restaurant. Nice view from the 21st floor. You have to request room cleaning but in view of sustainability this is normal nowadys. No need to change your towels every day
Everything was perfect but there were no special coffees at the breakfast but the selection of edibles was proper hotel-quality! :D Love the KGB-stories on it's history and the roof bar with views! Probably the top notch hotels in the city?
I stayted here for the Ironman weekend in Tallin. Sokos is a comfortable hotel, very well located for the race weekend and sightseeing. Breakfast has what you need for race day (maybe missing peanunt butter!), and opens early for the ones competing on saturday and sunday. Spacious room and friendly staff, no frills. but has what you need.
I enjoyed staying at the hotel. Affordable price, great location & lovely staff. Excellent service. Even though we wanted a few changes in the room when we checked in the staff were very warm , respectful and proactive. Everyone always had a smile.
Hey 1 Large bed would been better And more space in shower. Found some old trash in room. Empty fridge was nice. Breakfast was OK but was not 4 star quality for example 1st morning bacon was cold and 2nd one bread was opened and butter inside from the basket. Coffee was not good. Hotel location was very good. Service was good and some even spoke Finnish.
All and all very good visit. We visited 2 nights. Our first day, no one couldn't check in before 3pm. Reception lobby was very crowded and it took long time to check in all visitors. Room was nice and tidy. Second night there was some drilling sound about 10pm that lasted about half hour. Otherwise no disturbing sounds. Breakfast was nothingspecial, but good normal hotel breakfast. If you don't go at breakfast among firsts it may be hard to find free table. We didn't haf that problem but i saw many people having trouble to find free seat. Hotel location is very good at city centre or near it. Next to old Tallinn where is many points of interest. Shops, restaurants and attractions. We arrived at ship and hotel is also within walking distance from the harbor.
A classic hotel with a superb location. Rooms are slightly outdated, but clean. The mini suite with sauna provided lots of room and a fantastic view over the city. The queen bed was new and very comfortable. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was at a standard level, however the restaurant would benefit of a refurbishing; especially the furniture.
