The one star is for the location (about a 7 minute walk from the Old Town) a lovely quiet lobby, and a just adequate room, although ours #231 faced a concrete wall. See picture below. The rooms have safes but they don’t operate via a combination. You have to ask for a key ( god forbid they should tell you this at check-in so you don’t have to make another trip downstairs). We opted against it since if one of us needed something from the safe and the other person was off doing something else, it wouldn’t help anyway. Also a key is another thing to misplace... Also, the sheets are too small for the bed so they don’t tuck in and you wake up on the mattress yuck, On our first night, completely exhausted, we decided to have an early dinner at the hotel. There was a group in the restaurant and it was a buffet dinner which we didn’t want. We asked the waitress if we could order Caesar salads. She retorted:”we have a group so not until 7 pm- it was 6 pm at the time). We got up and said “what about room service?”. She looked at us as if we were morons and said: “didn’t you hear me? Not until 7 pm”. Now first of all, that was rude. Second if you are having a buffet, the food is already cooked, so making a Caesar salad is not a big deal. These people seem to have forgotten they are in a service industry. I guess they are understaffed and that is hotel management’s problem. So is teaching ( or in our case ) failing to teach your employees common courtesy. The woman at the front desk wasn’t much better when we told her the problem. The other issue was NOISE. Whether it was from outside the hotel, or guests in the hotel yelling from room to room and slamming doors, the place was insanely noisy. Also we were staying on the same floor as the Indian wrestling team and they must have been practicing their moves in their rooms because at least five times in one evening our headboards moved as if there had been an earthquake. It didn’t stop until I hurled myself against ours. They must have gotten the idea although it happened again the next morning. On our first morning there, members of the team were getting dressed on the elevator landing as we came out. I would say that if you are going to misbehave, you shouldn’t do it with your colleagues wearing their team outfits right next to you.... In any event I will be telling our travel agent so they don’t book any future hapless clients here. You, of course, having read this review, are forewarned.

The Hotel is conveniently located close to Fat Margaret's Tower and adjoining gateway to the old town. The Hotel building is a superbly converted former industrial property. The rooms are well furnished, spacious and comfortable and cleaned to a high standard along with the en suite shower room. Breakfast is very good, a reasonably extensive variety of well prepared food. I have stayed at the Hotel on previous visits to Tallinn and the standards have remained consistently high. The only minor criticism was the lack of instructions for the coffee machine in the bedroom.

The hotel is nicely situated just outside the Old Town, approx 10 minutes walk from the ferry port and even closer to the local tram network for access to the airport. The building itself was clean and comfortable. The room was fine...clean, modern (if a little sparse). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower very good. The coffee machine in the room gave a reasonable cup of coffee, once I'd figured out how to work it! Breakfast was fine....a decent if not extensive choice of hot and cold food on offer. By the last day, having the same choice became a little tiresome! However, I loved the porridge! The staff were professional and efficient. All staff encountered spoke excellent English. Tip: there's no need to really use the trams once in Tallinn, apart from transiting from the airport, as everything is within easy walking distance. We didn't try the restaurant in the evening, as there are plenty of places to eat in the Old Town. We really liked 'Soo Uulits' burger restaurant nearby. Casual, great burgers, fantastic fries! There's also a supermarket nearby to buy cheap drinks for the rooms. Would I stay again? YES!
