My City Hotel OÜ stands out for its distinctive style and convenient location, just a short stroll from Old Town Tallinn, which guests frequently applaud. The rooms are often highlighted for their stylish comfort, though there are sporadic mentions of noise and cleanliness issues. While the hotel's atmosphere, marked by elegant Italian furnishings, gains appreciation, some opinions on decor suggest it's somewhat dated. The staff's helpfulness and attentiveness are repeatedly commended, and the value proposition, with reasonable rates for the amenities and location, is widely acknowledged by visitors.

The hotel is located on the edge of the Old Town. It’s a good location for the Old Town and you can walk to the ferry terminal although I wouldn’t recommend it with a large suitcase because of all the cobblestones. The reception area looks quite modern but our superior room was a bit old and dated. It was very quiet at night as it was facing the back however the blinds let way too much light in and provided a far too early wake up call. The room itself had a desk, fridge, small table, coffee machine, small TV with very limited English channels, and a safe which you needed to get a key from reception to use it. Bottled water was provided free. The bathroom was quite small with ok amenities but lacked an electrical plug. Wifi was a bit patchy.
Breakfast was included and the variety was ok. For the rate paid it was reasonably good value.

The hotel is located in the epicentre of entertainment and dining, beautiful and comfortable. It has kept up it's high standard of service for many years without any signs of aging. There is a lot of marble and original art used in interior decor, the rooms are furnished with good sense of style and valuable materials. It has character - no other place in Tallinn looks and feels like this hotel. The materials, artwork used and the design of it's interior come straight from Italy, as it's owner, who keeps hie eye on and takes good care of his property. A lot of attention ahs been paid on every little detail. As a result, the place makes you feel cosy and comfortable, wanting to come back. Parking in the gated courtyard next to the back door of the hotel is just a real luxury in busy old town.

We wanted to book a family room at this hotel, but all the family rooms were booked, so we ended up booking two rooms, one for me and my mum, the other for my brother and my dad.

The rooms were comfortable, nice size with a smallish bathroom, and the corridors were well lit and maintained, the rooms had a similar layout and feel, with a two single beds, that could be combined into a double bed, a desk and chest of drawers.

We stayed for one night and we were very comfortable. Breakfast was offered in the morning, as a buffet. We really enjoyed this. The location was perfect, although best if you were staying in the old town, next to Hollywood club!

Good location, good service, good rooms. Good stay.

Excellent hotel located in a perfect area of Tallinn Old Town. It has easy transport links to and from the airport. We used the tram (No. 4) from the airport which dropped us off about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. It cost €1.50 each for a single journey.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfast caters for everyone and has a good selection of hot and cold food options. We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the fountain outside the main entrance and next to a nightclub (Club Hollywood) which we found out operates on Fridays and Saturdays. We were concerned about the potential noise but with the windows shut we couldn’t hear any noise and none when the club emptied so our sleep was not disturbed. A great city hotel with superb access to the sights of Tallinn. We would not hesitate to stay here again and throughly recommend it.

We chose the hotel inspired by the pictures and description on the web page. We have visited Tallinn often, and we wanted to treat ourselves to a location close to the old town in a more traditional, historical setting. The location of the hotel is excellent, your can get to Vabaduse Väljak bus stop directly from the Reisisadam harbour and just walk shortly to the hotel. It is right on the edge of old town, so it is more quiet than the hotels in the dead center close to bars, but still only two blocks away from the town square.

The building is beautifully restored with marble staircases and the rooms are decorated in good taste, no kitchy b/w pictures, but period curtains and nice furniture. It is not a luxury boutique hotel, but still an upgrade to your avereage three-star. The courtyard terrace has a few tabless, but is a bit frumpy, and there is no outdoor service.

We had higher expectations based on the website, so we were a bit disappointed when entering the hotel. The reception is a little off-center, and even though the staff are friendly and we we're greeted politely and welcomingly, the lobby feels a little deserted. The artwork advertised as coming from the owner's private collection was something we were looking forard to, but found a bit underwhelming, very pretty, but run-of-the-mill prints and contemporary abstracts. Breakfast was also nice but far from luxury, there was decent variety of foods (including bacon, yay!), but especially the baked goods seemed to come from freezer boxes, not an actual bakery. However, the variety was adequate, and everything was fresh, and the staff, again, very friendly and welcoming.

We realised during our stay that we could have used a bit more information beforehand. For example, the sauna was closed due to renovations, but instead of mentioning this on the web page the page was simply disabled, leading us to think the page just has a bad designer. The safety box in the room is not a code-punching-box, but needs a key you can obtain from reception, which was not mentioned to us, so ask for it when you check in. The minibar was just an empty fridge, and there was no info on how to request drinks for upstairs. There was a breakfast-in-bed-menu, but nothing more. When checking out we noticed a display of drinks in a glass canbinet, so if you desire an evening fizzy drink, inquire about it when checking in. We were asked to provide a credit card number upon check-in, which was in retrospect a bit funny, as we weren't offered any goods or services to purchase.

All in all, we warmly recommend staying here, as it is one of the nicer mid-class hotels, very affordable yet nice. Just don't let the webpage fool you into thinking you're booking a cozy luxury getaway. :)

We're glad to hear that you appreciated the beautiful setting, convenient location, and tasteful decor of our hotel. It's also great to know that you found our staff friendly and welcoming. We're sorry for the lack of information regarding the sauna, safety box, and minibar. We have now reactivated the information about the sauna on our homepage, and we will make sure our reception team provides more comprehensive details during check-in. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Kelli Hotel management

This was a beautiful hotel but was let down with a few issues . When my husband and I walked into our bedroom we were shocked at how badly stained the carpet was , it was practically big stains everywhere and even a cigarette burn . Can understand an odd stain but this was stained everywhere. This carpet should have been shampooed and cleaned . Also only one of the lockers had a plug so only one person could charge their phone when in bed . We also were woken up early every morning as no blackout blinds . The curtains when pulled over had gaps at either side so the early summer light shone in from 5am .
The breakfast was ok but was the same every day . No choice of pastries or breads and very small croissants which didn’t seem fresh just processed . The fruit bowl was also like tinned fruit and the yogurt was watery not thick like Greek yogurt to put on top of fruit or cereal .
The lift didn’t always work so lucky I was on the 2nd floor as I use a walking stick . I was in room 205 which was not too bad to walk up too .
The staff seemed friendly enough but didn’t have much interaction with them as never had to pass the reception as theywere positioned in a strange place

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. We sincerely apologize for the state of the carpet in your room. We will immediately address this with our housekeeping team to ensure that it is thoroughly cleaned and maintained to a higher standard. Your comments regarding the breakfast are valuable, and we will review them to see how we can enhance our offerings and provide a better variety. Regarding the front desk placement, our hotel is housed in a historic building that was once the headquarters of maritime officers, which has influenced the layout and design. We understand that this may be different from what you’re used to, and we appreciate your understanding. We’re also sorry to hear about the issues with the lift and the lack of blackout blinds. We will look into these matters to improve our services. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable stay in the future. Best regards, Kelli Hotel management

My City Hotel has a superb location in the middle of everything in the old town of Tallinn. When it comes to my most recent stay in the hotel, everything went extremely well. Booking through the hotel site was quick and easy, the check-in could be done conveniently online, the (superior) room was clean and in blameless shape, and the breakfast provided me with appropriate and wide enough selection of alternatives. Soundproofing of the rooms - against both internal (from within the hotel) and external (from the street) noise - could be a bit better... but during my quiet weekday stay in April that did not cause too much disturbance, either.

The hotel couldn't have a better location, the beds were really good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Only af few things could have been better. For a 4-star hotel it was strange that there was only a tiny piece of hand soap at the sink in stead of a soap dispenser. Also the breakfast could have been better. The bread was dull and the fried eggs seemed cooked and not fried. Despite these small complaints I would choose My City Hotel again.

I had a business meeting at the hotel and stayed a few days. Someone mentioned a smell in the lobby in a previous review, and it was still there when I arrived, but was sorted out during our stay with people working at night to fix it. They did a great job.
The breakfast is great with a variety that you expect, the room had aircondition and was fair size. The restaurant was fantastic and we both had dinner and lunch which were much above the standard we were expecting, at a very reasonable price level.
The hotel is centrally located in the outskirts of old town, about 15 minutes from the airport by taxi, and 15 minutes by foot to the skyscrapers in the new town. there is a lot of nice modern art on the walls in the Hotel, not to forget, and the service level was very good for all our purposes. I will definitely have it on my list of good hotels next time I visit Tallinn.

We booked this hotel last minute for a trip to Tallinn based on a great price and great reviews... We were not disappointed. It’s a simple clean hotel where you are met by friendly helpful staff helping you immediately relax into your time in Tallinn. It felt very NOT like a corporate hotel but a little retro in a good way and has lots of character. They also have a “good sleep” plan which provides herbal tea and lavender packs in a more secluded part of the hotel... I didn’t do this but had a very cosy, warm quiet room and got a great sleep! Highly recommended hotel for a weekend stay... simplicity done well!

How easy is it to get to Helsinki for the day and is it worth it? Thank you.
Answer from Killu M
Dear Susan, it's very easy to take a day trip to Helsinki, there are about 10 departures each day and trip takes about 2 hours. Terminals in Tallinn and Helsinki are very close to city center. You can buy tickets online or also at the terminal. We can assist with this in hotel as well! Welcome to Tallinn!

We paid 8 euros from the airport to our hotel in the Old Town, it’s only a 10 minute journey! We walked straight out of the terminal and got one from outside, only certain companies are allowed at the airport I believe, there is s big sign in the terminal showing the company names.

There is one about 7-10 minute walk from hotel per staff. Ask front desk and they will show you on map, but it's reportedly very busy with other guests. If possible, do laundry in hotel bathroom. We did, slightly inconvenient for set up but works.

Dear Sir/Madam, Yes, we do have parking places available just behind the hotel, in closed court yard. Parking costs 20 eur per night and if possible, please book in advance since only limited places are available. Looking forward to welcoming you in Tallinn!

Is this hotel good for children?
Answer from HelenErnits
Tallinn, Estonia
Dear Mrs Rachel C, thank you for this good question! Families with children are most welcome in our hotel. It's perfect in case you want to explore Tallinn by foot - if your little ones get tired, it's not far to return to hotel for a brake or nap. There's no special entertainment for kids in hotel, but plenty to do and discover nearby. Children (and their parents) are very welcome here! Killu Maidla, hotel manager
