A comfortable and elegant lifestyle hotel created in the 19th-century city estate of German-Baltic Baron von Stackelberg – a small, cozy quarter of its own located next to the beautiful medieval Old Town of Tallinn, Estonia. Originally built in 1874, the building has an exciting history and underwent complete restoration in 2015 and is constantly being improved and renovated. The von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn is located directly at the foot of Toompea Hill, only a few steps away from Toompea Castle, Nevsky Cathedral and the numerous landmarks of the best preserved medieval town in Northern Europe. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast at the cozy restaurant Emmeline, which is also opened for fine dining and casual meals. For food lovers the OTTO's Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy some drinks and delicious meals in a lovely atmosphere. You can also choose to chill out in front of a fireplace in the von Stackelberg Lobby Bar with a delicious cocktail and a good book from the library corner. For those in the need for a pampering, our Zen SPA with a visit to the Japanese pool and sauna is a must.

This hotel has history, character and and a lovely calm ambience. The Old Town centre is just ten minutes walk from it and buses stop outside. It is Covid safe with antiseptic cleanser and notices in place around the building. Check in and check out was quick and easy and reception staff presented professional and helpful. Kelli provided us with essential information about Covid19 laws in Tallinn and supported us in printing out our uk locator forms.
Our bedroom was warm comfortable and clean with tea/coffee tray and kettle which was most welcome after a day sightseeing in -4 degrees. There was a mini bar and safe although I would think the latter’s location at the very bottom of the wardrobe would present difficulty in accessing it to anyone with mobility issues as it was necessary to get low onto the floor to open it up. The bathroom had a spa bath with a shower and a little wooden step providing access however for guests like myself that are petite May struggle to climb in and out of it. The complimentary toiletries are lovely and unusually for hotel shampoo it left the hair soft and shiny however the hairdryer ( an old fashioned box and bendy tube on the wall) was not easy to use and made it difficult to blow dry.
Breakfast in the well laid out dining room was plentiful with hot and cold options however the hot food was only warm but the porridge is definitely the best I’ve eaten anywhere.
There is a spa payable at the hotel however we didn’t have time to use it despite taking our swimmers in anticipation.
The hotel’s outdoor space looks amazing all lit up at night but given the time of year it wasn’t in use.
Hotel Von Stackelberg was the perfect choice for us and we would certainly stay again if returning to Tallinn.

The von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn is located in a quiet neighborhood, up the hill to the castle and the Cathedral and about 1.1 km from the old town. There are tram stops outside the hotel if you don't want to walk. You can get a Tallinn transportation card (2 euros- refundable at the airport) +24-72 unlimited public transportation for around 10 euros for 72 hours and 4 for 24 hours at most convenience stores.

This boutique hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but when you enter you are surprised how bright, fresh, modern and tastefully furnished it is. There is a comfortable library bar for wine and tapas and a spa on B1. The outside courtyard would be a perfect place to have a meal during the summer. Checking in was fast, professional and welcoming.

The medium sized single room, on the top floor (there is an elevator) has a sky light which makes the room bright but no windows. Outlets aren't near the bed but the internet is fast and reliable. The safe is at a good height and there is an empty refrigerator. The bathroom has a shower and average amenities but the towels should be bigger and fluffier. The bed was comfortable enough.

Breakfast is served on B1. The buffet is a typical Estonian hotel breakfast with cold cuts, herring, salads, cereal, eggs ( not made to order) with garnishings, juice (not fresh) and coffee or tea. The toaster is very unusual and old fashioned. A good quality and hearty breakfast to start the day.

The staff were sincere, professional and very helpful. They are a good source of information and restaurant suggestions.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by The von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn. It's a hotel with history, located in a good quiet neighborhood that provides comfortable rooms, good service at reasonable rates. You'll definitely NOT be disappointed staying here.

The hotel atmosphere is superb, an old manor estate meets some modern technologies (Lift, air conditioning etc.). The Courtyard is beautiful and in war nights very pleasant to sit and enjoy drinks and good company. The rooms are spacious and following the history and having some parts of wall tiles exposed which brings nice feeling. The breakfast and restaurant were great. The SPA we did not try, even though the saunas and swimming pool were available to every one with just a time slot reservation. Also the location is just on the left/western corner of the Old town and only 800 m walk to the old town center and Town Hall market.

Stayed the weekend in Zen Deluxe room and it wasn't all that fancy as we thought. I had ordered a romantic setting with sparkling wine and fruitplate in advance. When came to the room, the sparkling wine was not that chilled, it was tucked into a way too small cooler and there were no ice. Even though we went to ask for an ice (needed to go to a separate building), they gave us the same bucket filled with ice. (Couldn't fit the bottle in it, because it was so small and filled with ice). These might seem like small details, but for us it meant, we couldn't enjoy the sparkling wine we paid for, other than having it luke warm. Maybe getting a bigger coolers might solve the problem.
The fruit plate had been done hours earlier, since the half of the apple and half of the pear that were sliced into the plate had gone "brown" already. Also it wasn't that fancy. It could have been a bit bigger.

Also the floor heating was broken in the bathroom and when we came to the room, the bathroom floor was burning up. Had to turn off the whole thing for the whole time we were there. It was awfully hot in the bathroom and you couldn't stand there with bare foot. It was way too hot. Turning off the whole floor heating solved the problem, but then the floor was cold. Luckily there were slippers in the room.

Also, stayed for the whole weekend and only got trash emptied. Cleaner tried to came twice (15 minutes in between the door knocks) and we said we are just heading out. Could have tried a third time. Came back hours later and noticed that nothing had been done. Only took away the trash (already while we were still there), but left the dirty dishes, bed unmade and toiletry/ coffee unfilled. Even rose petals that were sprinkled over the bed when we came, we needed to pick up ourselves.

Also on Saturday there was a big party downstairs and we could hear the music until midnight. Not that peaceful setting for a romantic weekend.

Breakfast was a big disappointment. I was expecting so much more variety and the place for the breakfast was awfully designed (way too crowded and way too small). You couldn't go around the buffet table and people who were waiting to get the food from the table blocked the way to get around in the whole room. It wasn't that peaceful either, because there were too many tables in such a tiny place.

But staff was friendly!

We stayed here for 4 nights in a Zen room. First the good points, nice location only minutes to the old town, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very polite. The rooms are well equipped but a bit small. Our room was on the inside over the courtyard which was lite beautifully, until about 2 am even with the blackout curtain that did not fully fit the window I could read a book without the room lights on! The bed this had 2 mattress toppers on and the sheet only just covered the toppers which ment each morning the sheet would come out and you found yourself just lying on the topper, unless you don't move at all in the night, also the quilt is to small for the bed when laid flat only just reaches the edge. Finally the smell of drains this could be smelt in our bathroom there was an open drain on the floor and at times in the corridor on the 2nd floor if I could smell this with a poor sense of smell the staff could most definitely. It's a shame as this could be a lovely hotel.

We managed to get to Tallinn just before the UK went into it's 2nd lockdown arriving on 2nd Nov. 2020.
The reception staff were very obliging and moved our initial reservation from March to November without penalty.
We checked the situation with Ken on reception who explained the entry regulations clearly before we set off from the UK
On arrival Ken upgraded our room to include a Jacuzzi bath in our bathroom which we both enjoyed after a long day walking around and taking in the sights.
The Seaplane museum was recommended to us and was indeed one of the finest museums we've visited.
Helena on the bar at Otto's ( within the hotel) was pleasant and we had a few drinks early doors there including two free drinks on the house.
Dagmar was another reception staff member who deserves recognition who spent alot of time trying to find out if the ghost tours of Tallin Old Town were being held during the pandemic, which they weren't.
The staff here were some of the best we've met during many years of travel and a real credit to the hotel! Truely nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is on the outskirts of the Old Town with a couple of bar/ restaurants just across the street which provided slendid food and drink at a reasonable cost.
We rented the Sauna suite from the hotel for €44 per hour which was very relaxing although the jacuzzi there could have been a tad warmer.
All in all a great hotel, staff and stay to remember, thanks one and all for making our break so special!

Lovely spacious room, clean and comfortable with English speaking channels on the TV in the room. Breakfast had both hot and cold buffet. Beautiful hotelon the edge of the old town. Tallinn card recommended as you can use the hop on hop off bus and it has the entrance fees paid to sites as well.

I made a mistake when booking and only paid for a single person in a double room, but they very kindly upgraded this free of charge to let my partner stay too. While this service in advance was very friendly, the staff in general were not too welcoming, although not rude at all - just not many smiles anywhere. We found this was a general theme in the Baltic States - perhaps it is the grey weather! The room itself was a good size and the bath tub with jets was great. The bed was also very comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection and it was a nice touch to provide a glass of prosecco each morning. The only negative was the additional expense to use the spa area in the basement. The position was great - just outside the old city but only a few minutes walk away.

The Zen room was not as big and well equipped as I thought. Bathtub was normal size but it was a nice bonus. The aircon worked well and the beds were very comfy. Hotel was very quiet and had a beautiful garden. The distance to old city restaurants was short and if you prefer taking taxi to Viru center it was only less than 3 euros by car. The only downside was the breakfast. Due to Covid19 it was buffet but served by the staff. The service was quite slow during the morning rush hour. Selection was big enough but the staff didn´t have time to fill the bread baskets, teapots etc. Anyways I would think of staying there again amd recommend it to my friends.
