I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Vilnius. Apartments are simply stunning, 100 metres away from Cathedral and most importantly free parking if you plan a road trip. Service is perfect and always attentive.
Excellent location - just off the main Pilies Street. Very helpful and obliging hostess Irene. Arranged a taxi for us at 4 AM. Very cheerful and tastefully done up apartment. Great loft bed. Good quality sleep. Efficient security arrangement to enter building. Kitchen with all amenities and also some provisions. Good toiletries. Very clean and pleasant ambience. Negatives : · Nothing in particular
These apartments are great value. They are very near to most of the Vilnius attractions. Building is an old 18th century one which adds to its characters. It is a lovely place to stay. We checked in very late (after mid night) but the check in was very smooth. Lady at the check-in reception even remembered that I had called to inform her that I will be checking in late. She is very warm and very helpful. Everything in our apartment was super clean. Bed was comfortable. There is a functioning kitchen in the apartment as well. The only little niggle we had was that you can hear your neighbours clearly. Our neighbours were not the silent types and we could hear them talking loudly till late in the night.
If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this is the place for you. The apartments are located in a building dating from 1795. They are spacious, clean and well equipped. Despite the central location, a minute’s stroll from Pilies Street and its bars and restaurants, the apartments are very quiet. Once inside the central courtyard it’s like stepping back in time. It is well worth taking advantage of the airport transfer service provided.
Staying in Skapo Apartments feels like living in Vilnius as a local, rather than just visiting it as a tourist – it felt as if we were in our own home in the city. It is an ideal central location from which to explore Vilnius as it is within easy walking distance of all the main sites – Presidential Palace, Cathedral Square, Gediminas Tower, the Three Crosses, the University/ St John’s Tower (great views of the Old Town from the top), Uzupis, the Town Hall (Tourist Office), Gate of Dawn, etc, etc. 100 metres from Pilies St. with its numerous restaurants, pubs and a small convenience store if required. It was so convenient to return to during the day for a bite to eat or a short rest if one wanted to. We stayed here for five nights in a standard apartment that could sleep four – although there was only two of us. The apartment was full of character, a little quirky, but ideal for our requirements – clean, comfortable, spacious, a good size bedroom, lounge (where the second bed is located), bathroom, hallway and a small but well equipped kitchenette area. Mind you, if there was four staying in the apartment, I think there would have to be two meal sittings as the table was very small – I could not see four being able to sit together at the table. Also, there was no room safe, but I didn’t bother checking with the lady in reception to see if there was any safe keeping facility available. I booked directly with Skapo Apartments and in fact got it a bit cheaper than if I had booked with any of the various hotel booking websites. Also, as our flight was arriving at 23.00, I decided to book an airport transfer with the owner (€20), knowing that even with our late arrival, we would have no problems checking in to our apartment at that late hour. If you take the public transport from the airport, it is quite a distance to be dragging a suitcase from the bus station to Skapo Apartments as well as the difficulty of trying to locate Skapo St when not familiar with the city on first arrival, especially if your arrival time is late evening. I would recommend booking their transfer service just to be landed at the reception door. The lady who checked us in, while having very little English – but knew more English than I knew Lithuanian - was very friendly and helpful giving us a quick tour of our apartment at that late hour of the night. We had a late evening flight on our departure day, and there was no problem leaving our luggage in the reception area after check out, while we continued our sightseeing for the rest of the day. When there, we booked their transport service for our return to the airport – just makes life a bit easier. In short, Skapo Apartments provides a great base from which to explore Vilnius and I would happily recommend them for convenience and value and the fact that they are in a private and secured courtyard. If I was to return to Vilinius, that’s where I would stay again – I wouldn’t even look for anywhere else. However, I do have one small criticism which has nothing to do with the apartment itself. After I received confirmation of my booking, I immediately had to send an email to them to make some amendments to the booking. Unfortunately, it took two further emails and 17 days letter before I received a response, but in fairness to them, they apologised for the delay in replying.…
