At Hotel Maj I was treated with arthrosis. There was good accommodation, food and nursing care. Also, the contact with the staff in the recession was very good - they ordered taxi travel according to the patients' wishes and provided information for traveling around the spa town.
I should not expect much as this was 3* property, but was quiet disappointed and mainly because of the food. Hotel is located on site, about 35 minutes walk to the city center. So if you want prime location book other hotel. Every team member, which we met during our stay was true professional and provided great services. We were very happy with all procedures booked. Rooms have been slightly renovated some time ago, but there was a horrible smell in bathroom coming out of sink and shower. Bed mattress was very soft for me, so did not enjoy sleep at all. The very bad part was restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. Breakfast coffee from the machine cannot be called coffee. Over easy and omelet at the breakfast was way overcooked. Rest of buffet ham and cheese were ok. I checked many reviews before booking this hotel and they were saying how good is the food there. So it was truly disappointing to find out that all 5 options for dinner are heavy & unhealthy options. Like snitzel, french fries, fried buttered fish, gulash, halusky. Nothing lighter. I stayed in 3* properties before and they all had at least one light option for dinner. So, if you prefer lighter type meals for dinner as we do, do not stay here. We had room located next to stairways and to lift so it was very noisy in the evening and early morning as people were passing by and talking loud. Piestany are nice city, if visiting again will book some other hotel.…
Because I received an offer to spend a long weekend in this hotel, I decided to do this, especially ,the offer it was with SPA. I can say, that the time spent in this location it was woanderful..so I will visit again in the future
This hotel is falsely advertized as the only truly wheelchair accessible hotel in Slovakia. What a LIE! I took my elderly mom here for her birthday, hoping that we finally found a place in which we will not be limited by my mom's wheel chair. Boy, were we wrong. There were so many things wrong with this place from the very beginning that I cannot even begin to list them. First of all, the whole wheel chair accessible pitch is a complete fabrication or someone does not actually understand what it means to provide wheelchair access. The whole point of "barrier free access" is that the person on a wheelchair should be able to be as independent as possible. This is NOT the case in this place. Upon arriving in this hotel (which has an uphill side walk from the parking lot on which you have to push the wheelchair up), we were greeted by a lukewarm, disinterested staff who put us in a room where the door to the bathroom was so small, my mom's wheelchair did not fit. Mind you, I had CALLED this hotel THREE times to tell them that we will be requiring an accessible room. Every time they said, yes, of course, all our rooms are accessible. Hmmm...NO! I ran down to the desk and said that this room is not acceptable because my mom cannot use the bathroom. The person at the desk seemed very annoyed and gave us another room. Old and decrepit but at least the door ways were wide. The toilet however had no handle bars or side bars that would help my mom use it. Just as well we brought our own! If my mom did not have me around, the access to the hallways where the rooms were and the rooms themselves was such that she would not be able to open the door by herself! The pool which was advertised as having a lift did not have a lift so my mom could not swim. All the other doorways to the spa were not wide or accessible. The hallway leading to the spa was steep, going down. My mom would crash down if I did not hold the chair. The tables in the restaurant were small and also not accessible. The staff was disinterested and annoyed most of the time. I payed for a massage in the spa which was in a little cubicle without low walls, so in a place where I was supposed to relax I could hear all noise and conversations of all other people (at least 6) who were getting a massage at the same time. When I dared to ask for a private room, the three people working at the desk started whispering to each other about how ridiculous I was being. Yah. So, please, if you are coming with a friend or family member with a disability, do not be fooled by the hotel's description. They know nothing about accessibility and professionalism. Also, in general, there are other, nice hotels in Piestany which are actually much closer to the center and the spa island that this one is really in the end a total joke.…
When you see the place on internet/website it seems good but that's an odd place. They charge for everything that's extra (bathrobe, to use the pool, etc). The staff are not very friendly and if you don't speak Slovakian, German or Russian you will have a problem. Their English is pretty broken. I couldn't use the SPA service one day because the guy on charge of the reception this days couldn't give to me the information I wanted. It is a old hotel that was renovate in some parts. The neighbourhood of the hotel has nothing to offer. If you need wnat to do something you need to go to town (30 min walk or 10 by bike). Ah, the internet was also a problem. The connection is not stable in any time of the day.
A huge room with a big bathroom and a balcony. Comfortable and clean. But the hotel had added charges for everything, from a fridge in the room to robes and access to the pool. I've never stayed in a hotel where they charge for the use of their own pool! The dining options are pretty much non-existent. But lots of places to eat in Piestany which is half an hour walk.
And this one is super cheap.U need taxi to or from train station/or bus station/ one can add 2x5 euro evan than its a bargain.Enviromentally friendly rooms, with balcony.Great service.Dont know abt their restaurant but when I said i have for breakfast usually just cafe and cake no buffet,I did get cafe and cake-for free!/breakfast was not included in price/.Piestany is one of best Slovak Spa.Also its near Bratislava /60 min train ride/there similar hotel can cost 20 euro more.
we booked for 1 night this hotel very good on price and value. my wife had massage .we use the pool but water was cold due to technical fault. we could enjoy more if water was more hot. staff friendly . food isnt the best.we enjoyed only goulash soup and salad . we went at the bar were surprisely was live music wed and fri. very nice indeed. overrall we had a pleasant stay.
The slightly poor location is more than made up for by 1) the low price when we booked it (37 euros on a thursday night - some places were charging 200 euros per night) and 2) the excellent and friendly staff that all spoke english. we walked from town with our backpacks....maybe 2 km from the center - this was after we checked out a few other hotels who's rooms were in bad need of updating. we took a taxi that evening for 4 euros. the rooms are huge and spacious and really clean. it has however one of those "showers" that is a sprinkler and curtain in the middle of the bathroom but it was a good shower. i even had a massage for dirt cheap and was really good. pity we had to move on
We had full week of business stuff, so I really enjoyed the relax options, I especially enjoyed the pool and bikes. And the staff is so nice, that was the best, nice people made my stay really pleasant.
