It's true that the price was really cheap, but the hostel has lot of unpleasant details... Low level cleanlinlees, noisy street at night, tiny kitchen, broken flush, uncomfortable beds... I think that you can find better options around.

Very flat welcoming vibes from the host. The overall cleaning of the place as soon as we have arrived were very poor. Messy kitchen, sticky floor everywhere, dusty and hair everywhere in the toilets. Our beds were also full of hair and in the bedroom carpet got very wet for a no-functioning-well radiator. There are 2 Wc available for over 10 people which is fine, but one of them didn't flush and many times you were finding other people's "surprises". Race the whole floor to get a hot shower since the very old boiler has limited hot water. The hostel it's accessible to anyone during daytime since the hostel shares the gate with the pharmacy downstairs. We were not feeling safe at all, better lock your room at night time too. Noisy roads from people and cars. The hostel os located in front of a pub and close to the town's church that rings for 5 minutes long every 30 minutes during the day from 8.30am Sorry but I will never go back there again. On top of it, some of our sealed food got open (some cheese from Austria) and had to throw it away.…

We stayed here for one night in July as we were passing through Banska Bystrica . To be honest we didn't think Banska would have much to offer which is why we only booked for one night. How wrong we were. This little gem of a hostel is tucked away inside a courtyard, but it's still located right in the centre of the town. The rooms are clean, tidy and spacious, as were the bathrooms. There are LOADS of communal spaces to chill out, read, chat or play music. We would strongly recommend a visit to the Gaia teahouse which is opposite. The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. If we didn't have such a packed itinery we would've stayed an extra night as there is so much to see and do in Banska. Would highly recommend this hostel

I had an extremely great stay at Gran Hostel. The owners are so friendly and always trying to help you and purpose lot of things. The 6 beds bedroom is so clean and the decoration is cosy ! What we expect when we go in an hostel. I totally recommend this place if you want to spend time in this wonderful city BB. For sure, when I come back in Banska, I know where I will sleep : Gran Hotel :) Thks for everything and Hope to Come back soon

Gran Hostel is a cosy hostel, just next to main square. Rooms are spacious and everything is clean. Anna is amazing host, she will give you advices and will help you with you to discover city and region. This hostel has dorms but also private rooms for couple friends or family for very good prices. Definitely recomended!!

A wonderful hostel run by Anna and Robbie. Very homely. I felt right at home as soon as I walked in. The hostel is close to the historic square and close to cool bars and great places to eat. Anna is a wonderful host and is super helpful. She really adds to the overall atmosphere of the hostel. The hostel is clean and suitable for any traveller, young to seasoned. Fantastic hostel and so nice to find a family room. Anna is a fantastic host who is super helpful. The hostel is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. My 10 year old son said it was supercool! We were lucky enough to visit during a traditional Slovakian craft and folk festival. Lovely to see all the traditional crafts, singing and costumes. Also if you are vegetarian like me ask Regal Burgers in the square do two amazing veggie burgers. Although we could only stay Obe night we wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful town, friendly people and fantastic hostel. What more can you want!

Gran is very cozy and nice hostel. The owner lady is young, kind and very helpful. She can recommend you what to see, eating places, bars and she knows surround nature very well - if you want to hike she will tell you everything about hills/mountains close to Banska Bystrica (and also in the whole Slovakia :). There is also free food section which is helpful when you have nothing to eat - very friendly gesture :) This hostel opened only few months ago so you can still smell fresh breeze everywhere! Totally recommend for backpackers but also for families with kids!

This hostel just open 1 month ago. It's is clean and nice. Wooden chair and wooden bunk beds!😀😀 The owner lady is really nice. She show us some beautiful places to visit. Ohh I love the kitchen and free food section. It is totally warm. Keep it up! You're one of my best hostel experience.
