This hotel is located at the border of the lake, next to the old castle. Therefore a perfect location. It has a quiet atmosphere. Rooms are not perfect, but certainly okay. Staff was very friendly. I also had some nice conversations with some of them - e.g. cook and receptionist - about living circumstances, local habits and local food. Many...

Easy to reach and close (25 minutes) to Budapest. During summer for sure a nice Location, directly on the small lake and in an historic Castle like surrounding. The rooms are quite different and I would strongly propose to book a room with a normal shower option. I had room No 2, which is equipped with a normal bathroom, but...

This is the 6th hotel we have tried in Tata and now we have found "our place". Already the booking process was very smooth (via email) and outstandingly kind and helpful. We arrived on a Friday night and having booked a half board was supposed to have a dinner in a restaurant belonging to the hotel (table was reserved during...

This chef offers more than the average chef. More special and local dishes allowing you to get a good feeling of the Hungarian cuisine. Super nice wine card offers a variety of highly recommendable Hungarian wines as well as imported variants - all a perfectly matched to the menu. Great service, great food and very nice surroundings...highly recommendable 👍😎🐸

We wanted to stay at a small town for two nights to "recharge our batteries" between Budapest and Vienna. Tata was recommended on Rick Steve's "wall", and we are glad we came to Tata! This hotel is right next to the lake and the old castle, each one of their top attractions. (See photo.) The small hotel (12 rooms?) is...

i have stayed here many times but recently this place has fallen off badly. I stayed in Feburary 2016 and the heating in my room was not working, then in May when it was hot and humid the air con was not working, and they did not want to give me another room even though my room was like a...

A piece of heaven right next to the lake, with a perfect restaurant. The breakfast is above of expectation, it's lovely. You can take a walk in the park or around the lake. The room (apartman) was perfect, and confortable with a child. Jacuzzi, sauna is working and they are in a nice atmosphere.

The worst reception personnel. I have made a reservation on 16/06/2015, which has been confirmed and received the confirmation letter on the same day. Yesterday I sent an e-mail to them to inform the personnel from reception that my arrival will be around 21:00 - 22:00 as establish on 27th July. My sock was after several e-mail between me and...

What a gem of an inn. Small hotel, charming, quaint yet modern, and not to be missed. Located on the edge of the lake, within easy walking distance of the center of town yet remote enough to hear nothing more than the river running along the edge of the property. Clean, updated rooms, nicely designed....well worth the price.... outdoor sitting...

I had a single room which was spacious and comfortable. It was clean and very modern. The restaurant served great food and wine and was a nice atmosphere. Outside eating would have been nice, as the property is right on the lake and has a beautiful outlook. Bikes available to borrow to ride around the lake. Thoroughly recommend this property...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Platan Vararok Vendeghaz is awaiting its guests – either to relax or being on a business trip – right next to the Castle of Tata, in a historical environment, with the level of service, that our guests could experience previously at the Platan Restaurant & Cafe. In the 17th century, our premises already served as guest houses – owned by the Count Esterhazy family, and after long decades of decay, we reopened recently with the 21st century’s design, comfort and hospitality. Our inn has 10 uniquely designed one, and two-bedrooms, and a family apartment. For those who seek the historical scent of the place, our Baroque Room could give the impression of being in the era of the Esterhazys. In our climatized rooms minibar, phone, free WiFi, LED TV, room safe and hairdryer await our guests. ... more   less
