We have booked two rooms for 5 people, the rooms are very spacious, the beds are comfortable. In the kitchen there is a mini fridge and a necessary set of dishes. The staff is very polite and attentive. But there are details that can spoil the rest. It is very hot in the rooms, in August they heat up to maximum temperatures during the day and there is no coolness even at night. It is impossible to sleep with open windows, because mosquitoes fly. Room cleaning is offered only for money, only rubbish is taken out every day (which is a plus), towels are changed once a week on Wednesdays. But in general, if you don't expect 5 star service, the hotel is very nice.

The location of the apartment is extremely good. The center, the pedestrian street, many restaurants and the beach of Lake Balaton can be reached within a few minutes walk. The interior view of the apartment is pleasant, although the furniture and equipment are already heavily worn and need to be renovated.
The apartment is only accessible by spiral staircase. The apartment (P11) itself has two floors, the one bathroom, for example, can only be reached by stairs. Not recommended at all for the elderly and people with limited mobility. The apartment for 4 people has a double bed on each level, so it is not recommended for families with children.
The apartment has no air conditioning, ventilation is insufficient, there is absolutely no air upstairs. In high heat, the heat is unbearable.
The staff is helpful and kind. Cleaning could be more frequent and thorough.

It’s the second time we stay here at Abbazia Club Hotel.
We like that within few minutes we are either in the downtown city or at the Balaton lake.
Only negative thing this time is, that there are no longer any onsite parking and that you have to pay to park - we found a parking garage 10 minutes walk from the hotel….

Spacious rooms and good beds in a sleepy area. There is a cafe and restaurant close, but hours of operation may vary.
Short walk to the lake, parks, or center of town. More comfortable furniture than many resorts of this type.

The service was polite and caring. The hotel is a really charming country house vibe. We went with my family and they upgraded our room to bigger one than we originally had. All and all pleasent suprise. The pictures of the hotel are old on the webside. They had nice clean white sheets and the room was clean. They didnt had built in air conditioner but they had a fan in the our room that kept the room cool especially in the night when we also opened windows. Short distancess to everywhere. Lovely visit!🫶🏼

Room nr. 13 is in other building where is sauna and pool. That’s nice. But the room is street level and if you keep curtains open there’s open view to street. Also noise comes directly. Also quite darkness. If you have a choice don’t take this room.

Great choice if you want to stay in Keszthely, or by the Lake Balaton.
Located conveninetly in Keszhely. Very close to city center and also close to Lake Balaton, bot can be reached in 5-10 minute walk. Hotel has a private parking area, which is closed, you get a key for the parking area, places are limited.

The hotel has a few separate buildings around the main building. The red building has a large garden with outdoor swimming pool and sauna. No matter in which building you stay, you can use this pool and sauna free of charge. Beds and chairs available.
I stay here one week every year since 1992 . Our regular apartment is in the green building. It also has a nice garden.

The apartments are very well equipped. Kitchen has everything you need. Fridge, cooker, microwave oven, plates, glasses, cutlery...
The bathroom is always very clean. Has shower cabin and hairdryer also.
The room is spacious. You have a lot of space to put your stuff. There is a large wardrobe in the room.

In case of bad weather travel to Hévíz, it is just 15 minutes drive from here. Go to the thermal lake, you will love it.

Lake Balaton is very nice in summer. The water is around 22-25 degrees. Keszthely has a few beaches, there is a small admission fee to all beaches.

The hotel has a restaurant, that I haven’t tried, but as I heard it is ok, they have a very cheap 3 course menu for lunch.
There is a very good restaurant next to the main building with an inside terrace, Park Vendéglő. They have very good food, mostly Hungarian specialties. Prices are so cheap, you can come here every day, it is much better than to cook in your room.
The best restaurant in Keszthely is a Mexican restaurant on the main square. It has an outdoor terrace also. The food is really good, large portions, kind staff. Recommended to book a table in advance, as it is crowded almost every evening.

Good choice for families and for couples also. The hotel is very quiet, relaxing and cozy.

Keszthely is situated on the western shore of Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe and is basically an inland seaside resort - if that makes sense. The lakeside has had the (dubious) benefit of some artificiual beaches being constructed on it's shores. Most people stick to sitting on the grass on the strand (the designated sunbathing area. The strand also contains numerous bars and cafes Entrance to the strand is 990 forints for an individual for the day. The rate of exchange when I was there was 300 to the pound. This area is beautiful and absolutely ideal for families.

Away from the strand there is a nice cafe culture in the town and a reasonable range of shops. Unfortunately (from the point of a chap who enjoys his kip) there are also many nightclubs that don't close until 5am. I certainly rapidly became fed up at being awoken at 4.45 in the morning by revellers returning home.

First impressions of the hotel were not favourable. It was suffocatingly hot and the reception staff were totally uninterested and slow to the point of being stagnant. When I eventually got to the front of the queue I was initially told that I was being given a room in an annex about half a mile from the hotel - and half a mile further from the lake, a brief and very firm word regarding my unhappiness at this suggestion resulted in me being offered a room in the hotel proper. Please note that I was told that the hotel has a number of annexes scattered through the town so if you book this hotel be aware that they may try to place you some distance from the main attraction - the lakeside. When you register you are given an inventory of the room's contents and told in no uncertain terms that you need to check it yourself as any items that are missing will be charged at the end of your stay. I checked and there were numerous items missing - it would have been a costly error if I hadn't complied with their instructions.

The room was large with high ceilings and consisted of a small kitchen, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom.
The kitchen was reasonably equipped, with pots, pans, glasses etc and had a microwave cooker but strangely no kettle. The sitting area had a garish and very uncomfortable bedsttee, a dining table and chairs, a coffee table and a couple more chairs and a very old portable TV. The bedroom had two single beds with worn out mattresses pushed together to make a double. The pillows were thin to the point of emaciation and even piling them one on the other wouldn't allow for a comfortable kip. The bathroom consisted of a handbasin which wouldn't retain water, a toilet and a shower cubicle, the floor of whch was badly stained. There was a power shower fitted but when it was switched on and off it would fall off the wall. The towels were old and thin, almost transparent if held up to the light. There were a number of built in cupboards and wardrobes giving ample storage space.. There was no air conditioning and no fans provided. The kitchen sink was subject to trapped wind and would gurgle and bang loudly at random moments day and night.

There was a dining room and an outside area for alfrsco dining. I ate there twice, the second time because I was too tired to go out, I should have known better. The food was stodgy and uninspired. The waiters slow and unfriendly.

Overall the resort falls between two stalls being unsure if it wants to be a family destination or a rival to the clubbing scene one finds in the Med. I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel but the jury is out on the resort itself.

This is the second time I have stayed here and have had an enjoyable holiday on both occasions. Having said that , the rooms are rather basic and furnishings 'tired'. I am slightly taller than average and found the beds really small and uncomfortable.
The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay.
The location is good, in a quiet street but handy for the town centre, station and the lake.

We spent a wonderful week here during winter. No crowds, no hustle bustle and no over spending. Our room was warm and cosy. Plenty of room for the four adults and 1 x 15 month old baby in a cot. The appartment was cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied. The kitchen was small but well equipped.

This hotel is so central we hired a car and managed a day trip to Vienna and another one just over the Croation border. We spend all our other days exploring the wonderful local area and it's beautiful scenery. The palace was not open but we walked around the grounds admiring the rich architecture and found a great little Coach Museum with some very interesting exhibits.

The town centre was only a couple of streets away while in the other direction the bus and train stations were within 5 minutes of our rooms. This proved to be an easy way to get to Hevis and the hot spring lake.

While some restaurants were closed for the season We found a couple of fantastic places which offered good food at good prices and some well stocked supermarkets like Tesco for our home cooked meals.

This place buzzes in summer but I loved the tranquillity of the winter magic. Locals skating on the lake while others had sail boats on ski's. Just enough snow to play but not enough to cause a problem. It was bliss.

My absolute favorite thing about the hotel though was the staff. They were a little "proper" at first but once you spoke to them on a personal level they were fantastic and could not do enough for us. I hope my special friend Veronika is now well and looking after herself.

Would I recommend this place? You bet I would.

Dear Calderco Thank you for your kind words, we were very pleased to read them. As I read, you liked the Coach Museum; just a couple of yards away there are the Model-Train exhibition and the Hunting-trophy collection of five continents, await for your next visit, just like the sweet exhibition pieces of the Marzipan Museum. If you want to come back in any time during the year, just write me to the reservation@abbaziagroup.com, and I will gladly be at your disposal to arrange a date for your visit - and the best price available, of course. Least, but not last, Veronika is all well now, and was really happy to hear from you. Kindest regards from Hungary: Peter Nagy sales supervisor
