Hotel located directly on the waterside. The view of the lake from the rooms is fantastic. Unfortunately, the whole hotel was stuck in the last century. It was probably never renovated, the common rooms, the tables in the hotel restaurant are not properly cleaned and worn. The personal is not very devoted and enthusiastic. The food is OK, but not the healthiest. The parking lot is chaotic. Despite all negatív things the hotel was crowded we could hardly find a free table for us for breakfast or dinner. It is a real time machine travel back to 80s.

This clearly was a lovely hotel in it's day, but it's now dated and in need of renovating, the rooms are a mess with damaged cupboards, wardrobes and heating which cannot be adjusted so its like being in a sauna so you have to sleep with the window open. On the plus side the staff are pleasant and attentive, the hotel is placed in a lovely spot right next to the Balaton lake with lovely views, would I stay here again, no it needs bringing into the twenty first century.

Those who love retro things in a very good place, because since the 1970 opening of the renovated hotel apparently for nothing. The staff can provide information on rare occasions, wi-fi is not everywhere where it is not always there. After 45 minutes at dinner they asked me what to ask for a drink next to the dinner. The food is of varying quality. If someone has sent to punish szetetnél!

Travelled from Budapest by train (bus possible too) in off season, easy to find, quite busy with locals at weekend, quieter with more German speakers especially during week; good 'budget' half board deals for off season ('mid-range' in season). Checked in Friday evening, multilingual, otherwise personnel are courteous, polite and efficient; tv didn't work was changed over within 45 mins. Building early '70s, 'solid state' heritage, everything works including pool, most rooms with balcony and sitting area in room (wifi sort of works in rooms, better in lobby/bar area). Food of mostly Hungarian cuisine, ranges in quality from 6-8/10, breakfast included, and evening buffet available; soups, then mix for vegetarian, fish, chicken, meat with rice, potato etc., salad and dessert bar etc.. Hotel is in nice spot next to couple of parks, easy walking distance from centre, and related in town sites, about 15-20 minutes. Top tip, bring dressing gown and flip flops for pool.

Poor building, walls, windows are not maintained. Summer preparation was still ongoing, including restaurant of the walk way or garden preparation of the green plants. Batch is poor. Gym equipments is over any hotel expectation. The open air natural batch island was full with sh**t. The food is excellent.. The price is affordable.

Extremely dirty place, spider webs and insects all over the place. Mosquitos are huge, and there are no nets on the windows, no air conditioning either. Worst experience we had in a hotel. Food is horrible.

Shoreline highrise hotel on Lake Balaton, large trees & shady grounds with ample parking, no beach but a small island for sunbathing and access to the water. Friendly Reception but shortage of foreign language staff. Small rooms & washrooms but balcony - with full height doorway! - makes them seem larger & gives good views. Extensive buffet selections for both supper and breakfast. Facilities & furnishings are well 'worn' but functional.

A saját balatoni strand ápolatlan, a kacsák ürüléke sajnos nincs eltávolítva, a napozóágyak szakadtak, öregek, kényelmetlenek, szinte teljesen használhatatlannak mondanám őket, a partszakasz teljességgel ápolatlan. Back to the past! 2 points for Hotel Helikon! Although the rooms and the equipment are old and run-down, they are clean, and far better than anything else in the hotel. The private beach and the services of the restaurant are awful. The beach is full of duck droppings, the chairs are dirty, old and very uncomfortable. The whole coast is untidy. The worst part our stay was the dinner! I suggest every guest to make a little (or big) board with an Reserved signal. Lots of guests are very agressive and they take a seat easily, if you aren’t momentarily at the table. What’s more: our bottle and glasses with water were taken and somebody took seat at our table during our dinner! We had to look for another table to finish the meal. It depends only on luck if you can have the same place for the whole breakfast/dinner. Unfortunately, the dishes were cold and their quality were quite poor: Chicken wings (the only available poultry!!) & fish with a weird taste and cold pork. For our complaint at the end of the dinner we received a new bottle of water and a promise for a compensation at the breakfast. But it wasn’t a real compensation at all: the waiter offered us only an ’extra’ ham&eggs… no comment! I’m sorry but can’t suggest this hotel. There are 2 reasons why it’s still operating: 1: the old reputation and memory, 2: Helikon is the only hotel at the beach, you haven’t got any chance to take an other one.

Hotel Helikon is in a really nice area at Balaton Lakeside. Check in-out was fast, the room was clean and it had a nice view to Lake Balaton. The public areas are quite old, you can feel yourself like in the 70's and 80's, they really need some restorations here.Breakfast was overall, nothing special. There are a lot of restaurants and a beach nearby.I had mixed feelings about the staff, some of them were really kind, others were anxious.

In the second half of April this year our group of three couples from Zagreb, Croatia, including my wife and myself, spent two nights in the Hotel Helicon, Keszthely, Hungary. The first one was on the way to Krakow, Poland and the second was on the way back. The hotel is nice, near by the Balaton lake, with beautiful surroundings, a lot of green vegetation and tennis courts. Rooms are big and comfortable, with a view to the lake. Dinner and breakfast were very good. During the first stay we saw the Festetic palace, which is so impressive, and the second time we walked along the lake. Service at the hotel was very good and we were satisfied, so I can recommend this hotel to the other guests.
