We were in Hévíz a city with natural peat-bedded warm-water lake, unique in Europe. Unfortunately, we proved to be unworthy of it, because we were found to be a Hungarian, intellectual family with small children, and not the expected, say, lower middle-class, older, preferably foreign, sample guest. The 3 stars proved to be a lot of things in the hotel, as did the holiday rating above 8, which was advertised as kid-friendly. Computer frozen on arrival. A long, growling line. Then a broken, closed garage door. Quarrelsome people, the arriving mechanic told my son that he was a dick hat. He then denied this to the reception manager, who said the thing wasn't even said, the mechanic was his friend, the normal man. So we don't, we lie. But he still waived the parking fee for one car. Anyway, we could learn to behave, if we paid 35,000 HUF per night and did not come here with a timeshare, we would appreciate this place: "It is not mandatory to come here, go to camping instead." Maybe he was right, because it doesn't happen in the tent that the couch in the quadruple room can't be opened, so there's no need to change rooms with half-sleeping little kids around 9 p.m., and my other son don't have to ask for another room because of the unbearable sewer odor emanating from the drain. Or the cleaning aunt doesn't explode into the little ones she's just put to sleep at two o'clock on a Sunday afternoon, screaming to take the trash. The conclusion must be drawn: never again Kalma hotel!…
The hotel itself need some renovations. TV are abt 15-20 years old. Location is good and abt 5 minutes from the lake. At lake complex the temperature inside the building was very cold /abt 20-22 degrees/and after swimming it was necessary to put on warm clothes and to drink warm tea. All discussions with administaration /information desk, administrator, manager/did not change situation even to do something with windows through which the cold air came inside and they had big holes which were possible to close if the temperature could not be increased by heating the building. All previous years at the same period the temperature inside was abt 27 degrees which was comfortable to feel yourself after swimming. This year we were forsed to go away after swimming in order not to catch the flew and at the end loose hours for visits which were prepaid at the beginning. Therefore if you are not interested to relax at cold building it is better not to buy 20 hours visit but to pay only for 10 hours and than to have a decision as what to do…
The hotel is good, in a very good place near the lake and in the centum too. The garage wery tight for the modern big cars. The restorant , is good in the price and value rate.. The rooms are very pleasant and wide
We arrived at night, to find out that the room are not at the hotel, that we are booked at the Villa. We went by night to find the villa which did not had any time of light or banner or anything so that you can find it easily. After some time we found it. In the room the covers of the bed were all teared up as you can see. We forgot about the wifi pass and we called the reception by pressing '9' as it was said in their information and no one answered. We called that number and the one in the reservation about 7 times. NO ONE ANSWERED! What if we had an emergency?! It wasn't very late in the night, around 23p.m. Dissapointing...
The hotel is close to the thermal lake so that you can walk there every day if you want. It is also very close to the bus station, so you can easily do trips to the neighborhood e.g. to Keszthely or Badacsony. We had a studio for 4/2 persons, which had two bathrooms that was excellent. The only negative thing was the old small CRT TV. There is air conditioning in the rooms, but it might be a bit laud. The personal was very kind and helpful. If you go there by car, be aware that parking in Hévíz is not easy and not free, so you should probably need to use the hotel's garage, which is very-very narrow, so it is not easy at all to park your car there. If you want to have a good dinner, you must visit the
Heviz is based round a very large thermal pool: water temperature in summer is up to 30 deg C and winter 23 deg C.You can borrow (free) a foam float from the hotel and just laze in the water (very slightly sulphurous) or sunbather in the well kept gardens. Town is very geared up for those with muscular and joint problems (and dental problems). Free access to Jacuzzi and sauna at hotel. Several good inexpensive restaurants with Italian or Hungarian food (also worth walking to attached town to restaurants with views over valley). Also food and music festivals on main streets when we were there.
very good location, no activities at all, average hotel. poor breakfast. No knowledge about what is going on in the near places. problems with parking were solved after lots of anger. The lake is great. very good dinning near the hotel
We felt very good, everybody from 4 to 64 years old.The apartment could fit 6 people comfortably our family of 6 people, the meal is resolved locally. The restaurant offers discounts to hotel guests. The thermal lake is very close to many shops in the pedestrian streets of the aparthotel.
The hotel was very well situated in the centre of town and a short walk from the lake. Nice clean room and very friendly staff. We used it as a base to see other places. Generally older visitors - I don't think we saw any children during our week stay and the place is virtually shut down after 8.00pm which is fine if you are looking for a relaxing time. Food at the restaurant was very nice.
Very pleased with large room and balcony, kitchenette, clean bathroom - would probably come again. Avoid dining here - it seems to cater to full board guests - 2 waitresses trying to cater for 50-80 people- everything seems micro-waved - creamy salmon pasta, milk and water sauce, goulash too salty, goulash soup greasy, possibly worst meal ever walking distance to the thermal lake -
