We spent here only one night and booked with breakfast, dinner, and garage. There were big pros and cons during our stay, starting with the parking system. Finding the garage is a challenge and parking could even more so, as the have tiny dark spots between walls and pillars (this, for a surcharge of EUR 12 per night).
We booked a higher room category located on the top floor. The room was spacious and the bathroom was alright, but walls and floors looked shabby with lot of stains and dirt that were there for who knows how long. It was not a matter of cleanliness, as the rooms were perfectly clean, but rather maintenance issues. Talking of which, the fan of the heating system kept turning on and off in about every few second, which was extremely annoying (especially in the night), therefore, we had to turn it completely off, resulting in a cool room and being exposed to all kind of noise from the corridor, as isolation is almost non-existing and we could hear every single word from outside, including the lobby music. The bed was comfy and the view was nice though.
The highlight, however, was the food. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious with plenty of selection (also for vegetarians).
Overall, the value fine, but compared to the price we paid, at best average. It is definitely not a 4-star niveau, but it is mainly due to the maintenance.
Location is also great (few minutes walk away from the thermal lake).

We've stayed here a few times in the last ten years. The furniture has not changed. The couch/bed was way passed it's prime and threadbare in spots. Lumpy and difficult to get comfortable. Plumbing is also noisy. Don't get a room close to the lifts, you'll hear everything people are saying. And they are charging for tea and coffee in your room. That's minus a star for me. Spa is still nice and it's clean. The food is agreeable but the staff have a habit of swooping down and taking plates and cutlery while you're eating. Very disruptive while you are eating and talking in my opinion.

Nicely arranged, very clean hotel. We missed utensils in the room, given that each room has its own kitchen. We were disturbed by the noise, as the TV was on all night in the next room and we could hear it. In addition, there is a road next to it and you can hear the noise of vehicles, so it is difficult to sleep. The food is pretty monotonous. A few days is fine, but if you are there all week, you get bored. The wellness center looks big on the photos, but it is quite small, as the hotel is very busy and crowded

Overall, it is a clean and proper hotel with good wellness facilities.
I particularly enjoyed the sauna room and the swimming pool. There could be some improvement for the food selection with healthier options.
Thank you to all the staff in the hotel who were welcoming and helpful.

Didn’t think much of the place but enjoyed our stay very much. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. We felt like we were right at home! Rarely do I get that feeling while traveling. Rooms are very clean and spacious. When going back home often memories of our stay here put a smile on my face.

RyanAir now fly to Sarmellek (FlyBalaton) airport. We needed somewhere close to the airport to stay to catch an early flight the next day. The town of Heviz and the Palace Hotel were picked at random.

The hotel was a pleasant surprise. It is a modern hotel (only a few years old) and centally located. Staff are very friendly and speak Hungarian, German and English (possibly more but I am not qualified to judge on that!) The decor in the communal parts is a bit odd. We'll let them get away with that. Rooms are nice and neutral, and come with a two ring electric hob!
The hotel has a medium sized pool with sauna and jacuzzi which is free to guests, very clean and virtually empty when we went.
Breakfast is German/ East European buffet style. Plenty for all palates.

The cost for a double room for one night was a very reasonable £50

I and my family find this hotel very pleasant and ideally situated. It is a short walk to Lake Heviz which is the world's 2nd largest thermal lake famous for its curative effects. There are also plenty of small boutiques around the area as well as cafes and good local restaurants. The charge of €8 a day for having the convenience of parking one's car in their garage and enjoying direct access to the hotel is for me absolutely acceptable especially if you compare it to the €25-40/day that is being charged in places like Warsaw, Prague, Ceska Krumlov or Bratislava. Now, there you can cry overpricing!! The hotel itself is well maintained and kept neat at all times. Rooms are large and clean, even equipped with a mini-kitchen that will allow you to cook in case you are getting tired of hotel or restaurant food. Just make sure to bring your own utensils! However, I never checked if the hotel will provide such items in case you make a request. There is also a wonderful spa with indoor pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna and they also offer various sorts of soothing massages and beauty or health treatments. As per the food, well it is a matter of taste! But so far, we have always been satisfied with the wide choice that they offer. Service is prompt and friendly and luckily for us, not once did we encounter any form of impoliteness or rudeness. I suppose, if one treats people, especially the service personnels with respect and friendliness, then you are bound to be treated tenfolds better! Being considered regular guests naturally goes with plenty of advantages since we are already familiar with the staff. But despite some of the negative reviews submitted here, I personally would still recommend Palace Hotel!

The first week of May 2007 we spent one week in the Palace Hotel in Héviz. (Palota in Hungarian). I have booked trough Internet directly on their site ([--] , which has the advantage (compared to other sites like Expedia) of getting a special package deal including half board and a free massage for the same price. Our experience was very positive. The equipment of the Hotel is up-to-date with a decent sized pool, Jacuzzi and sauna in the basement. The Hotel is right in the centre of Héviz, between the 2 main shopping streets and 200 meters from the Thermal Lake. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The only negative side is the small size of the bath room, which is in a real contrast with the generous size of the room. The food in the Restaurant was excellent, suitable for tasting Hungarian food but satisfying more conventional tastes as well. Underground car park is available and we found that the place was an excellent base for visiting the Balaton region and the eastern part of Hungary. Visiting the Thermal Lake is also a unique experience. We flew with Ryanair from Hahn in 1 hour 20 minutes. Excellent idea for a short break!
