Tripadvisor gives a Travelers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
The 65-room Centrum Hotel*** Superior is located in the historic city centre of Debrecen, only 50 metres from the Great Reformed Church and the main square, the venue of many cultural events, in the close vicinity of the most important attractions, office buildings and institutions.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The hotel is next to the cathedral, right in the city centre. Parking was easy, I parked outside, the receptionist checked my parking location and gave me an overnight chitty to place on the dashboard. Room was spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable, I slept like a log. My only complaint - as a former fire warden - is that fire exits are not clearly marked. I see others complained about noise, but I was there on a Saturday and heard nothing.

I can only reflect about the hotel in superlatives: recently renovated, spacious, clean rooms, friendly staff. 1. Location: absolut top! By the big church on the main square all the best restaurants are situated in 5-10 minutes walk. Forum Shopping Center also less than a km. 2. Rooms: renovated, very clean, well-equipped (safe, coffee/tea maker, amenities, free water bottle, free WiFi), spacious (big covered balcony), silent. Bathroom has also been renovated and kept in great condition. 3. Breakfast: fantastic, huge Sortiment of Hungarian traditional breakfast dishes also many types of bread, milch, etc. Unfortunately it was a bit cold in the breakfast room. 4. Parking: for free in front of the hotel. Value for money is 10/10 no doubt! All our extra wishes (early check-in, silent room, parking) was realised immediately and this Is for 80€ per night for 2 people with breakfast. Staff is friendly, fast and “invisible”. Would return anytime.

We picked the hotel due to its location, which was excellent especially around Christmas time with the Christmas market nearby. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops nearby and a nice walk out to the woods and recreation area. Speedy transfer from the airport also. The suite had a great layout suitable for our longer stay and the balconies would be fab for a relaxing evening in the summer. The room temperature upon arrival was far too hot, but we quickly worked out how to adjust it and the balcony doors tilt as well. Furniture was functional, the bedding could be improved, but it was room facilities were otherwise spot on. The female receptionists were friendly, efficient and spoke great English. Unfortunately, the male receptionist and what appeared to be Christmas holiday cover housekeeping services let down the overall standards. Housekeeping insisted to enter the suite early mornings around 9am shouting in Hungarian, did not hoover for 5 days and when I enquired with the receptionist, he stated that is normal, offered no apology and asked me ‘what do you want’, the answer to that is peaceful sleep, relaxation whilst I am on holiday and to be treated as a guest. Super location, practical rooms, some service issues!

I can't recommend this hotel to anyone. Working with hospitality needs some social skills and ambitions to give the guests good service. The staff of this hotel has nothing of it. It was more a scam like and lazy staff. Let's start with the worst. When we checked out, the receptionist invented a new fee. He charged us for changing towels. We stayed three nights and he charged us for three changes. We protested. There was no information about this on the website, on hotels.com or in the bathroom or when we checked in. The receptionist said that we could see it on the TV in the room. We didn't watch TV - most of the channels are on hungarian.
The attitude is also unfriendly. We had some things to celebrate and had a small bottle of champagne. We asked for a wine glass or a champagne glass. The portier said that they didn't have any glasses. One minutes walk from his chair there was a breakfast room with a bar and a lot of both wine glasses and champagne glasses.
The breakfast was a joke. They had some deep fried vegetables that were so greasy that we felt sick when we tried it. No lactose free yogurt and no seeds or oats... just some low cost coco pops and the cheapest musli. The bread was just white and dry. Breakfast is not worth the stay.
We had a hard time sleeping because of noisy drunk people outside the hotel-
But the worst was to see the portier when we checked out. He had no pride and didn't even try to cover his lack of service and hospitality.
I strongly recommend guests to not stay here. There are other nice hotels in Debrecen.

Corridors look like some sort of maze, rooms are very spacious, with large balconies and good amenities. Breakfast is fine for a short stay. Location is within the pedestrian area and everything else in town is within a walking distance.

The greatest thing about the hotel is its location, right in the center. It has large rooms, comfortable ( minus the mattress) , clean setup and nice. Great breakfast. The hotel does not have parking, there is public parking in front of it and based on a ticket they provided, we parked our car free on charge in front of the hotel.

Not only is this hotel right in the center of Catania. The hotel owners and staff were amazing!
I am from the US and left my phone in a taxi, and the staff went above and beyond to help me. They called the taxi service and were able to track down my phone. On top of that, the owner's kind son was in town from the states and graciously offered to take me to grab my phone. It was my first time overseas, and the hospitality I received in my short 2-day trip was phenomenal.
I highly recommend folks from out of country to stay here.

I came here for business and the rooms were new, comfortable, clean, spacious and adequate for working (good, large lit desk). The only thing I missed was a gym and a full time restaurant, HOWEVER for the price it is a great place and you couldn't ask for more. The breakfast has several options hence it can cater almost any taste. The location is also excellent.
Reception service was good and helped me booking a taxi and finding a Hungarian restaurant for lunch.
I would definitely go back.

What a great hotel, arrived and checked in and the person behind the desk was staff friendly and helpful and gave me a parking pass for my car. Room was spacious and clean and like most European hotels have 2 duvets, the Bed and pillows were quite comfortable, I opened the window as room got a little hot for me, but that wasn’t an issue. Location is perfect as right next to the towns square and a lot of places to eat and drink around the place. Only thing to remember there is no bar and restaurant/ Room service at hotel but they offer breakfast which has nice selection.

This hotel location was hard to find. I was going around with the car like 20-30 min without finding it. Anyway in the end I found it . You get free parking witch is good. The room was very nice and big , with balcony and also a good thing was that the room was very quiet. The breakfast was also wonderful. The minus is that the receptionist that was that night was sort of helpful but thou rude. I just felt that or maybe it is the was Hungarian people strangely behave when forced to speaking a foreign language. Or maybe they are just rude. Anyway I will come back .

Do not recall whether the Centrum Hotel had air-conditioning but please let me emphasise that it is a lovely hotel and well-priced. Whilst we were only in Debrecen for a day we look forward to returning one day and when we do we will book Centrum.
There are more places to choose from in the Debrecen area.
