I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights in a room with my 5 other friends, the room was clean and quite modern which was great. Some rooms don't feel as nice as others but I don't think that matters that much. Nice bar on the bottom floor and terrace at the top which was handy for prees. Amazing location which was walking distance to many of the great bars and clubs in Budapest. It was great value for money considering it was £35 for 3 nights and it had an amazing atmosphere. Only downside we found is that unless you leave the window open (which you wont want to do if your room is facing the courtyard), the room will smell bad pretty quickly. Overall a pretty good hostel for people looking to party (the noise goes on till the morning).

This place is not bad for price and the cleaners always come in and the bunk beds are actually decent and rooms look fresh. However, there are a few issues. 1. There are no hairdryers in the toilets and there’s only a few at reception and they’re always taken. 2. The DOORS slam shut so loud and my bed was right by the door, so it was horrendous. 3. The room was also FREEZING cold too. 4. It’s also not super social weirdly enough. The hostel does invite you to a boat party once a week and apparently does bingo, however, as the bar downstairs is so large and more party type it isn’t that intimate in a social setting. This was the only place where we didn’t really make friends with our hostel room and I can understand why. However, it definitely is a party hostel and we made friends regardless on nights out. Would probably return!

I had really high hopes after hearing all about this hostel but sadly the party vibe didn’t live up to it for me. It could be just the people in my room was boring. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice hostel, comfy beds, electronic lockers. Nice upstairs roof terrace with bar, swings and ping pong. Everyone was nice. About the noise, we were lucky in our room that we barely heard a thing. I’d probably give the hostel a second chance and return.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were allowed to leave our bags off prior to check-in. The room itself was pretty large with seven sets of bunkbeds but there were enough bathroom and shower facilities available that you were never left waiting. It was easy to make friends both in the room and at either the rooftop bar (which has swing seats and a table tennis table which is free to use) or the ground floor bar (which is much larger and is open to the general public. I was threatened outside of this bar but the hostel itself felt very safe and secure. The location of the hostel is also great. You're a reasonably short walk from a wealth of sightseeing locations and there's a public water font nearby at the synagogue which is great for refilling your water bottles (especially helpful for us as we visited during the heatwave). Overall, I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Budapest.

The hostel is huge and has a plethora of 12 person dorm rooms. The hostel is a bit dirty due to the guests partying each night. The washrooms seem to never be clean and abused constantly. There’s a huge bar downstairs everyone goes too that is great for groups but terrible for the solo traveller. You will not meet anyone here as it is too spaced out so recommend going to Hostel One if solo. Also for some wretched reason the place is full of mosquitoes in the winter which means they are breeding in the hostel and living off the guests, you will be covered in bites by morning..

The story I am going to describe took place between 12/7 and 12/9 in room 222. A group of 4 Spaniards (3 boys and 1 girl) stayed in the same room as mine and as a hostel of young people they arrived at 4 am talking loudly and making noise. So far a normal situation for a party hostel. The problem was when these young people brought two other people into the room, people who were not staying at the hotel, and started having sex in front of everyone. This happened for 2 nights. The three receptionists (who were at the reception on 12/09 in the morning), even though they were alerted by me about what was happening, while the fact was still happening, said they couldn't do anything. At the most, apologize to me. I believe that the hostel, like any other place, the least expected is respect. I would like to ask the hostel management to take a stand on what happened. Because, in addition to the lack of respect, the situation brought insecurity to users, as people outside the hostel had free access to my room. Grateful. Thalis Souza Aguiar

Response from , Owner at The Hive Party Hostel
Responded Dec 13, 2021
Dear Thalis. We have discussed it. I agree that this shouldn't have happened. But again, it is hard to deal with a situation retrospectively. If you came after (or during) the first time, or after (or during) the second time maybe we could have a chance to step in and help with the situation. But watching the movie for two times, letting us know only at check-out and blaming us for the whole story 2 days later is a little bit inconsistent my friend.

I will say, the location of the hostel was ideal, next to many bars and restaurants. However, our bathroom smelled fowl because the shower didn’t have a door and mold must have been growing. No towels. Just beware they the music is very loud until 6 am. Others in the hostel said their rooms did not have hot water. The price was pretty good so we didn’t expect it to be perfect, but wished for more.

Helpful staff, great rooftop bars it’s about £1.80 for a pint. Really close to loads of bars and clubs making it great for a holiday where you want to enjoy a nightlife, and for less than £10 a night you can’t complain, would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Budapest.
