The building looks bad but in reality the hostel rooms are new and perfectly organised. Every 3 rooms there is a kitchen for guests to use. Our room has 8 beds, a bathroom with toilet and sink, a bathroom with shower and sink. Breakfast is rich and buffet style. The staff is very kind. Everything clean. Truly a pleasant experience.

I got to the entrance of this hostel quite late at night, and had to press a buzzer to be let in. The entrance is quite dark, and scary. I was not sure where to go, the lift was very small, and I was not sure which floor to go to, so I took the stairs. I was checked in quickly, and was asked to pay 5 euros as a deposit for my key card. My room was up a few sets of stairs with no lift. There was a fully functioning kitchen, and a seating area, as well as 2 computers, right outside my dorm. There was not enough shower rooms, or toilets between the amount of dorms on the level I was on. The doors to the dorms did not close properly. The hostel provides drinking tours etc. I was woken each night, due to the noise of others coming back drunk late at night using the kitchen area, directly outside the dorms, to continue drinking, eating and chatting. The breakfast was nice. I asked reception a couple of questions, which they didn't seem to know the answer to, and was quite rude about. On check out there was no where I could leave my luggage, and was told to leave my luggage in the reception area, at my own risk. I never used the metro once, as everything I wanted to see was within walking distance. There was lots of food places to eat nearby.

We had a trip to Budapest at the end of May in this year. I read good comments about the hostel so I was sure I made the right choice. Adviced my friends Avenue Hostel for a one-day overnight stay. There were three of us, all three female tourists, and we were going to book a bed in a room. We needed a signed document (invoice) from the hostel for our trip. We made the reservation from the hotel's website and chose the same room. I wrote to whatsapp and at the same time via email to the hostel administration to send us a confirmation document regarding the order and payment. It lasted almost more than ten days , which was to be solved in one day, I had to write many times and request the document. I received late responses, and sometimes they couldn't find our orders due to confusion in their system. Finally, they got our documents in order.
We arrived at the hostel, it turned out that the reservation shows different rooms in the system. Despite the fact that we made all three order in the same room and mentioned the lower bed bunk, we could not prove anything. The guy at the reception called Nika (or Niko) was very rude, unpolite and said the same things over and over again. "Please do not disturb our guests, do not ask anyone to change their bed. "It was a very discriminatory attitude, disrespectful behaviour towards other guests. Instead of acknowledging the messed up situation in their own reservation system, the reseption just continued to be rude. The lady next to him just watched calmly, did not intervene in the situation. We could not complain to the hostel administration because we did not have much time. The system did not show the notes attached to the order on the website, we could not prove it later.
This was an unpleasant experience we had with the hostel staff.
Although the hostel is located in the center, the window of the room faced the highway. The hostel itself was very noisy. It was impossible to sleep comfortably. The floor looked unclean because the shower rooms were entered with shoes.

The food is very terrible, breakfast is poor. Bathrooms are not sufficient for all the people in the hostel and they’re not 1 for a room, but 1 for a floor. Poor cleaning. Noisy hostel, food in the room with people chewing all the time, poor hygiene, windows are always shut and you can hear people sneezing and blowing their nose all the time (not good for corona virus, considering they don’t even check your green pass). Needed some water but couldn’t buy it cause they don’t accept cards, cash only. So we had to wait until the morning. Don’t come here!!!

I stayed in a private room. Towels were included in the room, which was nice. Interestingly, the set-up is similar to an apartment. So, despite having my own room I shared a kitchen/common area and bathroom with other dorm rooms. I don't know if any of these dorm rooms had ensuite bathrooms, but there were only 2 bathrooms in the common area, and I frequently found myself waiting to use it. The building has a very vintage elevator. Some other people were freaked out by it, but I thought it was cool. Since it is an older building there is no A/C. The first day it was almost 80 degrees F so it was a little warm during the day but at night it was fine with the windows open. However, during the summer the heat might be an issue. Breakfast is free and I'd say its decent. I've definitely stayed at other hostels with more meager offerings. There are plenty of transportation (bus, tram, metro) options right outside the hostel. Same goes for food/restaurants. I wouldn't say this is a full-on party hostel but there did seem to be a lively vibe in the bar area during the evening. There were also some noticeably older folks staying here.

I stayed couple of days and the hostel is very well located, good enviroment to meet people if you are alone. I was in a hostel without vibe and came to this one, very good decision, good breakfast and facilites quite good. The staff is very helpful ancsa the girl from the reception was very patient and solve all my doubts and questions, The couple of volunteers from Chile are super nice too, as well they help you and give assistance if they are around,definetely i will come back to this hostel if i have the chance.

Though the rooms are hot, the service was great. Met a lot of friends and people to explore the city with during the free walking tour with kunar. Such a great experience, highly recommend taking a tour with him as it helps make the hostel experience so much better. Very fun atmosphere, would come back!

Kumars free walking tour was really incredible. Me and my boyfriend went on it today and he took us round many historic monuments such as the parliament building. He gave us lots of useful information we wouldn’t have got on our own and it was a great group of people and atmosphere. There were lots of laughs along the way and you could tell he had put lots of effort and thought into it! Definitely recommend !!!

Out of many hostels I have been all around the world, sure thing this is one of my favourite. It’s well organised, clean, good location. Above all, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. In particular Oleh and Petra have been super helpful and kind, ready to answer all our questions, and figure out for us if they didn’t know. A massive thank you to you both!

From what I know the 4 beds Ensuite bedroom is € 17.60 per person per night. They have some Double room with double bed. But the price is not disclosed. My guess is it could be around €20.00 euros per person. The Bathroom is next to your room.
Best to book the 4 beds ensuite, and you and your partner, could just be the only people in the room. The price will still be only €17.60 euros for each of you. Checking is from 14.00 pm and checkout is 11.00 am. Breakfast is free from 7.30 am till 11.00 am.
