Due to a family death I informed Vila Korall that I can not honor my presence at the date I made the reservation. I informed Villa Korall about the unfortunate happening 3 days before check in. First time I requested the money back, after the change of the reservation date considering the unfortunate event. The manager's response was NOT categorical with the host's mention that "I had to anticipate such events and that I should to pay the penalty fee" which equaled with the entire stay (although I asked for the change of the reservation to another available date) It seems to me the immoral and inhuman attitude of the host, considering it was an unexpected unfortunate event. It also seems to me immoral and immoral that I pay money for services which did not provide them (the money has been withdrawn from the card) Avoid the Korall Villa!!!

Response from korall, Vezető at Villa Korall

Dear Mr. Ovidiu, You chose the prepayment / non-refundable condition on Booking.com, when you made your reservation. We were very sorry about the sad situation that happened in your family, I even wrote to you two letters about that, so I would not call that inhuman or categorical. I also said, that we must keep the online system's rules what you were informed about previously. During the 20 years, we had a few guests, who had the same reason to cancel their reservations, but they all understood what this rule means. There can not be any exception written along this condition, otherwise every guests would use that and this condition would mean absolutely nothing. If we refunded the prepaid / non-refundable amount to your account, we should have refunded to all the guests in the past, not just for you, otherwise we should have been afraid, that someone will write an unfair comment again, if they have the same reason, as yours. You can not state, that you cancelled your booking 3 days prior to your arrival, that is not late for us. This is a small guesthouse with 7 non-smoking rooms only and guests book our rooms in advance most of the time, so it can be difficult for us to resell them in the last minute, when we rejected guests before, saying, that the rooms are already booked. I am really sorry, but this condition you chose speaks for itself, we rejected a group reservation because of your booking and above all, the guesthouse is not ours, it is a rent, so I am very sorry, but for us it is a must, that we have to sell our rooms and keep our reservation conditions, especially in the high season. We are a guesthouse, we are selling rooms, but the online systems would not allow us to upload prices without reservation conditions. You had the possibility to choose a condition online with a free cancellation possibility, but you did not. You must have considered it first, when choosing and booking the prepayment / non-refundable room's price, but now you are blaming us, that we have such conditions. I would call that unfair. Many hotels and pensions have the same condition and usually it belongs to their cheapest prices, but only guests can choose it, we can not force anybody. You also tried to change the dates by not paying for the new reservation, but this is just shows, that you only care about your situation, not ours. We hope, that many guests, as during all these years, will still choose our bargain prices for a good service we always try to give and keep for our standards, and just because they choose a condition we must keep, they will understand what they booked and not avoid us because of their own choice. Thank you for your understanding! Best regards, Szilvia Aradi

Dear Reader, I have been coming to Villa Korall for the past several years as my two daughters live in Budapest with their mom/my ex-wife. To cut the long story short - I was very careful to select a place where I could come frequently and bring my kids so that all of us would feel welcome and basically at home. Villa Korall headed by Szilvia Aradi and diligently supported by her husband Jeno is exactly such a place. My daughters do feel at home here. Moreover, Szilvia speaks perfect English, which is not to be disregarded at all when one visits Hungary. Moreover, I started coming due to family reason, however continued on business, recommended it to many friends and couples who were all very satisfied. To summarize: peaceful, quiet, comfortable, cute, clean, relaxing, warm, well-connected to the city center with a very professional manager more than willing to provide her helping and capable hand to tourists regardless of their country of origin.

This hotel was a great buy. It is not a fancy hotel, so don't expect a 5-star hotel. It is clean, simply furnished and quiet. I chose it because we needed to be at the bus stop the next morning at 6SM and this was one of the closest we could find with a good rating. It is only about 6 bus stops from the main inter-city bus terminal. I am so happy we chose this hotel. When we entered we felt right at home, as if we were visiting a relative. The manager of the hotel, Szilvia Aradi , was more than helpful. She helped us to navigate the metro/bus system with a few sentences. Her explanations were worth the price of the hotel. She couldn't have been more cordial. You can get to the castle area (Buda) in about 25 minutes, and into Pest in about 30 minutes by public transportation. Our room had a balcony and it was just lovely to sit out and enjoy the quiet. After a long day of sight-seeing, it felt like a haven. The area around the hotel was residential, so you could just walk around as if you were in the suburbs.

Villa is in quite neigborhood. It`s green and peacefull, lika a suburb. Extremely helpfull host. Comfortable bad, fast wifi on the second floor. Great to get to sleep and to rest. Away from city rush. Location is a bit far from city center but that´s not a minus. Itś well trasport conected. Bus station - Frankhegy utca (bus 8E and 139) is few minutes from the property. With bus 8E you can go on two sides - 8E runs to Kelenfold (6 stops) where it ends and where you can change for M4 or take trams 19 (Buda) or 49 (continue to Pest) where you can change for tram 2 to downtown or take ride with bus without changes (opposite drive from mentioned) but it takes too long. Or take bus 139 to Szell Kalman ter where you can change for M2 or take trams 4/6 and change for tram 2 if needed. We asked room with the balcony and got it on the 2nd flor. Rooms on 1st and 2nd floor have balcony. It was quite. If you want peace, choose room on the last floor. If you don`t like stairs, you can ask host to help you with the lagguage. If you don`t have chairs in the balcony, you colud ask for them from the garden. They ordered new ones for the balconies recently, but they haven't arrived by the time we checked out.
