We had a great time at the 1st. The staff was friendly and helpful and we very much enjoyed that security was very good. Everything was very old and nice and the hostel had a clean style and just seemed very clean. The location was good, because it was very close to the center, however some monuments are far, but it´s something you can live with because it´s not difficult using public transport in Budapest and besides you're not bothered by traffic while you're sleeping, so the location is not so terrible after all

At first we had some difficulties finding the hostel as the sign was very small and the reception was also rather hard to locate in the building. But when we get there the receptionist was extremely nice and friendly and willing to give tips where to go and show some places from the map. We had booked a double ensuite, but me and my friend actually got a much bigger room - actually we were surprised to get a separate little studio appartment with 2 beds dowstairs and 2 more up and even a little kitchen with cooking facilities and a fridge. The building and everything in the appartment had seen better days but it sure had some charming character and we are talking about hostel accommodation anyway, not a 5* hotel. Bathroom was ok too and there were enough hot water. The only thing bothering us was a moldy smell in the room. The place did smell a bit like a cellar and it was very noticable when you got in. But for 4 nights stay it was not too big of a deal.

Excellent staff, great location. The best hostel I've ever stayed in in its price range. Our flight was horribly messed up by the carrier, but they were so prompt that I could arrange for an extra night on short notice from the airport before arrival in Budapest. Something different at breakfast every day, and a chance to talk to people from
