Very nice clean and organized hotel. We paid a little bit maybe because it was New Years. Excellent breakfast. However, the hotel is not very close to the center. Nearby there is a square with a few places to eat and shop
Stayed here for 4 nights with the Missus and found it be a decent base for exploring the beautiful city of Budapest. Check-in was reasonably smoooth, with the reception staff being multi-lingual, and like all of the staff in the hotel they were friendly and efficient and eager to help in any way. The room itself was quite large, clean and warm with al the usual amenities you would expect like tea/coffee makinfg facilities, room safe, flatscreen TV and nice spacious bathroom with a decent shower. There was also a very reasonably priced mini-bar too. Breakfast is pretty good. Good cold continental selection while the warm selctionis pretty good, it offers weird combinations like scrambled egg and rataouille for example. But it is overal standard stuff, and more than adequate. There is a hotel bar which is decent enough to sit in and have drink late after exploring. Location wise it is not too bad. It is situated next to the Corbin Plaza shopping mall and surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. Its is about a 15 minute walk to downtown Pest which I did not mind as i like walking everywhere, but for those who don't there is excellent tram, bus and metro links very close by. All-in-all we would definetly stay here again when back in Budapest. It has all you need as base to explore. Would also like to add that my wife has to use a wheelchair sometimes as she has MS, and this hotel is very wheelchair accessible.…
Hello, I would like to share my experience of hotel stay. Location is very comfortable, there are mall, supermarket, restaurants close to the hotel and from center not so far away. Breakfast is great, rooms clean, parking across the street for 14 euro per day. About negative now... Money have been stolen from my jacket, which remained in the room all the time, I discovered it only when arrived at home. I have tried to contact a few times, and reply was that: “We will contact you after some investigation”, but still nobody contact me, that’s why I leave this review. So, free advice, if you decide to stay in this hotel, all valuables leave in the safe.…
Husband and I stayed here 10th January to 13th. It’s a little way out of the city centre which we wanted as love walking-this meant it was pretty quiet, which for us is a bonus. We stayed in room 413 which looked out over the garden-very clean, very comfortable, with everything we needed including tea/coffee facilities and a free safe. Check in when we arrived was smooth and simple and the staff were friendly, particularly considering our inability to speak Hungarian. We stopped for a drink at the hotel bar-great service, incredibly good prices, and the option to either pay now or put it on your room bill. We did visit it a few times! The mini bar in the room is charged for but again is incredibly well priced. We don’t normally use them but actually did this time as so cheap. It stocks water, juices, soft drinks, beers and a couple of snacks. House keeping do a great job and even leave you a little note to explain why the mini bar etc hasn’t been re-stocked when you leave the do not disturb sign on. No need, but a nice touch. Breakfast was great-good selection of coffees from the machine, lots of hot and cold, sweet and savoury options. An excellent way to set yourself up for a full day of sight seeing. Didn’t try the closest restaurants or bars as they seemed like chain places where we wanted good authentic Hungarian places, but there did seem to be a lot nearby. We instead headed more into the centre. Even on check out the staff were helpful, more than willing to store our luggage whilst we went off exploring on our last day. Really can’t fault the place, we don’t have a single complaint. Would definitely return if staying in Budapest again-which we will one day, it’s a wonderful city. …
We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this one is certainly not 4 star, 3 star would be pushing it! We booked through BlueSeaHolidays who classed it as 4 star, indeed the person we spoke to highly recommended it which does not say much for this operator, we would hesitate to use them again. Budapest was lovely and I would highly recommend the hop-on, hop-off bus as a great way to get your bearings and then visit places of interest, take the 2 day ticket. Our private transfer did not turn up to take us back to the airport and we could not contact them on the telephone numbers, including the emergency one! The firm was called Holiday Taxis, never use them! The taxi to the airport cost us £27 and when I requested an explanation and compensation from BlueSea they blamed the private transfer, did not fight our corner, even though we paid them for the private transfer. We finally got our £27 back but no refund for the transfer which did not turn up nor an explanation for the lack of contact!…
I could go on and on and on how bad this place is but basically PLEASE give it a wide berth. Our room 406 was nice comfortable and clean and the breakfast was nice. Let's start with the negatives. The hotel staff are generally rude and dismissive. The only staff who deserve any praise is a young guy with blond hair at the reception, he was very kind and always willing to help us you should have more staff like him! The reception staff was very rude and specifically the man with the glasses. We were a group of 10 people and we were sitting at the lobby and we kindly asked him too many times for some drinks but without any response. Finally, after 30 minutes waiting, he dropped our drinks at the bar without even serving us at the lobby , where we were. Later on, when we paid by cash this guy for our drinks, i asked him of the receipt and tried to explain him that we need it because he billed us room charge and the bill of the room was prepaid by the travel agency, he answered us disrespectfully "i don't care why you need the receipt". Unbelievable behaviour for a receptionist of a 4*hotel. Also, we asked for a dinner and they informed us that the kitchen is available only in the mornings. It is ridiculous. You are a 4* superior hotel and you can not provide dinner. Also, the spa (sauna) was out of service. Furthermore, on christmas day as we were having breakfast we noticed the ladies (except of one young girl) being very rude when we wished them Mary Christmas and they ignored us without even answering. Besides, the door of the kitchen was always open, so we could see them eating during their service. Moreover, they came during our breakfast to have their coffee with their cups and they were talking and making face expressions... we felt so uncomfortable. The last day of our stay i went to reception to return the key of the room. The lady asked me to arrange the bill (taxes) of other rooms and i informed her that our leader had already payed the taxes the first day. As you can understand this is a hotel with unprofessional and rude staff.I can understand that during Christmas days the hotel is too busy and the staff is tired, however i can not accept this bad behaviour. I am working many years in 5* star hotels in Greece, i would recommend you to visit us so we could train you what's the meaning of the words hospitality and kindness!…
The City Inn was around a 15-20 minute walk to the City centre and the Christmas markets. The room was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was good. The Staff were very helpful and took their time to explain how to get around the city.
When we arrived first impressions were good. Staff friendly and informative. We were in a superior room, I wouldn’t say it was superior but it was big enough, the double bed was two separate twin beds pushed together with single quilts. Beds quite hard but the room was ok. The mirrors were dirty and the bathroom could have been cleaner but it was sufficient for a few nights. Breakfast was quite basic but again sufficient for a few days. If you are walking to the centre it’s about 2.3 k however there is metro located not too far. We did not use this as we are young and walk. If you want a more central location then I’d get one that is in the centre as this is so central as advertisers.
We stayed here for four nights in a superior room which was very nice...clean....good shower...plenty of hot water etc! Plenty of room and two large beds. Tea/coffee and shower gels/shampoo provided. We found plenty of choice for breakfast...usual cereals.....meats/cheese.....also eggs and scrambled eggs...sausages...juices.....and machines for coffee/teas etc. Girls were always making sure that the food was topped up. Next to reception was a small bar area where you could enjoy a drink in the evenings. Located next to a modern shopping mall...which if you walked through took you to the nearest metro station....Corvin-negyed which was one stop from Calvin where you could catch the hop on hop off red bus! I have problems walking...but it only took me twenty minutes to walk from the hotel to Calvin. Having done some research before our trip I discovered that if you were over 65 and an E.U. citizen public transport was free in Hungary....so all our metro trips were free!...at least one good point for still being in the E.U.! Also outside our hotel was Corvin plaza where there were quite few places to eat.....we ate at Kompot bistro three times...lovely food....and lovely staff! The reception staff at the hotel were always pleasant and helpful....my husband loved trying to speak a few phrases in Hungarian ....which I think they appreciated. We emailed the hotel to organise a taxi transfer from the airport and then again for out return. I would definitely stay here again if we revisited.…
Great little hotel this, comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean. The hotel puts on a fine spread for breakfast and has a pleasant little bar area for an evening drink. Its conveniently situated, 5 minutes walk, for the tram in to the central area, theres a modern shopping mall and some nice local restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
