So as I write this .. it is my last night in budapest and staying in hotel bara.. yes doesn't look appealing from outside but the receptation is clean and welcoming and the rooms are tiny but good enough for what u use them for sleeping and clean .. it's only a 5minute bus journey to centre and bus stop...

It's a shame when you pass a hotel look across hoping it's not the one you're in until the cab turns and pulls up in front of it. The front looks a little dirty and shabby and it's very dimly lit. You head into the green and beige reception area which seems okay apart from the fraying green leather sofas...

It was mid of August (high season) when me and my son travelled from Vienna to Budapest where we booked in Bara hotel for two nights. Unfortunately it was a disappointment to us. The room given was in 1st floor, overlooking through metal bars (ground floor from that side) to the very noisy (heavy traffic) high street in front of...

It was my second time at Hotel Bara and for the price I paid for 2 nights it was enough for me and my boyfriend. The room temperature was perfect and the receptionist who made the check in was really nice and polite. The fact that the minibar was empty didn't bothered us but the only thing that we requested...

It was a last minute booking, I was given a room in the new part of the hotel. The room was nice, big, fresh linnen and towels, new bathroom with huge shower. The breakfast offers a variety of food so I liked it a lot. The cost of garage is 10€ per night which is a lot, considering that the...

The only merit of this hotel is it's location in Buda. Parking in garage costs 10 euros per night! Btw, parking on the streets in the weekends is free, so there is no need to pay too much. Breakfast was various, no complaints about that. But the room was wet. First we thought that sheets and duvet covers are wet...

I stayed here for 3 nights in August and I had a really pleasant time. Staff were friendly and helpfull, my room was clean and tidy. The city centre was very close, I could reach it easily. Weather was great for my stay, so I really had an amazing time in Budapest :)

If you set your expectations according to the price you pay for the room, no disappointment will occur. It is quite cheap for its location. The city center is at 15 min walking. They should improve their breakfast menu. If you need a hair dryer, ask at the reception.

Felt unsafe, staff unfriendly... One was quite perverse! Bedrooms were ok but quite a walk 😕 wouldn't stay again. Stayed for a week. Wouldn't stay again unless it was for a night. (Easy taxi ride from airport so over night stay before moving to a nicer hotel is a definite option for me in future)

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
