This is a basic hotel in a good location, was busy over the weekend, need to get down for breakfast to ensure you get a full selection of the available food and drink. The staff are friendly and helpful with some good advice.
The location is very practical in the city centre, there is a bus shuttle service from the airport to Kalvin Square, and Kalvin House is just round the corner. Therefore, I often booked the hotel when visiting Budapest and the nearby university. Many places of interest and restaurants within walking distance. However, the service has declined considerably: no water in the room, no air condition or heating available during the days of my stay, bathroom equipment very basic, the girls of the room service made very loud noise early in the morning in order to get the guests out of their room, the breakfast buffet was pretty basic, too. I know they could do better (they did before), perhaps the management has changed?
We were here as part of our honeymoon to Europe and really enjoyed this portion of our trip. The room was clean, spacious, well laid out, huge ceilings and a small balcony which was shared with another room. The bathroom was large, beds comfy although felt hard at first. This is located in a great area close to lots of restaurants, grocery stores, a quick walk away from Gellert baths. Breakfast was okay, just a typical breakfast, lots to eat. The staff was all very helpful and great to deal with, even provided a takeaway breakfast for us as we were leaving early in the morning! Thank you....
A basic hotel. The location is good - very near the river on Pest side - and the staff were friendly. We had a good-sized room but the furnishings are old. Breakfast was a bit chaotic. There are not enough seats/tables for all the guests so people were waiting and some items (coffee, bread, cheese, ham) were not replenished very quickly.
The room was really huge and very cozy. The inventory was like "a visit at grandma's" and we felt like "home". Breakfast was perfekt and the staff was really nice. Only the bathroom seemed a bit old fashioned and would need a renovation. The guesthouse is located a two minutes walk away from the market hall on Pest side, and five minutes from Danube River.
