We stayed for three nights, with relation, before embarking on a European River Cruise and found the hotel to be a high quality, impressive with excellent facilities for guests. Would recommend strongly. Only real issue is the housekeeping staff's lack of understanding of English causing confusion about requests.

As a surprise trip for my birthday, my partner did very well in choosing this hotel.Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us, we weren't due to check in until 2pm, we arrived at 1pm and were in our room within half an hour. The only issue with our room was that it smelt... More

Lovely clean rooms.Excellent breakfast. The hotel is very central. You can walk to the Danube river in about 20 minutes. If you don't want to walk, there are taxis just outside the hotel. The hotel staff are very helpful.Especially the Concierge. He can give you information of how to see the city and where to eat.

The Corinthia Hotel is ideally located if you don't want to be right in the middle of the hub-bub but close enough to walk everywhere. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, particularly in the small bar. The rooms are generous and well decorated, very clean with lovely toiletries. The spa and pool is beautiful, a work of art. Breakfast... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here at the beginning of August and it was amazing start to finish. We came to stay for his 30th Birthday and every effort was made to make us both feel special. We were upgraded to a Junior suite which was lovely. I had ordered the birthday package which a bottle of wine and cake... More

We have been in this amazing hotel for three nights. Everything was perfect: breakfast (where a chef was cooking your breakfast right in front of you), the room, the environment. We will definitely come back here.

We stayed back in January - middle of winter. We booked directly with the hotel on a Winter Invitational package which included a 72hr Budapest Card and on arrival we were upgraded to a Deluxe King. It was almost the size of our flat, ha! The room was lovely, the bed was v.comfy and we overlooked one of the annexes... More

I stayed at Corinthia last july with my wife and my daughter. We booked a very spacious suite on the new building, just adjacent to the original building. The suite was very large, had a kitchen, a nice living room and two separate rooms, each with it own bathroom. Outside there was a courtyard. The hotel is at walking distance... More

Very helpful staff, especially the concierge staff. Beautiful lobby and public areas; the lobby bar is very comfortable and lovely. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous. You MUST see the Royal Spa -- it is photo-worthy. Unfortunately, I needed to take advantage of their laundry service and everything came back in perfect condition. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.... More

First time to Budapest, loevely place for a short trip lots of history and old buildings mixed with modern. Walking in the city was nice didn't feel intimidating like some cities. Booked a hotel car to pick us up from the airport. Our plane was 3 hours late taking off and even though I let the hotel know the driver... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
