In my (somewhat limited) experience, some so called 'luxury' hotels are anything but in the way that they treat their guests, the Corinthia Budapest is a real exception to this. From the first moment of arrival through to departure, everything went brilliantly. The staff were hugely helpful (without being patronising), the room was stunning and the breakfast was perfect. This...

Stayed only 2 nights. Good location on the edge of central Pest. Impressive facade and tasteful decor. Guest book in the lobby open at a page signed by Josephine Baker about 90 years ago! Comfortable, spacious room with tea and coffee facilities. Excellent breakfast.

Had the pleasure of a stay in this hotel, which was good, but could have been better if the air conditioning in our suite could have been turned down. The weather was unusually warm for March, around 22 degrees, but the room couldn't be cooled as the air conditioning appeared to be centrally controlled, and was very stuffy all night....

There is very little not to like about this place: nice public areas, good rooms – especially if you avoid the ones looking into the courtyard so you don't really get any fresh air – excellent restaurants and bar and a very good breakfast. The spa is pretty good too, with saunas, steam room and a decent-sized swimming pool. What...

Centrally located in the heart of Budapest, walking distance to everything. We booked an Executive Room and it was probably the best hotel stay I have ever had. Exceptional service from the staff and they even noticed we were celebrating a birthday so provided complimentary bubbles in our room. Hotel helped us book a river cruise and we're happy to...

Stunning 5* Hotel, gorgeous rooms and luxurious Spa! The service was second to none, from the moment we were greeted at the door, to our transfer to the Airport, each and every Staff member exceeded expectations. Special mention to Zachary from the Atrium Brasserie, he was very helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous stay....

This is the second Corinthia hotel I have stayed in and I was definitely not disappointed. The rooms were nice , the Spa was also very nice, good food and pleasant staff. The location was relatively OK for my business dealings and would definitely stay there again. It was also value for money.

This is my fourth stay here over 10yrs. Still a stunning, graceful, meticulously restored old hotel with attention to detail. I attended a conference and was more than impressed with the food and facilities. Breakfast is expensive but to be honest you can eat pretty much everything that any European might wish to eat in any quantity and very high...

Beautiful hotel situated in the heart of Budapest. The room was perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful. We loved the spa facilities and we treated ourselves to some treatments which were amazing. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna was a great place to spend Sunday morning. It's a very classy hotel, and saying that, the extras like drinks and breakfast are...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
