Stayed for 3 nights a few days before Christmas. The building is grand, imposing and yet warm and tranquil. A beautiful Christmas tree stood at the top of the grand staircase and there was a tiny gift cabin made from ginger bread at the bottom. The staff are extremely professional and every one of them will greet you as you...

We had a room on the Executive level which had its own reception and check in. The Executive Lounge was open all day and provided all kinds...

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip. This is an imposing hotel on one of the main avenues of Budapest. It is very central and close to all the Budapest main attractions. Close by a vast amount of bars and restaurants can be found. At the reception, the staff is very nice and efficient, and will provide any kind of...

I can't stress how amazing this hotel is. Our executive room allowed us entry to the lounge where complimentary drinks & snacks were available all day long. The hotel oozes class & style & the staff without exception are the best. Location is perfect, with the tram running past the door & the hop on/off bus just round the corner....

Great hotel. Well worth upgrading to executive rooms. This gives access to the executive lounge with free breakfast, drinks and snacks all day. Staff are extremely helpful. Hotel rooms spotless. Spa is top class . Didn't try the restaurants apart from breakfast on the executive lounge so can't comment.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
