This really was a beautiful and impressive hotel, very well located, in the heart of Budapest. Our room was spacious, especially by European standards, elegant and very well appointed, with a wonderful, marble-clad bath and shower. There was plenty of hot water, great water pressure and luxurious bath products and lotions. We couldn’t have asked for better. The public areas... More

We stayed for 4 nights. Room was comfortable, quiet, with everything that you needed. The location is central, and were able to walk to the majority of places on the Pest side...and if not the tram was just outside the door and the underground a couple of blocks away. The concierge staff was very helpful in arranging tickets to the... More

Great hotel in every way possible. Lovely spa area, even if on the small side. Good restaurant and bar. Lovely champagne breakfast (a bit expensive, so perhaps not for every day, but try it at least once). Nice rooms and professional staff. Can't fault it really.

Stayed for 3 nights. Comfortable beds with good facilities. Beautiful foyer. We were on the 3rd floor - executive wing and the room overlooking a square...nothing much. Being in a facility that may have older plumbing system, you will find that the water temperature changes when someone flush when you are showering : ) Not a big issue. Quite a... More

The Corinthia Hotel is well located on a tram line, very walkable to tourist venues in Budapest, on the Pest side. The rooms are air conditioned and very comfortable. Access to the hotel's spa makes for a very special treat after a day of sight seeing. The building itself is very beautiful with a long and interesting history. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had a great stay at the corinthia hotel. We booked directly through the hotel website and opted for an executive room (with access to mezzanine floor where you can have breakfast as well as various snacks and drinks throughout the day at no extra charge). These facilities were excellent as were the staff. Our room was... More

The service here was fantastic, especially the concierge. The breakfast however is an eye watering 29 Euros! The Chess restaurant nearby does an equally good one for 12. Lunch and dinner meals are a bit expensive, but closer to being value for money, Very good location on the tram and not far from the metro.

This was a trip to Budapest to attend the F1 race at Hungaroring. The Corinthia hotel is a beautiful hotel that has a bunch of things to do within itself like pools, spa, 2 restaurants and bars. Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
