Wonderful accommodations while in Budapest. Old world charm with bright updated amenities. Great breakfasts to start the day, courteous staff, a pleasure to be a guest at this historic hotel. Transit or taxi at front door and for those who don't mind a stroll well located to explore Pest.

We chose this hotel because the Budapest Eyewitness Guide says that it "oozes class." The staff is friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, and the location is ideal for sightseeing. If you stay on an Executive Floor you'll also have access to dinner on its mezzanine, which is a quiet oasis in a very busy city. It's about two...

We were at this facility for two nights. Unfortunately there was smell of sewage in washrooms. Smell back firing from old drains i guess. We changed the room and still smell persisted. It brought a bad taste to our precious vacation. Not recommended. There was also wifi problems. So looking at the preciousness of a general tourists vacation, who plans...

Very friendly and helpful staff at all times and a fantastic Spa facility. It was easy to walk to the main attractions and close enough to the river. Lovely hotel with a feel of old beautiful Europe. A 5 star hotel.

Stayed for five nights and we loved the hotel. It is stunning, peaceful, has lovely rooms and friendly staff. The spa is also amazing and a welcome thing to do after busy days sightseeing. Location wise, it was only half an hour to walk to the river and main sight seeing areas, but there were trams right outside if you...

I'm not entirely sure if the hotel can substantiate the implied connection to Wes Anderson's film 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' but this has the history and even if the Corinithia incarnation is a massive rebuild from a decade or so ago; there is still feel of Europe of a past age... perhaps most with the fabulous pool / spa complex....

We have previously stayed at two other Corinthia Hotels, in Prague and in Lisbon. From our first visit we loved the buildings, the classy atmosphere, the polite, friendly and efficient staff and service. We confirm that impression. Beautiful bed linens, spacious Bath with tub & shower and, very rare to find, efficient ventilation. Daily turn down service with a little...

My husband and I arrived in Budapest yesterday for a cruise starting tomorrow and decided to book our own hotel instead of going along with the "pre-cruise" plans the cruise offered. The Corinthia is beautiful and their staff is kind and attentive. We booked an executive room and it is two large rooms with separate dressing area, full bath and...

Everything about this hotel is what it should. Great comfy rooms, fab bed, clean and well furnished. The staff are super friendly, greeting you with a smile each time you walk in. Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
