We couldn't have been booked into a better hotel if I had to choose one myself. From the minute we crossed the threshold, we were in a different world, one of luxury and opulence. Every iconic structure could be seen from the hotel, so we saw them all in all kinds of light, a photographers dream. The hotel was perfectly... More

You can walk to many of the important sight-seeing locations from the Intercontimental. The rooms are good, but not impressive. We have been in better, at much lower rates. The daily buffet breakfast selection is very good: beverage service was slow. Concierge service met the high expectations of a first class hotel. We enjoyed staying at the Intercontinental, but it... Just spent magnificent four days in Budapest which is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The trip was made perfect by our stay in the Intercontinental. The view over the Danube is enchanting with a perfect view of the river and the magnificent buildings in Buda. What a romantic setting at night. As for the hotel itself, it... More

Rebuilt during the previous regime and known under a different name (Forum), this is one of the best placed hotels in Budapest. The present café has an beautiful view on the Danube, the Chain bridge and the Castle. The city centre is just walking distance away.

Right on the Danube. Must request river view room. Great views of Citadel, Palace and Chain Bridge. Great for taking a stroll to shopping and restaurants nearby. Right on Danube promenade for great views and walks and nightlife. Walking distance to Parliament, Chain Bridge to get to the Buda side and Opera House. Main shopping district a five minute ride... The hotel is right on the Danube river. Great place to be able to access the river, Buda palace, metro, Gerbaud cafe, shopping & lots more. Standard quality of hotel rooms & service, which is quite good at the Intercontinental. Great views of the Buda palace and the river.

Stayed at this hotel during a business conference. Excellent facilities. Good size bedrooms with great view of the Danube. The large floating restaurants are in close proximity with great tram services operating at good frequencies. The boat rides on river Danube are a must.

We recently returned from a 20 day European Vacation with another couple. We stayed at the InterContinental Hotel in Budapest for 3 nights. Our room was 1st rate, the staff was extremely helpful, the Sunday Brunch was fantastic, and the hotel was centrally located to the Hop On Hop Off we used (there are at least 5 different HO/HO companies... Had the pleasure to stay at this Hotel. Will be returning next month happily on my next business trip to Budapest. Check in was seamless, room comfortable although I received two single beds and was told nothing else was available (when my colleague without any IHG status got upgraded to a suit). I didn't care as it was only a... More

As most other reviewers have noted, all the rooms facing the Danube have spectacular views with the buildings and bridges all lit up at night. Rooms were a good size and well equipped with comfortable furnishings, reasonable sized bathroom. However the most memorable part of our stay was the superb service, in particular from one of the restaurant managers who... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
