I stayed here for four days during a conference, and was very happy with the value and location. Walking distance to my conference venue, the sights in the castle district, close to trams and metro for a quick ride into the city centre. Nicely kept rooms, but the decor is a little dated. Friendly staff.

great location, good public transport, nice view, value for money. Both for groups and for individual travellers. Not cosy but businesslike. Take dinner and breakfast in the neighbourhood for the Hungarian experience.

We stayed in the Mercure Buda hotel with a group of 4 friends. The hotel is good: standard rooms are okay, bathroom is okay, there is a very good breakfast. The most important item for us was however the location: it's on walking distance from the old city center with the royal palace, and on foot you can also reach... More

Mercure Buda is situated near the charming old town of Buda, in a quiet, green place. The staff is very efficient and amicable, fluent in foreign lenguages. The breakfast was just wonderfull. A very nice stay in the hotel was ruined by the fact that in the room was too hot. Turning on the air condition resulted in some noise but no cold air at all. Otherwise the hotel was OK, good location, nice rooms, very good price.

Overall, normal standard businnes hotel. Nothing special about it really. In total, the room had a good size, the bathroom was tidy, and the food was tasty. We had booked a conference room by the organisers as well which was okish. One small problem was that whenever the air conditioning switched on / off the lights went out for a... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
