The rooms are spacious and quite well decorated. The building itself is a charming old house in the city center. However, the rooms are EXTREMELY noisy - the noise insulation is very bad between the rooms (we could distinctly hear our neigbors talking and people walking in the room above us). There were also renovation works at the time of our trip (in February) starting 8 am... Finally, housekeeping was superficial with no deep cleaning of the bathroom. Would not recommend it.
I stayed here for 4 nights in February with my boyfriend for his birthday! We are a young couple and loved the decor and vibe of Brody house. It was nothing short of amazing! We had the room with the gold bath tub in the room. It was gorgeous and so very comfortable. The photos do not do the hotel justice, it is really quirky yet very comfortable and cosy. The staff were all super helpful and available when needed. They even helped to organise a small little present for my boyfriend in advance of our visit which made the trip even more special. The breakfast in the main bar were great and the hotel in general was also exceptionally clean and quiet! The hotel is ideally located from the airport - take the 100E which is like 30 minutes away and 900HUF one way per person, then a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. The jewish quarter was only 10 minutes walk away and all the sights were easy to walk to within 30 minutes (The bridges and the Market etc..). Restaurants we went too which were great for a fun young couple Hilda - nice for a more formal hungarian dinner setting Kiosk Pest - FAVOURITE place! tuesday night had piano music and amazing food in a beautiful warehouse style restaurant Mazel Tov - went for lunch - book in advance as its busy! Nice Israeli food in a cool setting Bella di Mamma - amazing pizza - right next door to Mazel tov getto gulyas - yummy hungarian food in the jewish quarter - great goulash! Horizont - quirky old cinema ideal for brunch A la Maison - nice girly spot for brunch FELIX bar and restaurant - amazing spot on the Buda side get lunch there, and get the sausage snitzel - its really pretty Doubleshot partisan coffee place - nice for brunch and really fun inside, pretty food! Things to do! Gellert baths - really fun on the Buda side and had lots of different pools to enjoy. House of Terror was interesting, Walk past Buda castle and Fishermans bastian, Visit the Grand Market, walk around the jewish quarter, visit the ruin bars! Al in all go o Brody house if you want a boutique hotel in Budapest as its central enough, feels quirky yet intimate and the staff were so helpful and really friendly. My own critique would be... i would have liked to have had a kettle in the bedrooms - you get unlimited tea downstairs in the bar but you have to keep going down to get it! Thanks Brody house for looking after us!…
After just concluding a film shoot for my Wife’s Guest Starring Role on a Season Finale of A TV Series filming in Budapest - we decided that our final night needed something special. An old friend who had also just finished Directing the filming of the previous episode was leaving the following day and she had a pass to the Brody Club, so we decided - why not? After a really good meal with some local favorite recipes dishes, we ventured upstairs to the comedy club and got an evening of working out our abdominal muscles from laughing so long and hard., Fortuitously we ventured there the evening when Spider-Man Actor Tom Holland’s Dad, Comedian extraordinaire; Dominic Holland, was there and what an amazing, funny and talented guy he turned out yo be. We all had an amazing time - not just because of the comedy - but the all around great ambiance and vibe of the Brody Club was experienced by all.…
3 storied from the 1800’s, original curving wide staircase, huge double doors, unusual art on bare plaster walls. Nothing in Brody House is as it seems! Perfectly situated close to city centre and the Old Jewish quarter Ruin bars. There isn’t a lift, so not suitable for disabled people. We thoroughly enjoyed this unusual place and would recommend it to all. 😀
After the number of 5 star reviews we were wildly excited to stay at Brody. We were buzzed into a lonely foyer with no receptionist and when she appeared and we relayed had a horrid travel into central Budapest from the airport her response was 'you should have read more about Budapest' The stairs are a nightmare and the run down/ruin tone may be charming to some, but felt more like a haunted, lonely mansion to us. We saw no one else for most of the trip. No atmosphere and no one on reception to ask for recommendations. And when receptionists came out, there was no joy. There were no robes or slippers (it was -7) no conditioner, no coffee or tea in the rooms, but these were minor things - the in room bath was exquisite and the rooms (Ludo) ARE funky, artsy and quirky. Breakfast was meagre and they forgot to put the meats out which may have been fine but with little offerings it would have helped. The main reason it even got 3 stars was the barman each night. They honestly were the only reason we didn't fly home early. Each night of the 3 stays we met lovely, young barman who we could actually talk to. Have interactions, created atmosphere, ask questions. Atilla is a wonderful, hospitable barman! Keep him. Here is a picture of a 'latte' from breakfast to make you laugh. Look if Ms Havishams mansion from Great Expectations or the hotel from the Shining is your thing, then go ahead. …
I read the reviews and they are all true, this is a wonderful individual hotel. Every room is different and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. The room was large and the bed so comfortable, so quiet at night not like a normal hotel! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. Perfect location for the metro and hop on hop off busses. You won’t be disappointed
Here in November for our first visit to Budapest. Not the cheapest hotel but worth the extra if you want quirky rather than corporate on the Pest side and very easy to get to on bus from airport. Rooms are all very different, ours was spacious, great bath and shower, a settee, table, comfortable bed. An honesty bar with a wide range of wines and other alcoholic drinks as well as soft. Tea (all sorts) and coffee available all day at no cost. Breakfast buffett some fresh fruit, mini croissants 2 kinds of fruit salad, small amount of cheese and ham, hard boiled eggs and some decent bread. Staff young, knowledgeable, friendly. I would stay again
What an incredible place. Well done PG and Will. 10th year anniversary last Saturday and celebrated in true Brody style. Fabulous rooms; "shabby chic" combined with modern amenities that work such as great showers. Not a TV in sight. Wonderful location to explore Budapest; incredible value for super food and wine. A must go!
I’d been wanting to stay at this hotel for ages. I’d heard amazing things about it and actually put off visiting Budapest until we could stay here, and it was definitely worth the wait! When you arrive at Brody House you’re greeted by a huge sweeping staircase which leads you up to a lovely art packed treat of a property. We stayed in the Photo room, which was stunning. Each of the rooms is unique and filled with beautiful pieces of art. Breakfast was lovely and loved the honest bar too. This is a really special little hotel and staying here made our trip to Budapest even more fantastic!
First impression on arriving is a little surprising since it doesn’t look or feel like a hotel, especially with the sweeping staircase going up two long flights. But once we arrived at the Reception and common areas upstairs, it looked very interesting with lots of eclectic artistic flair in the decor and renovations. And our room, The Photo Room, was fantastic! Spacious, beautifully decorated, with a large bathroom and shower room and a very comfy large bed with a cozy white duvet. The breakfast room is a lovely and welcoming space with fresh flowers and sunshine streaming in through the large windows, and lots of paintings on the wall. And the breakfast itself was delicious and substantial, with lots of healthy options to select from and enough to sustain us until the afternoons. The staff were very friendly and helpful and very happy to respond to any requests. The location of this place is perfect for sightseeing, being just minutes from a Main Street with frequent trams, and only a 10 minute walk to Liberty Bridge, the Great Market Hall and the shopping/dining pedestrian street Vaci utca. In fact, we were able to walk just about everywhere from here. We really enjoyed our stay here, and the only issue for us was the long staircase to the top floor and no elevators. But we were told they will soon be moving the reception and breakfast room to the ground floor and there are rooms available off the charming ivy-covered courtyard - next time!…
