Dohány Utca 42-44 Recently enjoyed 4 nights at the lovely Hotel. We chose it for the elegance and classic style and of course the roof top pool and spa area were a huge bonus. Situated in Dohany Street , we got the airport shuttle (2200 forints pp) excellent, run every few minutes, just turn left as you exit the airport and a few yards down number 100 E. You can use card on the bus. takes 25 mins and is the Astoria stop (2nd stop) then cross over to The Synagogue and carry on straight 8 mins, to the road number at the top of this review, it is on the left and just has Hotel sign outside, large wooden revolving doors, and a party shop on the opposite side of the road. Check in was efficient and quick, and we had a bottle of fizz brought to the room, which was a nice touch. We had a classic room on the 5th floor. Apart from noisy air con, the room was perfect. A very good sized room with a Super king bed with super comfortable mattress, nice quality bedding and great shower and bathroom area, with plenty of toiletries which were replenished as necessary (no hair conditioner) fresh towels daily, and bedding changed after 2 days. Mini fridge stocked with soft drinks, but was never cold. All spotlessly clean. The room had a large heavy solid door and I can honestly say we never heard a sound when in our room which was great for sleep quality.
Breakfast was superb with everything available, replenished constantly and of a good standard. We got there for 8.30am so not too busy. The reception and lounge area are very nice and always plenty of seating. The galleried bar area up the staircase was good, although we felt the tables were too high for the chairs, which meant that you had to reach up for your drink, resulting in knocking the stem a few times.!! Happy hour on a couple of cocktails between 5pm-7pm (best Aperol Spritz in Budapest).
Hotel is in a good position to get around, and the red hop on hop off bus is the best way to get around, go to the vendors and you can get 3 days plus a Danube cruise for approx £32 pp, well worth it. We found eating out to be fairly expensive, and taxes and service charges on everything, so be aware of this. There are supermarkets on every corner, so we purchased drinks and snacks there.
Budapest is a spectacular City and a 4 night break was perfect for us. I would definitely recommend this Hotel.

We stayed at the Continental Hotel Budapest for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were spotless, with a very comfortable bed and thoughtful touches like tea and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom was well-equipped with nice little soaps and a vanity pack, which was a lovely detail.
We also tried the restaurant downstairs, and it was excellent! The Aberdeen Angus steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. A little note for fellow travelers—if you order the spicy potatoes, they’re actually more like crisps (which caught us off guard as we’re from England), but they were still delicious!
The reception area was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
One of the highlights was the indoor pool—it was wonderfully warm and the perfect way to unwind after a long day exploring the city. Also the hotel was very well situated, pretty much 20min walk to all site seeing areas.
Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Budapest!

Having decided to book to visit Budapest for the first time, the next daunting task was to choose a hotel as our base for the 5 days. What drew us to the Continental were the Spa facilities based with in the hotel. We knew that the outdoor pool was going to closed, but that didn't worry us as the indoor pool was still open. If I was being really critical, it would have been nice for the pool etc to be open earlier to allow you you to use before breakfast and then head out for the day (It's currently 9-9) The pictures of the hotel really do not do it justice, it really is beautiful inside and out! The staff were super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. Location wise the hotel was in the perfect position for public transport stops and within walking distance of some fantastic bars and delicious restaurants. We had booked a standard room with breakfast included, which we could not fault! Excellent spread of hot and cold options with chef cooking omelettes to order, you really were spoilt for choice! The rooms were exceptionally clean with comfortable bedding. There was a safe and mini bar if you wanted to avail, bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had a shower cubicle with a lovely powerful shower and abundance of hot water regardless of the time you used it. All in all I would totally recommend the Continental to any of friends or family visiting Budapest

We’re thrilled to hear that your first visit to Budapest was such a memorable one and that our hotel contributed to making your experience enjoyable. Mixed feelings , we loved the hotel itself and the staff were very helpful with directions . The breakfast was also very good and the location although 20 minutes walk from the main area was still good and you could feel the history as you walked in the Jewish area the synagogue also very close and worth going on the tour there . The problem and it is a big one as you’ve been sight seing all day is the rock hard Matress on top of a rock hard base , it was also dipping down at the top end , not what you expect for 4 stars . We tried to get it changed with several visits to reception , we had 3 Matress toppers fitted but they were Realy just Matress protectors . I tried to get an extra quilt but they wouldn’t send one , I had to lie on the quilt and use bathrobes for covers . There is also no air con and the window is a tilt top one so no air making the room stuffy , but managed to get a fan that slightly helped from reception , not a comfortable room at all . I will be researching comfortable beds for my next holiday so wouldn’t be able to recommend this hotel

Dear joleene7, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your detailed feedback about your Continental Hotel holiday. On the bright side, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of your stay, including the beautiful hotel itself, our helpful staff, and the delicious buffet breakfast. It is also wonderful that you were impressed with the historical charm of the Jewish Quarter. Both bed and room temperature are points of individual taste, I am sincerely sorry that these aspects were not to your personal taste. I sincerely apologize that neither the mattress topper nor the fan provided a solution, and I regret that the extra blanket was not delivered for any reason. Certainly this does not reflect the high level standard we always aim for. Guest comfort is our top priority, and we strive to meet those needs as best as we can. I am very sorry that we did not maximize your comfort during your stay. Please accept our apologies for the inconveniences encountered. We appreciate your honest feedback. Hope that superb location and friendly hospitality serve as good reason to consider giving us another chance in the future, where we will do our very best to provide you with a much improved experience. All my best, Zoltán Géher General Manager

Lovely hotel, great location and service. Rooms are quiet and very comfortable and the aircon is very good throughout, which was especially welcome as it reached 39 degrees during our stay. All the staff are extremely courteous, and the rooftop pool and wellness area is a little gem. My only criticism is that the breakfast waiting staff are a bit too keen to clear up. If you leave your table to get something else, you may find everything is gone by the time you return.

Dear Justin M, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your holiday spent in our beloved Continental Hotel! We appreciate both your lovely praises and constructive comment. It sounds fantastic that you found our hotel to be tranquil and well-located, and that you enjoyed the comfort of your room and the efficiency of the air conditioning during the hot weather. Thank you also for appreciating the courteous service and the pampering rooftop wellness area. It is a guest favorite and really smart to visit it in the less popular hours for the most comfortable experience. We sincerely apologize for the issue you encountered with the breakfast service. Location of hotel is good, around 20mins walk to main thoroughfare but close to many of the ruin bars and the New York Cafe.
All staff were great, very attentive. Good choices at breakfast, you can also get a bespoke omelette if you wish. We had a meal one night and was lovely, just be aware that they apply a 12% service charge automatically.
Rooms were a good size, with usual mini bar, safe, desk etc, large big pillows and separate quilts on one large bed.
All in all a great hotel in a good location which was ideal for our trip. Couple points to be aware of ;
1. It's sort of soulless at night, only have a small mezzanine bar holding maybe 20 people max, so little atmosphere in the hotel, bar closes at 12. No other area to chill and roof area not open late either, so get your thrills elsewhere.
2. The bathroom in our room wasn't great. It's big enough, however the area where the shower is poorly laid out. Toilet faces the wall where the towel rail is so space limited, and that space is where you enter the shower. Shower has 2 doors, each can move in/out but not at same time. So one door has to go in, one out to get in the shower but is super awkward. They don't keep water out either, so floor was always wet. The shower tray wasn't fitted properly as the floor of it flexed in parts which was a bit worrying. You have towel robes, but the towels themselves are really poor quality and small.

Dear Alex, Thank you for your recent visit and for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your Continental Hotel holiday. It is a delight that you enjoyed our convenient location, the attentive service provided by our staff, and the breakfast options, including the made-to-order omelette. It feels wonderful to hear that your meal at our Araz Restaurant was lovely, and we appreciate your understanding regarding the 12% service charge. Please note that most restaurants apply a service charge, the percentage may vary. I am glad that you found the rooms to be of a good size and well-equipped for your stay. However, please accept our apologies for the issues you encountered during your visit, particularly with the bathroom layout. Your feedback regarding the bathroom design is very valuable, and we will certainly look into how we can perfect this aspect for future guests. We also appreciate your comments about the towels and will review the quality to ensure they meet the high standards we strive for. Regarding the atmosphere, I am sorry that gallery bar and rooftop wellness might not have provided the late evening experience you were hoping for. Our surroundings – the so called Bohemian District of Budapest – is full of options to chill or entertain hope you had the chance to discover some of them. Thank you again for your constructive feedback. I am glad that overall, you had a good experience and that our hotel was a good fit for your trip. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better stay next time. Best regards, Zoltán Géher General Manager

Absolutely faultless and an amazing stay. We were lucky to be upgraded to the Presidential Suite, which was breath taking and made a much needed break even more special. We were lucky enough to be shown to our room by Jonas, who spoke English fluently with a great sense of humour and is such a gentleman. He was very helpful showing us all the sights on the map and making recommendations. On our final day he recommended Tati, and the recommendation didn’t disappoint, only a few minutes walk away and the food and service was amazing. We made use of the pool and sauna, which was lovely and relaxing and very clean. The hotel is very central with only a 20 minute walk to the main areas, less than 5 minutes to New York Cafe. Breakfast also has a great selection with fresh omelette a being made and the bar and restaurant at the hotel were also very reasonable.

This is a 3 star hotel hiding behind a 4/5 star status. On the outside the hotel is lovely, nice reception, nice rooms, and nicely decorated but the staff, service and general atmosphere is not what you expect from a 4/5 star hotel.
When you get here you realise that the atmosphere is not as expected: - Staff not as friendly as most hotels and not what you expect from a highly rated hotel. Staff not overly helpful either and seem like they don’t know what they are doing. The bar staff were nice but stressed and overworked as there is not enough staff to cope with a large hotel like this. -The whole key card system kept going down in the evenings and the only way to get back into your room is by one staff member having to go to each room individually to let people in and re-program the doors. -The breakfast needs a booking system, it is chaotic and crazy. Too many people, tables too close together and even if you go early in the time they say it is quiet - it is not quiet. They also kept running out of food and cutlery. The only good thing about the breakfast was the omelette station. They were very friendly and nice. -The pool/spa also needs a booking system, it is too busy. No space in the pool or sauna, with queues to get into both. Not what you expect from a 4/5 star hotel. I went early in the morning to avoid the crowds and there was no staff and the sauna was turned off, even though the centre was open. -There is no proper safe luggage storage system, they just store your luggage behind a rope next to reception with a sign saying do not go here which everyone knows will not stop people. I asked if they have a locked room, which they said they do not, which is crazy because of how big the hotel is. I have stayed at 1/2 star hotels where they even have a locked safe room for luggage storage, so not having one in a 4/5 star is not acceptable. -The rooms are nice but the beds are not the most comfortable and the shower is way too small, again not what you expect from a 4/5 star hotel.
Overall decent hotel, probably worth 3 stars not 4 star superior. I think it needs new management and a rethink of how they operate. I’d recommend staying in a different hotel if you visit Budapest, the best thing about this hotel is the location and the style of the building. I went into other hotels and they seemed a lot more well managed and less chaotic.

Dear Joel, Thank you for your Continental Hotel visit and for sharing your detailed feedback. We are truly sorry that we were unable to fully impress you during your stay, and we regret that the busy holiday period affected certain aspects of your experience. We appreciate your insights, which will help us improve. We acknowledge that the breakfast area can become crowded, particularly during peak seasons and weekends. We already have plans, which we would like to implement in short term, to improve this factor and make breakfast more comfortable for our guests. We do recommend early breakfast times, which usually works and we appreciate your understanding of this suggestion. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the omelette station, thank you for highlighting this extra feature. Regarding the wellness area, we apologize that you were unable to fully enjoy the facilities during the early hours. In the future, please feel free to share any concerns with our reception, and we will address them immediately. The issue with the key cards during New Year's Eve was an unexpected technical glitch, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it caused. Our team responded as quickly and professionally as possible, and we have since taken measures to ensure this does not happen again. We are also very sorry to hear that you felt the overall atmosphere, staff, and service did not reflect what you expected from our 4-star superior hotel. Your comments regarding the staff’s friendliness and helpfulness have been noted, and we will reinforce expected service behaviors to ensure we deliver the high level of service that is expected from us. While we are sorry that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations, we are grateful for your positive comments about the beauty of our building and rooms. We sincerely hope that you will give us a second chance in the future, when we can impress you with flawless services and facilities and prove that we deserve our 4-star superior rating. Thank you for your support. We Wish You Happy New Year! Best regards, Zoltán Géher General Manager

The hotel is very nice, has a fantastic restaurant with an excellent letter... It is very well located, has a varied and delicious breakfast, and a bar with good cocktails.
On the morning of January 1st, we had a small crash, the door of our room did not open, the solution was to break the lock the next day. They provided us (the manager Atila) immediately a new room (upgrade) gave in the toothbrushes for the night and the next morning we could go pick up our things to the old room that had been broken in the meantime. It was a boring situation, but it was easily overcome due to the sympathy and predisposition of all employees. It is worth choosing this hotel, it is warmly seated, has a pool and a gym...

We arrived on the 22nd of September to the hotel at around 11pm and the man behind the counter was extremely helpful with checking us in, telling us local places to go, even getting us a map and drawing on it stating where things were, how to book spa treatments etc.
Room very clean and nicely decorated. Bed very comfortable and towels soft. Complimentary water was good (we didnt realize one was sparkling so that was a suprise for my partner) cleaners entered our room every day and freshened up, changed bins, etc. Very good and efficient.
We had breakfast one of the mornings we were staying here and the staff were very friendly, quick at cleaning tables and restocking food/drink items. So much choice for food and drink. Many fruits and pastries. Perfect service.
I also had a massage on one of the mornings. Aromatherapy massage. Was amazing. Staff members all very nice and professional. Would definitely recommend.
Front reception staff always very helpful with directions and information. One of the days our shower hose had broken and we notified the reception staff as we were going out for a walk and by the time we had come back it was fixed.
Pool area was clean, well kept, pool nice and clean. Fresh towels and pool slippers provided. The lady that worked up there was so lovely and friendly. Always has a smile on her face and always helpful.
Brilliant staff all round. Came for my 25th birthday. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
